♪ i finally found the right snack ♪ ♪ ♪ it's great to have you with us on this saturday, june 27th. good morning everyone i'm chris nguyen. cooler temperatures for the start of the weekend. here is meteorologist lisa ard yen for a first look at weather. >> this does illustrate why, we have the low clouds at the coast but also high clouds streaming up frommen a area of low pressure just off the central california coast and that's enhancing our marine layer, also bringing higher fire danger and heat continues into the sierra nevada, the central valley. back home it should be pleasant today with mid 60s around the bay. we're look at right now 60, partly cloudy in this san jose, look for a high of 70 or 80 there today upper 70s on the

peninsula and those mid 80s returning inland. right now 11 degrees cooler by the delta. a look at your full weather forecast and how soon we'll heat up coming up. chris. now to some developing news out of san jose this morning where police are investigating a homicide. officers say a 17-year-old boy was shot at around 10:20 last night on terralyn avenue. investigators tell us the teenager tied on the sidewalk. we took several calls from abc 7 news viewers who said there was a large police presence at the scene for hours. police have yet to identify any possible suspects. the time is 8:01 and our big story on this pride weekend, the supreme court's land hashing ruling that establishes a constitutional right for same-sex couples to get married in all 50 states. cheers tears and celebration erupted as couples heard the battle was finally won. in washington, d.c. the white house lit up in pride colors

overnight to celebrate the court'sist rick decision is. even the white house's whitter profile picture was changed to reflect a rainbow colored building. the timing seems appropriate as it came on the eve of pride weekend. pride event officially began today in san francisco, one of them being the commemoration of the pink triangle on twin peaks. yesterday's decision kicked the celeb into high gear one day early. >> reporter: this block was shut down to celebrate the supreme court's decision to uses packed in in waved flags and celebrated a historic event for this community. >> it's beautiful. it's a look at the whole entire u.s. map and know that every single state allows gay marriage and it's not gay marriage anymore, it's just marriage. >> irene littlefield and lynn mcdowell are here from florida. >> we never thought ever. not in my lifetime. >> they were married in new mexico last month and at the

time were driving through a patchwork of states where their marriage may not be recognized. >> they were a little concerned about it. so this morning was especially happy for us. it was just like, okay, now we can go anywhere. >>. >> reporter: at the start of the trans ride march this transgender actress was surrounded by supporters. >> this didn't start off as a political movement, it just started off as trying to stand up for your own rights. >> reporter: 46 years ago a group of trans sexual women were fed up with being bullied by the police so they fought back. she's anticipate couples can now marry who they love regardless of their gender, but she says there's still a lot of work to be done. in san francisco, abc 7 news. abc 7 news was at san

francisco city hall the moment people first got the news. there was a lot of cheering and raw emotion among the dozen or so same-sex couples gathered to hear the decision. lieutenant governor knew om was there, he told the crowd that the decision sends a strong message. >> don't ever despair. don't ever give up. don't ever believe a challenge is too big. >> knew some began his fight for equally marriage rights back in 2004 when he was mayor of san francisco. that year he directed the city clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples which was this violation of state law. while san francisco is often the focus of gay pride the lgbt community also received overwhelming support from the city of san jose. abc 7 news reporter allenan wang has that part of our team coverage. >> marriage is a fundamental right to every human being. >> reporter: the celebration broke out as suddenly as the supreme court ruling came down. openly gay leaders like assembly

member evan lough and santa clara supervisor ken jaeger shouted from the steps of san jose city hall. >> thank got that the confederate flags are going down in many areas of the country and the rainbow flag is heading up. >> reporter: others expressed their emotions after hearing same-sex marriage is though protected across the entire country. >> i actually cried. i'm on my way to work and i got a text from my mom and she was the one that told me. i got coked up. >> often you don't know you're stressed until the stress is over and that's really the experience i had. >> reporter: it's been a lifetime struggle for so many and now this ruling seems to have put it to an end. >> we finally evolved and we evolved regarding a gay and lesbian issue. >> i know the dominant culture as a whole still doesn't like it, you know, but now we've got the law on our side. >> reporter: but many here realize it will take longer for attitudes to change. in san jose, alan wang abc 7

news. no surprise no everyone is happy about the ruling some harsh words from same-sex marriage opponents they say the supreme court violated the constitution and that there will be unintended fallout from yesterday's decision. >> this is not government of the people by the people for the people. this is a sad day for children, a sad day for our constitution, a sad day for hearing. >> the court just redefined marriage as an adult centric institution and eliminated the only institution that specifically unites kids with their moms and dads. >> the people behind protect marriage.com vowed to continue their fight writing a bare majority of the supreme court has abruptly cut off this on going debate unilaterally imposes its view of what's good with society. judge anthony he scalia's dissent was usually bitter. anthony kennedy wrote the nature of marriage is that through its enduring bond two persons

home state recognize him as the widower of his partner of 20 years. president obama sent out this tweet yesterday morning using the #love wins. immediately that hashtag began trending. all this is even more significant for same-sex couples in states where same-sex marriage was banned as abc 7 news reporter katie mar zul la shows us there were emotional and impromptu weddings in the hours polling the supreme court's ruling. >> reporter: the people gathered at the u.s. supreme court were first to hear the news. from there it was a race to the nearest judge or city hall clerk. in texas 85-year-old jack evans and 82-year-old george harris made it official. they met 54 years ago. texas was one of 13 states in which there was a ban on same-sex marriage now lifted couples are lining up to get their marriage licenses at this county office. >> it's really emotional.

new video this morning from charleston, south carolina where a woman was arrested for taking down the confederate flag at the state capitol. witnesses say she climbed up the flagpole early this morning, she was arrested for crossing the fence around the flagpole. the confederate flag was raised again a short time later. calls to remove it permanently have grown in recent days after a white supremacist shot and killed nine people inside a charleston church. at that church yesterday president obama delivered a powerful address at the funeral of pastor clementa pinckney. >> blinded by hatred the alleged killer could not see the grace surrounding reverend panik

desperate. abc's elizabeth hurt has the latest. >> reporter: after thousands of officers searched hundreds of miles of dense terrain for three weeks weeks, the border patrol s.w.a.t. team shot and killed richard matt 17 miles from the canadian border. >> a person towing a camper believed that their camper had been shot. originally they had heard a sound, this he thought maybe they had a flat. when they pulled into a camp site they examined the trailer that they were towing and realized that there was a bullet hole through the back of the camper. into the law enforcement partners, tack cal team, hell couldn't erred the team came upon matt engaged in martin truex, jr. who was armed and mr. matt was shot and killed. >> reporter: officials confirmed their second fugitive david sweat is still out there. the manhunt intensified in malone, new york after a woman

>> we will have high clouds up in the nrt bay, but temperatures will be cooler. the cool down started yesterday with that southerly surge in the north bay but it's taking another day for our east bay valley to get into a cooler trend. 99 in concord and livermore 100 in antioch, that's not too cool. today we're looking at low to mid 80s. check this out this is an area of low pressure sending up the high clouds the sub tropical moisture will reach the sierra nevada. not only to they have the heat, but they have the possibility of some dry lightning. red flag warning from south lake over to western nevada all the way town through parts of the yosemite valley and it's going to be 102 in yosemite. relief is here it's been here at our beaches, so this is the boardwalk in santa cruz where numbers are ranging from anywhere from 2 to 11 degrees cooler than we were yesterday. so at the coast, san francisco and oakland not much change. san jose 60 right now it's 59 in morgan hill, upper 50s in san

francisco and speaking of san jose we've got partly sunny skies for you. today at about 80 degrees, should be a beautiful afternoon. average a high is about 84. so in the 60s today or right now i should say from concord liver for and mare field and this is much cooler, as much as 10 degrees cooler in livermore than you were this time yesterday. napa 59 degrees. so 24 hour temperature change really highlights the cool town all around the bay. 4 to 6 degrees cooler from palo alto to san jose. so a couple things going on. high clouds low clouds and we've got an area of low pressure that is bringing all that together. so with the cooling spreading inland today should be a nice afternoon, but you will notice the high clouds. tomorrow those should thin on out and we will see more sunshine. bump up the numbers a few degrees. then high pressure builds back strongly from the desert southwest and that's going to bring the heat back. a couple of days of feeling for our friends in the east bay as

have you ever thought the officials at a sporting event needed their eyes checked? you will be happy to hear this. as fans flocked to sonoma for this weekend's nascar races the officials will use lasers and computer vision to take the guesswork out of it. abc 7 news reporter jonathan bloom that is a look behind the scenes. >> reporter: sonoma raceway's infamous turn two has ruined its share of tires, good thing there are rots of spares. when the crew jumps over the wall for the pit spot 50 cameras will be watching. >> whether there was a chassis adjustment done. >> officials who used to stand on pit road now sit in this trailer said to have 9 million times the computing power of the first space shuttle. >> same amount of air conditioning as four houses. you can see all of the service down here, all of the vision processing service. >> reporter: they create an image like this tracking the car, the crew members an even the tires and alerting officials if it they break the rules. >> the system is has said you potentially have a pep at for

saturday morning. thanks for waking us with us i'm chris nguyen. we're in for cooling temperatures across parts of the bay this weekend. lends send it over to our meteorologist lisa argen. >> the cool air has arrived and that 91 in kemp field, san rafael, gilroy, morgan hill it's over because we have the low clouds, the higher clouds and what about that 98 in concord? 99 in livermore. you, too waking up to temperatures at least 10 degrees cooler in some spots around the bay. underneath partly sunny conditions. a kwings of some high clouds the low clouds, the stronger sea breeze allowing for 60s and 70s across the bay. here 80 in san jose but notice the high clouds and the 80s have

pushed further to the east pushing those 90s into the sacramento valley. there will be some sub tropical moisture and possibility of dry lightning in the sierra. european tour operators are canceling tours to tunisia this morning following a terror attack that left at least 37 people dead at a beach resort. isis is claiming to be behind the attack. one of three that happened within 90 minutes around the world. abc's brian ross has more. >> reporter: it was just before noon when the gunman hit. his targets mostly british and german tourists. still in their bathing suits on their beach chairs as rescue workers rushed them to the hospital and this this popular resort on the am mediterranean. >> i turned the bullet just hit me in my arm. >> reporter: it was a massacre, at least 39 people dead 39 more wounded. the bodies covered with beach towels. >> i just saw the gunman firing

so it's, randomly at people laying on the sun beds on the beach. >> reporter: he killed people in the sea, said another eyewitness eyewitness, and he killed people it in the swimming pool. another tourist told an irish radio station the gunman even shot at one of the areas popular beach hot air balloons. >> i looked up 500 meters and saw a balloon collapse down and rapid firing and then on the beach started saying run run. >> reporter: unchecked terror as the lone gunman identified by tunisian heedia as the man this this photo stalked the grounds with an automatic weapon before he was eventually killed by police. abc news's bob woodruff is tune that. >> reporter: authorities say he hid in a boat and the authorities are trying to determine the background of the gunman and whether he is connected to isis or any other terror group. >> reporter: within hours of the tunisia attack there were two more terror attacks one 700 miles away at this

american-owned gas company in france where one person was found beheaded, and then a u side bomb attack in kuwait where 27 people were killed during prayers at a mosque. >> and that was brian ross reporting. in tune is that today hundreds of tourists have packed airports scrambling to get out of the country sthop. making headlines, efforts tp in skra to recover the bodies of nine people. the plane containing eight passengers from the holland hearing ship westerdam along with the pilot crashed into a cliff. a recovery crew had had to secure the plane before they could safely work to remove the bodies. ntsb investigators are looking into weather as a leading cause of the crash along with mechanical failure or simply pilot error. new this morning, president obama says the supreme court decision on the affordable care act means the law is here to stay and that opponents need to

the time is 8:40. we are taking a live look at san jose this morning. you can see the access building on the right and one south market to the left where they just put up the marquis sign. we will get a check of the full forecast with lisa in just a few minutes. work on regional connection for bay area commuters is quickly taking shape with much of the construction on the trans bay terminal completed underground. we're finally seeing it rise above street level. carolyn tyler updates us on what's going on.

>> reporter: at first on mission streets in san francisco commuters are watching an icon raise rise, one that might make their trip into san francisco easier some day. >> you absolutely get a feel for what that experience is going to be when the tran is sit center opens in late 2017. >> reporter: dennis is senior project manager of the $1.9 billion new trans bay terminal project. its designed to be the grand central station of the west. a hub for bay area transit. on the upper levels regional bus lines will carry commuters to and from the city. underground cal train and high speed trails will bring commuters up the peninsula. >> we've poured almost 100,000 cubic yards of concrete in the last year for the train box. >> last august we took you underground and showed you where the trains would arrive. today that area is covered by concrete. from above you can see theffw rest of the station going up. when it's complete it will be the size of two transamerica
