there. i'll have the details straight ahead. it's 6:00 now. breaking news overnight all lanes of 880 are open following a deadly accident that shut down the northbound lanes for several hours this morning. according to the chp a man in a prius crashed into another car. he got out to check on the other driver and was struck by another vehicle. that caused a second two-car crash. no one else was seriously injured. matt keller will have more in a live report at 6:30. cal fire is ramping up efforts to stop a potential danger before things get out of control. it's issuing new burn bans in three bay area counties o today hoping to e prevent wildfires. amy is live with more on what you need to know. >> reporter: don't worry if you haven't done your fire prevention around your home yet. we have take an look at the fire station and they haven't even

followed their own advice so you're not behind yet. it is time to get started on fire prevention. fire officials don't want to see anymore of these. this wildfire broke out last week and burned 533 acres. the captain says it's the driest it's been in 27 years. so here is what they are canning first. officials are banning outdoor burning of leaves and branches in three counties. alameda and santa clara. they also want you to clear dead vegetation from your home. and finally they want you to trim limbs that are dangling close to the ground. they need to be 10 feet from the ground. the fear is that a fire could jump from the ground and set the whole tree on fire. they are saying get the limbs off the ground. it's time to get serious with the drought conditions we're dealing with. it's too dry and it's going to get hotter in the next few days.

>> thank you. firefighters are getting the upper hand on a wildfire burning in the mountains of san bernardino county. rain helped crews reach 50% containment. it's charred 47 square miles an area nearly the size of san francisco. crews in washington state hope rain will help get the upper hand on a fast-moving wildfire burning out of control there. the sleepy hollow fire destroyed a dozen homes. thousands of people have been evacuated. temperatures in that region have been in triple digits for days making it especially tough for u kroos to fight this fire. 6:03 now, san francisco is returning to normal after more than a million people turned out for this year's gay pride weekend. three days of events culminated with the gay pride parade yesterday kicked off by friday's supreme court ruling to legalize

same-sex marriage in 50 states. a sea of people, floats and bands celebrated down market street in one of the most colorful displays the city has ever seen. it was a mix of families and children. there were many proposals, even a wedding. eem poo had different reasons for coming out. >> to celebrate my friends and family that are gay and lesbian and just the historical time it is right now. >> we accidentally came here on the weekend. e we didn't even know it was happening. it's been really fun and we're having a good time. >> golden state warriors president was the parade's grand marshal. he brought the trophy to share with the crowd. the lead plaintiff in the supreme court case was there as the guest of honor. more people were celebrating than causing trouble at this year's festivities. police arrested 26 people for public intoxication downtown and

in the mission. three people were arrested for felonies, nine for misdemeanors, one for robbery. three juveniles were arrested for possession of illegal fireworks. those numbers don't include yesterday, which is typically the busier day of the weekend for police. last year 65 people were arrested for being drunk in public. the supreme court will meet for the final time today until the fall. two cases focus on capital punishment and clean air. the third the justices must decide if non-partisan commissions can redraw congressional map efrs ten years. california is one of seven states that took that responsibility away from the state legislature and politicians with a vested interest in election results. a 17-year-old oakland boy accused of setting another teen's sdirt on fire will appear in court as a judge considers reducing his sentence. he i guessgnites on fire.

it happened while flooishman was sleeping in the back of a transit bus in oakland. sasha suffered second and third-degree burns on both legs. thomas was sentence edd to seven years in prison. there's a new case of animal mutilation in sacramento. they are hoping a single clue will lead them to the person who did it. surveillance video shows someone walking out of the white car at the bottom of your screen. police say whoever it was left two bags containing five mutilated animals. a goat chickens a rat and cat fish near the tracks saturday night. the man who found it immediately called police. >> i saw an animal laying on the tracks. it was a small goat with the head cut off. the head was placed next to the body. >> animal services found 16 mutilated animals around sacramento this year. space x engineers will get back to work today trying to figure out what went wrong with a rocket launch that exploded minutes after taking off

yesterday. it was supposed to deliver supplies to the international space station. janet is live with more. >> they don't know what caused the rocket to explode. they have been reviewing data to find an answer. soon after the crash, the chief executive tweeted that there was an overpressure event and the upper oxygen tank. space x launched from florida and two minutes after takeoff it broke apart midair sending debris falling from the sky. the resupply mission was on its way to the international space station carrying 4,000 pounds of food science cargo and student experiments including those from san jose's valley christian school. dozens of students came up with ideas for testing how plants grow in space. the students were understandably disappointed when they learned of the catastrophe but they say

this doesn't afelkt their commitment and love for science. >> we understand it was just the hardware that e we lost. the knowledge that we gained from the flight the ability we learned, we're never going to lose those. >> nasa said there is another enough supplies to last the crew on board the station until october. they plan to send three more crew members in late july. live in president newsroom abc 7 news. new lawsuits this morning from passengers that crashed in 2013. the suit is the first lawsuit filed in south korea. 53 passengers of the flight are seeking $30 million in damages. three teens died in the july 2013 crash and more than 180 passengers were injured. the south korean-based airliners have already settled with 72 passengers who filed a lawsuit in the u.s. 6:08 now. a look at the wreckage of a

sight-seeing plane that crashed in alaska killing eight cruise ship passengers. the national transportation safety board tweeted this picture of the remains.t1yu thursday's crash. the cruise line says the pilot had a good safety record and had flown for many years. new this morning, a solar-powered plane is back in the air. this is video of the solar impulse 2 taking off this morning from japan. it's trying a 120-hour flight to hawaii and hopes to go all the way around the globe without fuel. the plane started this leg on june 1st, but had to stall in japan while waiting for weather to clear. if the plane ran off heat we could power it around the world with one charge. >> it's going to heat up. that's what leyla gulen has been telling us. >> round and round a few times i

night near st. louis. no major damage reported but the same line of storms pounded the area with heavy rain and strong winds that lasted into the early morning hours. storms forced baseball fans to scramble for shelter at bush stadium in st. louis. this tower cam video shows fans. they had only minutes to get out of the stands due to safety concerns. the game resumed after an hour and 40 minutes. fans saw some 11 million americans are in the path of severe weather today. "good morning america" will have more on the threat coming up at 7:00. the bay area is no stranger to deadly accidents on railroad tracks. this morning the railroad administration and google are teaming up to do something to reduce the number of accidents. mountain view will include train crossings across the its google maps app. it's a good way to warn drivers to be cautious. last year 270 people died in

railroad crossing accidents. another 850 were injured. 6:15 now, the faa is working on new security measures to keep hackers out of the panel that controls your flight. they met to cover standards that covers all planes. the work took on more when a cyber attack grounded ten flights at poland's warsaw airport. boeing is going even further hiring hackers to see if there are holes in their security. we are a few days away from a busy travel weekend. you might want to keep an extra eye on your luggage. take a look at this man at the baggage claim in seattle. he lifts the luggage out of the carousel and walks away. officials say he was one of nine people disguised as travelers stealing bags from the airport. they may be part of a baggage theft ring. >> they are here all hours of the day. sometimes when we get an individual that's done this

that's causing some flight arrival delays. about 36 minutes right now. the low cloud layer is keeping our temperatures pretty mild across the bay area. a look right now at live doppler 7 satellite. we're not picking up showers at the moment. the showers are over the sierra to the east of us. we are expecting some possibility as isolated showers and thunderstorms today buzz of the monsoonal moisture coming up into the north and moving its way to the east. so we might just get brushed with a few showers here and there it. current temperatures, 58 degrees in lafayette. 59 degrees in union city. on the peninsula, cooler in san francisco at 53 degrees. we have this area of high pressure bringing instability over the four corner states. you can see the green picking up the moisture. the showers over those particular states. that's what's coming up towards us. but that bubble of heat is going to be moving its way to the

east. but not before it brings some record setting temperatures possibly by tomorrow and wednesday. the crescendo over the next couple of days. the cooling trend begins on thursday right into the weekend. but what about tonight? we have a game when the a's take on the rockies. 65 degrees at first pitch at 7:05. by the time it ends, 58 degrees with a light breeze. we have a gale warning for the delta community. so if you're on the bay waters, be careful it could be quite strong. highs between the mid-70s to the e lower 90s in the east. lows tonight mild across the area with increasing clouds. my seven-day forecast you see the triple digits. don't need to rub your eyes. you're not dreaming. it's going to be 104 degrees inland. 102 expected by wednesday. the cooldown thursday for the inland bay area and coastal communities right up to the 4th of july holiday. let's talk about traffic right now.

the cloud cover is really over the entire bay area at this hour. and fog still envelopes the coastline. that's causing visibility concerns. 3 miles per hour at half-moon bay. with the morning commute underway, all lanes of 880 are open right now following a deadly accident that shut down the northbound lanes for several hours this morning. matt keller is live with the story. >> reporter: this started as a minor incident. one vehicle rear ended another vehicle on 880 just before midnight last night. but then one driver got out of his car. >> the party got out of his vehicle to check. he crossed lanes of traffic. after talking to the party he rear ended, he moved back to his vehicle and as he was getting back in his vehicle the

assumption was he was struck at that time while trying to get back in his vehicle. >> that person died at the scene. the coroner was called here at 12:21 a.m. no word on the identification of the victim. two cars were involved in the first crash. two others in the second incident. all the drivers stayed at the scene. 880 was completely blocked off for a short period of time. some lanes were eventually open. 880 was reopened after the on scene investigation was completed. chp did not report any arrests. none of the other drivers had serious injuries. traffic is moving smooth lyly here heading into the northbound 880 onramp. reporting live matt keller abc 7 news. san francisco's gay pride parade resembled a rain bow colored dance. a record number came to celebrate the landmark ruling by the supreme court legalizing same-sex marriage if all 50

say the man was shot in the chest and his body had only been in the park for a short time. he's described only at this point as a hispanic male. police are not releasing any other information about the victim. so far, no arrests have been made. a false report of a stabbing caused major delays a the civic center bart station following san francisco's pride parade. it impacted the daily city and east bay directions around 11:00 last night. someone used red pepper spray, which bart riders mistook for blood. paramedics were dispatched to the station, but an investigation eventually determined no one was stabbed. now to oakley where an argument over a broken car window led to a shooting in the church parking lot. it happened at the church of latter day saints. at least 20 people were fighting, 2 were shot, another was hit with a hammer. everyone is expected to survive. developing news, santa clara county supervisors are

scrambling to prevent county workers from going on strike form. the county will ask a judge to stop the strike. contracts expire for 9,000 workers including nurses and other health care providers at valley medical center. they voted last week to walk off the job. 6:35 now, three alleged sexual assault victims plan to file a title ix lawsuit against l university of california board of regents this morning. the three were all students at cal when they claimed they were sexually assaulted. the school didn't do enough to keep them safe. title ix requires universities and colleges to combat gender based violence as a way of ensuring all accidents get education. the state snalt will take up the bill to keep parents from using personal believes to keep their child from being vaccinated. the assembly passed the bill last week. it would still allow parents to decline vaccinations for medical

reasons though. those opposed to the measure say vaccines are unsafe and they have the right to choose what happens to their kids. if the senate approves the bill it will be sent to the governor's desk. today the city council will consider using affordable housing funds to keep the city's only mobile home park from closing. last month the city council gave the owner permission to sell the property. all 400 residents face eviction but last week the board of supervisors voted to set aside money to keep the park open. also today nurses will gather at ucsf to voebl liez concerns about a proposed arena project for the golden state warriors at mission bay. nurses are concerned about the impact of planned entertainment center could have on patients and workers. they fear it would limit access to life-saving care and make it difficult for workers to get to the hospital in gridlock traffic.
