that breaking news is out of sacramento, where governor brown signed a controversial bill. >> the new law makes vaccination mandatory for all public and private school students and children enrolling in day care. the only exception is children with severe illness.

good morning, thank you for joining us. i'm cheryl jennings. >> and i'm kristen sze. let's give you a live look outside. >> and the conditions will be much cooler around the bay. here's a live look at the waterfront from the exploratorye camera in san francisco. here's a first look at your forecast. >> already turning up the heat in many locations right now. concord 84. you want to escape the heat you go to the coast. san francisco coming in with a temperature of 62 degrees. it's really going to heat up by 3:30. many locations in our inland and east bay valleys are just a few degrees over that so really going to warm up for quickly this afternoon. the national weather service has

don't push the lawn mower, ride the lawn mower and avoid the heat of the day. >> yes. >> reporter: an 80 acre fire burned last week. hot temperatures increase fire danger and it also increases the danger to firefighters. >> if there's water coming out, you need to put the water back in. >> reporter: coolers are full of water and gatorade along with a cooler mist and other items designed to help firefighters recover. once temperatures go over 85 degrees, the fire department will cancel or modify training. when it's hot, children the sick, the elderly are especially vulnerable. >> if we can prevent the heat-related emergencies by keeping people cool, by keeping

back out this afternoon. those who live and work here say whoever did this has gone too far. >> i can't find the words for it. >> reporter: many are shocked to see this lgbt mural after it was damaged by a fire last night. >> there's so many great different murals all the time. it's so sad this one is getting a lot of negative attention. >> reporter: the mural that depicts gay cups and a transgender men keeps being vandalized. they spent $3,000 to replace it and now must spent more to clean up the mess left behind. >> every week it's been tagged. every time, they always replace

it. this time i think they've gone too far. >> reporter: san francisco police are investigating this as a possible hate crime. they're reviewing surveillance video to identify who is responsible. >> i realize it is a very complex issue what's going on. kind of sad. >> reporter: they are asking for community donations to help restore this mural once again. they do plan on holding a community forum july 18th to engage the community bring about more awareness and understanding. reporting live here in the mission district abc 7 news. santa clara county and the employees reached a deal this morning with the employees just hours before thousands of union workers were set to walk off the job. county executive jeff smith released a statement this

morning. although the agreement has to be ratified by members the strike has been averted and residents will be able to access all county services today and the weeks ahead. it would have been a challenging day if 9,000 county employees had walked off their jobs. that's about half of all county employees. 475 were prohibited from striking because a judge ruled they are essential employees. this agreement is from fouror four years. in indonesia this morning more than 100 people are feared death. the confirmed death toll stands at 74 but is expected to rise. no word yet on the number of casualties on the ground. >> reporter: a fiery end at the plane crash. there were 113 people on board, 101 passengers, and 12 crew

members. according to officials a military air base aid nearby a c-130 transport plane came down in a residential area in north sumatra. crushing cars, burning buildings, and part of a three-story hotel. dozens killed at the scene. indonesian c-130 are used to transport troops or cargo. officials say the plane experienced engine trouble just minutes into the flight. this is the second disaster in the air in indonesia in just six months. back in december, 162 people were killed when an air asia jet crashed into the java sea. authorities say they don't know yet how many are military personnel and how many are civilians are they are still in

the process of recovering and identifying bodies. abc 7 news. happening now, hundreds of fires are gaining ground on a 3,000 acre wildfire scorching washington state. strong winds, dry conditions and record-breaking triple digit heat are driving the flames faster than emergency crews can move. homes and mansions have been destroyed. thousands of people had to evacuate. >> flames were going from one house to another catching the roofs oppositen fire. >> you grab your family friends and your animals. >> embers for the fire sparked an ammonia leak at a nearby business that sent up thick toxic black smoke. we are just getting new video out of berkley this morning. incredible story. four 16-year-olds are okay after

losing control of that suv while driving on a curvy road in grizzly peak last night. it happened at about 8:00. you can see just how far the car tumbled. all of the teens were able to go home last night, but they were too afraid to tell their parents. one told their mom this morning. only minor injuries. it will soon cost you more to drive across the golden gate bridge. the toll will increase tomorrow by 25 cents. you'll now pay $6.25. pay by plate will go up to 7.25. golden gate ferry fares will also go up as well. starting tomorrow it is going to cost you more to ride on muni. it will go from 75 cents to $1. monthly passes will increase by

moon bay at 66 degrees. redwood city sunny at 88. san jose a touch warmer than that coming in with a very hot high of 92 degrees. so as we widen out the picture highs today starting in the south bay, lots of sunshine. 90 milpitas. 93 cue downtown san francisco 72. that's cool relatively speaking to our communities today. 95 in napa. 104 in lake port. 92 vallejo. the warmest locations anywhere from 101 in pleasanton and concord up to antioch.

overnight tonight lows it's going to be a mild overnight period. mainly clear skies. temperatures falling into the mid 50s to low 60s across the bay area. today, it's a summer scorcher. that heat is going to hang on for another day wednesday. that's why the heat advisory stretches into the next 48 hours. lots of sunshine and back to average. it's two days of really intense heat, and then we'll start to gradually cool off by the holiday. >> thanks joe. >> i see what you did there. we love each other. >> like a little brother, you are. reality star kim kardashian will be in san francisco tonight sharing the stage at the commonwealth club sharingwith a judge.
