the bay area is bracing for yet another day of triple-digit heat and some people are finding ways to cool off already heading for the water, for example. but the health warnings remain. stay hydrated so you can avoid heatstroke. >> good morning. i'm kristen sze. >> and i'm cheryl jennings. the rising temperatures make a lot of people want to go to the beach. santa cruz is already getting crowded. >> heading live to the east bay, it won't be as hot today inland. but it could feel hotter. let's get to meteorologist

drew for the story. >> it's harder to cool off in this weather and thus it may feel warmer today than yesterday. nonetheless, it's 93 right now in livermore. 87 in san ramon. 86 in fairfield and 85 in san jose. future temperatures show you by 1:00, 97 in antioch. 90 in napa and petaluma. for that reason a heat advisory in effect until 9:00 tonight for all areas shaded in orange. that means there is the increase for a risk of heat-related illness. coming up, we'll talk about cooler air making its way into the bay area and preview the holiday forecast when i have your full forecast in a few minutes. with another scorcher on tap communities expected to get hot are taking action to keep people and pets safe. matt keller is live at the

camden community center in san jose. tough day for outdoor activities. >> reporter: yes, it is. we've got a lot of kids' programs here outside. and you can see that they're doing some type of science experiment. but they're not staying outside for very long. everyone's keeping a close eye on their loved ones, little ones and pets as temperatures soar. working out at the crack of dawn takes discipline. or you could hire a large mus muscular man named bruno to yell at you. at the campbell community center, dozens of people started exercising early while temperatures were still in the mid-60s. >> you don't sweat as much. but it's not showing right now. >> reporter: health experts say heat-related illness and dehydration are real concerns as a heat advisory is in effect until 9:00 tonight. >> you come in the middle of the day when it's hot, it drains you. >> reporter: the dog days of summer can be a big problem for your pets.

a couple of dogs a week suffer from heat stress or stroke. symptoms are excessive panting, desire for water and unwillingness to continue on their walks. >> and you might see vomiting or diarrhea and then collapse and unresponsiveness. generally by that point they're on their way to the hospital. >> reporter: if you start to see the symptoms of heat stress take them out of the heat, wet them with tepid water and give them plenty of water to drink. >> i'm making sure there's tons of shade and tons of water. and make sure they're not moving around too much. the temperature on the sign here at the community center says 89 degrees. just turned to 90 degrees in the last five seconds here. there's a public pool here that opens up at 1:30 this afternoon. matt keller, abc 7 news. the state agency that controls california's power supply declared another state-wide alert for the heat.

residents are being asked to cut back on electric use between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. pg&e is also urging customers to reduce energy use during that time when air conditioners drive high energy use. yesterday was the first time cal iso issued a flex alert in two years. track the high temperatures where you are anytime with the abc 7 weather app. get it for free from apple's app store or google play. we have more information at abc7news.com/apps. breaking news right now in hayward, a private plane landed at hayward airport a short time ago with no landing gear. we were over the scene moments after it landed. we just got an update from the faa which tells us the pilot was the only person on board and was not injured. according to flightaware.com the plane is registered to an architect in

architect. caltrain service is slowly getting back on track. a southbound train fatally struck an adult female this morning the 14th fatality on the tracks this year. trains are single track in the area. delays may be as much as 40 minutes. commuters all across the bay area can expect to pay more to get around starting today. abc 7's janet o joins us with the story. janet? >> reporter: cheryl from toll increases to fare hike, it's affecting a lot of commuters today. we're here where people can catch the muni or the cable cars. they're seeing some of the steepest increases but commuters we talked to say it's a small price to get around. >> it's world famous. >> reporter: elijah mitchell doesn't mind paying $7 for a cable car ride. he says it's a fun way to get to work. >> i'm from louisiana. so every time i think about the

cable car, i think about the rice-a-roni commercials. i always wanted to live here because of that. >> reporter: other hikes taking place include the muni. riders will pay more as well as those with monthly passes. michelle mcwilliams fears the price hike will be too much for those barely getting by. >> it's hard on a lot of people. it's already so expensive for the regular prices. i don't know how people do it. i'm lucky to have my boss who pays for my travel. >> reporter: still most commuters we talk to say paying more for public transportation is worth it considering the alternative. >> i used to have to drive to work, to san francisco, an hour, hour and a half. now it's -- on the ferry, it's 35 minutes, 40 minutes. to get to marin. it's fabulous. >> reporter: golden gate transit increased ferry prices from salt

began just minutes ago at 11:00. legal experts say it indicates he's reached a plea deal with prosecutors. yee is accused of accepting bribes in return for work to help what ended up being a phony business set up by the fbi. we are learning more this morning about yet another historic black church destroyed by a fire. the mt. zion ame in south carolina was once torched by members of the kkk. abc news reporter marcie gonzalez has more. >> reporter: the flames ripping through this historic black church last night bringing federal investigators to rural south carolina. looking into whether nature or hatred could be to blame. law enforcement sources telling abc news that for now it appears the fire was not deliberately set. it may have been caused by lightning. >> we haven't ruled anything in or anything out at this point. >> reporter: mt. zion ame church in greeleyville is now the seventh black church to burn since the deadly shooting at charleston's emanuel ame church

105, brentwood. 101, the high in antioch. relief from the heat is on the way starting tomorrow. thursday afternoon, we do not have triple digits. the warmest spots are in the 90s and even into friday still a cooling pattern prevails. as we prove the all-important holiday weekend forecast saturday july 4th we're not seeing any intense heat. comfortable in terms of july standards and we'll see plenty hoff sunshine for much of the weekend. overnight tonight, mainly clear sky. a little bit of fog along the coast. it's going to be another warm night across the region. upper 50s to upper 60s is what we'll bottom out at. seven-day forecast hot today but today is the peak of the heat. the heat eases on thursday. the cooling continues into friday. we're looking fine for the fourth. as we take a look at the second half of the seven-day forecast, not intense heat. just get through today and
