is. if anyone wants to get an early start on their fourth holiday, now it the siem to do it. we get over to the golden gate bridge and we do not have visibility concerns right now. it looks like the clouds are just hanging at the top of our heads here so you can see clear as you make it into san francisco, not finding any problems. we do have word of a motorcycle crash on i-80 in solano, i'll have details straight ahead. 6:01 now and we continue to follow breaking news out of washington, d.c. >> right now the navy yard remains on lockdown after reports of shots fired. abc news reporter bazi has more. >> reporter: this is the latest we're getting from sources and that is that this all started shortly after 8:00 this morning with at least one phone call into 911 possibly more than one phone call of shots fired.

it has not been confirmed whether there were actually shots fired this morning but within minutes, hundreds of officers from multiple agencies swawrmed the area immediately moving into that building. we have just learned within just a few minutes ago they were completing their sweep of the building. officers went room by room through building 197. employees inside that building were told to shelter in place so those officers interviewed the employees, made sure that the area was cleared and then room by room let them out of the building. we are also hearing that at this point most responders have been told to stand down, and at this point no threat has been found. >> thank you. we have a quick question. explain the big response there from police in this area. why was there such a response for this report? >> reporter: well, certainly there's a history at navy yard. you know it was a little less than three years ago that there

was a terrible shooting at navy yard just about this exact same time of day. similar circumstances. shots, people hearing shots fired. calls going into 911 and in that case a military contractor killed 12 people at the navy yard in the very same building that police were searching today. back then, three years ago, there were a lot of frustrations, allegations that the response was not as effective as it needed to be. this time police weren't taking any chances. they were going to get there right away and they were going to get there in force. >> thank you for that update. 6:03 now back here new this morning your electric bill may be going up against. the state public utilities commission is eyeing a revamp of electric rates statewide. >> reporter: good morning. people who leave their porch lights on overnight may now want to rethink doing so if a new

proposal passes customers would see their power bill increase by as much as $10. now, the proposal came out just yesterday released by two state judges. low income families served would be charged a minimum of $5. a majority of californians served would pay double that amount. this would penalize customers who typically conserved power usage and pays less than what it costs to supply power by utility companies. people we spoke with this morning were not happy to hear of yet another rate hike. >> $10 a month yes, because i'm a single dad now, and you know, things are tight now. water is going up and everything is going up. gas is going up. so yes, it's a it will affect my pocket book. >> the state public utilities commission is expected to vote on the issue tomorrow on the eve of fourth of july.

the move is being met with a lot of criticism. critics such as the sierra club who say if the electricity rates are raised, it would hurt low income families and low energy users. reporting live here in dublin, janet o. happening now police are interviewing witnesses after a woman was shot the ai motel 6 on commerce boulevard. officers arrived at the scene after receiving a call just before 2:00 this morning. the woman is in her mid 20s at the hospital with two gunshot wounds. developing news. police are trying to figure out this morning if a man they have in custody is the one who shot a woman near san francisco's ferry building. a 31-year-old woman from pleasantton died at the hospital shortly after she was shot near pier 14 last nie. she was hit once in the upper torso while visiting the scenic site with her father.

police later detain a man who fit the description provided by witnesses. investigators have not said whether he was ers -- ers arrested or whether he fired the fatal shot. red wood city tenl nants will meet with council members today. 18 families were given eviction notices because they couldn't pay a rent increase. they can't afford to move anywhere else in redwood city. eight of the families have decided to stay. president obama will travel to wisconsin today that would talk about a new rule that will make more minimum wage workers to be paid overtime. many employers trying to get around paying overtime by designating their workers as managers. this will stop that practice.

californians are doing a great job conserving water. it's well above 25% governor brown asked for in april. a cooler and wetter may may have helped. overall, water use in the bay area was down 32%. people used an average of just 66 gallons a day. that's the lowest for any part of the state except the north coast. residents will pick up the pieces in missouri due to what many believe is a tornado. the town of lees summit was practically blown over. a semi we saw a moment ago was on its house. the helicopter caught transformers blowing up. the storm also brought hail and flood waters to the area. a flash flood warning is in effect for parts of the show me state. two people in maine are safe this morning after a daring river rescue in the thick of some fast-moving rapids. the rescue was caught on camera by a drone, but that's not all.

we have breaking news on a wildfire that we're getting information on from krx al fire. it's hard to tell if it's smoke or fog right now. >> hazy conditions out there. it sounds like it's on san francisco public utilities property. very remote area inside the park. not a real big concern for homes in that area. obviously, firefighters are on the scene there. they are going to be attacking dry conditions out there. we've had obviously bone dry conditions for a while. obviously, the conditions are ripe for fire and wildfire.

police are investigating a person of interest for the shooting death of a woman in a popular tourist area of san francisco. the shooting happened last night at 6:30. this am toour video was taken right after the incident, the witness heard the gunshot and videoed this from a 15th floor apartment. a 31-year-old woman was killed who was visiting the area with her father. >> i walked over to the woman and they were performing cpr on a lady and they took her on a stretcher. >> we're asking anyone any member of the public if they captured any of this on their cell phone, they witnessed any of this, to please come forward and contact sfpd. >> detectives did find and detain a man who fit the description of the person who may have shot her. they have not said whether he was arrested or if they believed he pulled the trigger. they also haven't said what they

think was the motivation behind the shooting. >> san francisco police are investigating a motorcycle accident that sent four people to the hospital. police say the motorcycle hit a group of people in a crosswalk as they crossed market street just after 9:00 last night. witnesses say the motorcycle was speeding up third on to market. one man was just feet away when his friend was hit. >> the motorcyclist kind of jumped on to the curb. going about 30, 40 miles an hour. he hits our friend. she falls face forward. he comes and he hits the news stand here and in doing so, he hit someone else. >> four people went to the hospital, including the motorcyclist. one person has life threaten ing injuries. fire investigators are looking into into what caused a building in petaluma to catch fire. the fire was knocked down quickly. the single story building houses several businesses. there were no reports of any injuries.

southern california crews this morning battling a fast-moving vegetation fire in moreno valley. it started just after 8:30 last night. about 175 acres have burned so far. flames are moving toward the state park where campers are being evacuated. no structures are threatened. the cause of the fire has not been determined. the city of fairfield has closed three parks for the upcoming holiday weekend because of the potential for fire due to the hot weather and dry conditions. rockville hills regional park, spy glass open space and the surface ranch open space will close 8:00 tomorrow night until 6:00 a.m. monday. 300 people attended a rally to show support for the lgbt community and to a mural illustrating gay life. ♪ ♪ the mural has been vandalized three times in the three weeks
