honoring america with dazzling displays of fireworks across the bay area tonight. legal and illegal. good evening. happy fourth of july. we're going to start with the illegal fireworks in many communities still going off now. in some cases the fireworks are as good as the ones the pros use and officials are cracking down. abc 7 news reporter live in emoryville with the danger they pose. >> reporter: a lot of official fireworks displays across the bay area wrapped up. we have been watching illegal fireworks displays for several hours. over the skyline of oakland there are some going on right

now. before the sun set on this fourth of july the unofficial fire work displays went off. this is cell phone video of illegal fireworks in oakland. police and fire across the bay area have been concerned. >> we urge people with the dry conditions that fireworks can be very damaging. this is why they're concerned. crews spent hours battling a brushfire in the oakland hills. justin graham noticed smoke before his run. >> hekers said stop turnturn -- hikers said stop, and turn arun around around. >> and he also heard something. >> because it is fourth of july may have been trying to have fun. the wrong place to have fun. >> investigators found a fire work on the hill and determined started as brushfire that consumed three acres. no homes were damaged. a scary afternoon brought back

will go to help a family in santa clara bury their mother. she died this week after falling into a river. celebrating her u.s. citizenship when she some how fell into the water. firefighters rescued her. but she died wednesday. and she leaves behind two adult children. if you would look to help with burial expenses. go to abc 7 news.com. new individually tonight showing the arrest of the man accused of killing a woman on pier 14 this week. our sources close to the investigation say 45-year-old francisco sanchez admitted shooting kate and it was accidental. sanchez wanted to shoot at sea lions but his gun accidentally went off. lived in san francisco but a native of pleasanton. this video shows the moment sanchez was taken into custody by police after an hour after

the shooting wednesday evening. near pier 40 by a bystander. the family set up an online fund-raising page to earn money for the funeral. and collect donations for the charities important to kate. we have a link to it on our website. abc news.com. >> abc 7 news was at the scene of a house fire in san jose tonight. reported just before 9:30. the fire went to two alarms. heavy smoke and flames were scene from the house by the time firefighters arrived. they had trouble dealing with the fire. and because of hoarding inside. in east san jose fire fighters conattend a grasstained a grass fire. the fire called in after 2:00 this afternoon between mckey. smoke blew over the freeway. chp directed traffic around it. two lanes of southbound traffic had to be closed temporarily. the fire was out just before

injured when a small plane crashed in carlsbad. carrying an ad banner. people on the beach got out of the way so it could land. the piper aircraft flipped over. the 12-year-old on the beach was treated for a cut to his head. expected to be okay. the pilot was not hurt. state investigators will look into why a tree fell at mount diablo injuring two campers one seriously. abc 7 news recorder, spoke with witnesses today, who saw the frightening incident. >> reporter: park owe facials say a portion of the tree came crashing down -- park officials say a portion of the tree came crashing down. >> what's the crackling? fireworks. fourth of july. started crashing. a loud boom. >> the family in tents nearby. >> i was look really scared. i didn't know what happened. >> reporter: according to park

officials, a portion of the tree crashed into the campground. two families were staying. one man had a minor back injury. taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure. the other had more serious head injuries and air lifted to a hospital. >> i have had pretty bad luck camping myself. never that bad. >> park officials tell me environmental experts will come from sacramento to get a closer look at the tree and investigate why a portion may have fallen. in the midst of chaos, family left their belongings behind including children's toys. today one of the families came become to pack up and get out. they said they were too upset to speak on camera. also that their friend were still in the hospital. but would hopefully recover and be released soon. aside from the area taped off the park is otherwise open. at mount diablo melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. >> most expensive zip coden enn enin the u.s. no longer in the bay area.

good evening. and we have breaking news. happening now in vacaville. evacuations after a three alarm fire that threatened homes. police took the video near keating park. evacuation center set up at three oaks community center. police and sheriffs departments across the bay area will spend tonight cracking down on illegal fireworks. authorities are especially concerned this year because of the dry conditions and high fire danger. illegal fireworks caused a brushfire in the oakland hills this afternoon. new video obtained by abc 7 news shows police arresting the man. accused of killing a woman on wednesday. francisco sanchez admit to
