afternoon. a source tells us they've amassed a lot of evidence. police saw our jail house interview and tries to resolve the story. police made a visit last night after airing the interview. investigators zeroed in on benches on the pedestrian pier. looking meticulously for evidence that would support the story he found the gun at a bench. >> where did you get the gun? >> i see over there something like that. >> sanchez the gun was wrapped in a tee shirt and it went off when he picked it up.

sources tell us investigators don't believe his story. sanchez told him after he was arrested here at pier 40 that he was shooting at sea lions when the gun discharged. police don't believe he found the gun at a bench or there were three shots, as sanchez said. witnesses say they only heard one shot. sanchez did admit in the interview he shot steinly. he claims he kicked the gun into the bay immediately afterwards and walked off. there may be security video showing him tossing the murder weapons into the waters. a source tells us it was a semi automatic handgun. >> one shooting over san
