assistant director about this case. miller pointed the fing ir at the san francisco's sheriff's department. they'll hold a hearing with homeland security officials next week to discuss studenteinle's death. >> they've obtained sanchez's complete criminal history. he was convicted five times on drug charges. at least three involving heroin. he was deported the furst time in 1994 and arrested again in arizona just 20 days later. deported four more times in '97 '98, 2003 and 2009. each time getting caught and returned to a jail. he finished serving a 46-month federal sentence. developing news tonight out of vallejo.

a possible police standoff is under way. one person was shot at capital and alameda. sky 7 hd was overhead just as police responded. two people walked out of the housewith with their hands up. it's unclear if police are still trying to detain others. follow us on twitter for the latest developments on this story. a motorcyclist who slammed into a pair of pedestrians killing one of them has been charged with several felonies. last wednesday, 26-year-old shawn mcginnis was drunk when he struck two people. one of them died a day later. yesterday prosecutors charged mcginnis with two felony duis and one felony vehicular manslaughter charge. tased once and shot three times. new details in the fatal police shooting of john denny jr.

>> every officer-involved shooting has to be taken seriously because of possible charges of excessive force. this one is even more sensitive because the victim, the person shot by pleasanton police happens to be the son of a reserve police officer. and that has raised some questions. this happened on sunday morning about 2:00 a.m. in a car dealership in downtown pleasanton. the family has hired the geragos law firm. they are suspicious of the account pleasanton police have given. john denning sr. is a nine-year reserve officer for oakdale police and believes pleasanton officers escalated the situation. john jr. known as bub abroke into a pleasanton car dealership early sunday where he keyed cars and wrote on the walls. >> i thought i had a law enforcement family. i thought i could trust the training of other police

officers. it's unbelievable to me. i don't know if i want to go back to work. i've lost my son. i don't know where to go from here. i don't know what to do. >> pleasanton police held a press conference. their version of what happened when seven officers responded and confronted the star football player who graduated last year from piedmont hills high school. john jr., known as bubba turned aggressive and kicked an officer in the stomach. that's when officer dan kunkle shot 3 times at the officer hitting him in the torso and head. >> stopped and turned and just charged right at officer kunkle. kicked him in the stomach and punched him a few times in the face and head area. the officer fell backward and hit his head on the concrete and then jumped on top of him and began essentially pummeling him.

>> the officer thought he was going to lose consciousness and that's why he decided to lose fire. he was on the ground when he fired the shots. bubba's mother is also distressed about what hand on this street in san jose when pleasanton police arrived with a search warrant. they hand cuffed her and then did not even tell her initially that her son had been killed. we'll have more on that coming uppa abc 7 news at 6:00. live in san jose david lui abc 7 news. in just two days there will be a major closure at one of though main approaches to the golden gate bridge. caltran plans to completely close doyle drive to continue work on the presidio parkway. it's been under construction since 2009. abc 7 news was on doyle drive for a look at the work today. there are new tunnels and wide or lanes. caltran said we should expect major delays and commuters

covering cupertino, concord wine country and all the bay area this is abc 7 news. >> firefighters in contra costa county quickly put out a fire burning along highway 4. air tankers and helicopters dropped a steady stream of water. neighbors living nearby also jumped into action pulling out home garden hoses to try to put the flames out. it burned close to some houses but a number of fire breaks kept the flames at bay. the grass fire burned about two acres behind sycamore valley school. it was contained within a few hours. golden gate bridge drivers may have noticed people dangling off the span. rope teams began routine inspections on the south end of

state senator -- >> though uc system wants more college systems on campus. uc president janet napolitano announced clearer rules to make transferring easier. it will set up pathways for ten of the most popular majors. community college students will be able to chart out the courses they need to take to transfer to a uc school. a massive sheet of rock fell from the face of half dome which makes the most popular route used by climbers more difficult. it measures 100 by 200 feet. park officials are trying to fig are out how the new route changes the climb. there are other routes for climbers going up that 1,000-foot face. no one witnessed the fall which is believed to have happened one night last week. a consumer group has filed a

complaint against google. >> michael finney is here to explain about the right to be forgotten. >> everything you did doesn't follow you around for your entire life. perhaps you have done something in your youth that you'd rather not have come up in a google search 30 years later. consumer watchdog wants people to have the right to request removal of certain links connected to their names in an internet search. it's called the right to be forgotten. people in europe have that right right now. but we don't in the u.s. google pointed out ftc commissioner ramirez has said the right to be forgotten would be unconstitutional in the united states. the air fare preductor app hopper says the average air fare this fall will be less than $250. it would be the lowest in four

years. $9 lower than last year and $22 less than in 2013. hopper also predicts holiday air fares will be 12% less than last year. it wasn't too long ago americans were buried in credit card debt. a new study by life insurance company allianz is raising concerns another generation may be falling into that trap again. generation x sees credit card debt as a lifeline and survival tool. 75% carry credit card debt versus 32% of baby boomers. many gen-x ers are delaying saving for retirement to pay don their debt. as people get older they start paying don their debts. young people tend to build up more debt. let's talk about a spectacular day. >> sandhya patel joins us with
