an official document that shows the sheriff requested francisco sanchez be returned to san francisco on a 20-year-old marijuana charge. sheriff mirkarimi told abc7 his department was only responding to a federal request. as we first reported the gun used in the shooting was stolen from a federal officer's car a week earlier. the barrel of land management ranger reported it as soon as he noticed it missing but san francisco police department did not investigate the stolen gun until after the kate steinle shooting. a city-wide bulletin was issued but that is as far as it went because they had no suspect or lead. >> the bay area is funding a nonprofit that minute a lot to kate steinle with campaigns on gofundme have raised $65,000. after memorial expenses the money will go to towarding charitable groups mere and dear to her heart. the family members say that is part of her legacy. if you would like to give we
