>> live from the kgo broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> it's saturday, july 11th. thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. a first look at the forecast. lisa has the day off but leyla is here. >> good morning. the satellite quiet. we have a quiet start to the weekend. in fact, as we take a look at the exploratorium camera toward downtown san francisco. you see a little bit of puffy clouds hanging over the bay area. tomorrow some clouds. it will turn into a warm and sunny weekend. but the warm temperatures don't come back next week. you see the cloud deck. it's keeping temperatures a little on the cooler side and the inland areas. what is interesting is it is

going to be a little warmer by the coast. current temperatures right now san francisco, 60 degrees. it's going to be the upper 50s for mountain view san jose, morgan hill and half moon bay. >> leyla, thank you. time now is 5:01. developing news out of vallejo. firefighters are at the scene of a vegetation fire. the fire broke out at about 10:30 last night and was under control a half-hour later. crews will stay at the keen of the five acre fire until there are no more hotspots. sky 7hd was above a 45-acre fire about a mile away. the firefighters he want it from reaping homes nearby. a scary story out of the east bay this morning. police say there's a fake officer, complete with an official s.u.v., stalking people. an employee at the lawrence livermore national laboratory said she was followed all the way to tracey by what appeared

to be a livermore police s.u.v.. >> we have the story >> the reason they know it wasn't anosser the police officers only use ford explorer s.u.v.s and all have specific painting on the side and that's not the type of vehicle that was following the lab employee. >> you notice the white s.u.v., followed her. the white tahoe or suburban had a police light bar open top and unlike real police cars with simple livermore police letters it has the words capitalized and uncapitalized. the caller said the s.u.v. followed her for miles along testler road all the way to tracey. because she was nervous she never went home and drove into her driveway and the s.u.v. drove by. the next day she gave employees a heads-up of what happened.

rare commute day road closer. katie marzullo abc7 news. >> the doyle drive closer stopped a drunk driver trying to get away from the highway patrol troll yesterday. he crashed his mustang on the golden gate bridge. he then got boxed in by a line of chp cruisers who happened to be at the closer. they had to break out his window to arrest him. download our free abc7 news app. we will also let you know as soon as doyle drive reopens. a man fell on a track last night. the 57-year-old became trapped under the platform at the north station. bart officials closed the station while rescue workers pulled her to safety.

she remained conscious and they took her to the hospital. they do not suspect foul play. >> a bargaining team for the largest union for workers to santa clara county will meet to discuss the next step after members discussed a new four-year contract proposal. right now 9,000 county workers including 911 dispatchworkers hospital lab technicians and social workers are working without a contract. pay, staffing and healthcare contributions are the key sticking points. forensic investigators have confirmed a gun found in the bay was used to shoot and kill a woman in san francisco. francisco sanchez has been charged with the murder of kate steinle on pier 14 last week. sheriff ross mirkarimi defended his actions yesterday keeping sanchez in san francisco after an arrest instead of turning him over to immigration officials. he said i.c.e. did not make the

criminals in jail, oftentimes after they have killed somebody or hurt somebody >> the father of drew rosenberg met with trump yesterday. rosenberg was killed by an undocumented immigrant in 2010 after being hit on his motor cycle and them run over several times. map served 43 days in jail and was deported after a long court battle involving rosenberg's father. don rosenberg doesn't want undocumented immigrants to be allowed to d. >> during the hearing you hear they have to work, they contribute and they have to take kids to school. and that's the reason why it's okay they kill people. >> my brothers and sisters the working community we're not good enough. >> he calls his criminals and rapists, we are none of the above. >> demonstrators protested outside the news conference. a bigger protest is expected to meet him in phoenix today. some farmers who were

i-phone right out of her hands. the 31-year-old woman tried to chase the man down who the man whose dashboard camera recorded the incident gave chase too. no one was hurt but no arrests have been made. speaking of cell phones an increasing number of artists say the devices are disrupting their shows. it happened during a recent broadway show at new york's lincoln center and you are about to see what a star did. abc7 news reporter spoke with theater goers in san jose to get their reaction. >> broadway star lapone is being applauded in more ways than one. she had enough when she saw someone texting during her performance. she snatched the phone away. >> she was sitting in the second seat and she was oblivious to everyone except for herself and her phone. >> we spoke to patrons at the stage company who say they pay good money to see a live show but all too often gets disrupt bid someone near them.

but if you are driving one of those solar-powered vehicles, you won't have any problem. you won't stall anywhere because we have lots of sunshine ahead of us. take look at live doppler 7hd radar satellite. not bringing back any recurrence. it's a quiet start right now. we have a little bit of a low cloud deck hanging over the bay area. but that is soon to dissipate. it's already starting to mix out. we take look from our emeryville camera toward san francisco and the eastern span of the bay bridge. you see fairly clear conditions as we look toward the west and the south. visibility, pretty much unlimited everywhere with the exception of a bit of fog near santa rosa and on the coast at half moon bay if you are traveling along the coast be careful and use your low beams this morning. a radar satellite is showing the trough of low pressure that will be circling around and bringing in moisture for many of our areas of the bay particularly in the east bay. but then that's all going to move out and it's going to be replaced with some high pressure as we move a little closer towards the middle of next week.

looking right now from our sfo camera. you see the clouds and already we start to see some breaks there. current temperatures in san francisco, 60 degrees. 62 in oakland. in the upper 50s from mountain view san jose. 57 morgan hill. half moon bay at 57 degrees. and it's going to be a little bit warmer by the coast than it is in the inland areas. it's actually going to be below average inland. being, we have the avon walk this weekend. our start will be at 60 degrees. it will be on the cooler side by 10:00 a.m. 64 degrees. 68 and sunny by 2:00 p.m. and 74 degrees by this evening. so definitely going to want to pass the cool pack. the baseball forecast, the giants take on the phillies at at&t park, first pitch 63 degrees. and sunset at 8:33. a high for today around the bay area, mostly sunny and warm. 79 degrees in the south bay many degrees and sunnyvale. along the peninsula you will find 77 degrees in redwood city.

>> an east bay family is offering a $10,000 reward for the return of their stolen going. the family posted signs all over lafayette-safe way where the dog was oner. he left cooper a 60-pound lab bra doodle in his car for less than 15 minutes and when he returned the dog was gone. a young white woman unlocked the door, open the door and snatched the dog. >> i take cooper wherever i go. this time i went a little too far with the window. i'm blaming myself, of course, but i hope we can find him. >> cooper's family said if the person who wants to return the dog to him, they will not press any charges. this morning federal officials are warning boaters to be careful when sailing near marin coast because of the number of whales. so far this has been a great whale watching season so

n.a.s.a. has revealed the explosion of the spacex rocket last month cost taxpayers $110 million. it exploded just two minutes into the flight. more than 4,000 pounds of food, clothing and science experience went up in smoke. n.a.s.a. also said it paid spacex 80% of the fee it was scheduled to receive for the mission >> a few years ago researchers discovered an invisible planet. they know it's there but they just can't see it. now some u. c. researchers have found ways to find planets while they are asleep. eric thomas looks inside the automated planet finder. >> this is an artist's representation of the planets we discovered. >> you can say it's all in a night's warning for lauren but the process takes longer. that's why lawyer and her team members at the university of california set out to super

50 millionth fan to at&t park. last night of the giants made history breaking their at&t record with 22 hits. here's rick quan with the miles in this morning's sports report. >> good morning. last night giants-greece game figured to be a ticker game. madison bumgarner and cole hamill. instead it turned into a blowout. this young philly fan would not have much to cheer about. one of his worse starts he struck out 7. giants broke it open in the fourth. angel pegan drives in a run with had hit. with the bases loaded, hunter pence takes hamill deep to right for the grand slam. hamill was roughed up for 9 runs. and this ball bounces off the right field bleachers in mccovey cove. the giants with a season-high 15 runs and 22 hits that.
