>> a a deadly discovery. five body inside a home in modesto in central valley. police are treating it as a crime scene and have named a person of interest in the case. good evening. abc 7 news reporter live in the newsroom with the latest on the breaking story. sergio. >> this is a murder investigation that has been in progress now for just a few hours. police in modesto are still piecing together the details. here's what we know. at 3:30 this afternoon. officers were called for a security check on a home on the 26,000 block. when they arrived they found five body two. adults. three children. police have not released details on how the people may have been killed. but in the last hour, they have i identified 30-year-old martin

>> drew. thank you. the summer storm caused problems across southern california today. power want out to more than 10,000 customers this afternoon. the threat of lightning strikes forced authorities to close 70 miles of los angeles county beach as well the popular santa monica pier. lightning hit two planes in southern california and caused long delays at the airports down there. and an airline flight from l.a. to washington, d.c. had to turn back this afternoon because of lightning. and southwest flight from oakland to orange county. landed safely after being hit by lightning. flood video out of arizona. see the water washed away road and it is flowing right next to homes. several mobile homes were actually washed away and several other houses are threatened. the flooding came from the same storm that hit southern california today. >> a top football recruit who would have played for san jose state in the fall will now never

a woman want ford stealing from cars. police say this woman is a suspect in multiple thefts from cars in the area. the thefts all happened this morning. a brushfire near interstate 15 in southern california is almost halfway contained tonight. thunderstorms today helped firefighters keep the north fire in the cajon pass area from growing. it is 45% contained. 700 structures threatened by the flames. three homes destroyed. one person was hurt. all lanes of height way though are now open. that's where dozens of cars trucks and boats burned yesterday. >> we're trying to get out all of these people. lost their cars. >> some people who abandon vehicles on the freeway to evacuate had to pay up to $1,100 in towing fee tuesday. >> people using drones delayed fire fighting efforts at cajon pass for 26 minutes. a spokeswoman for cal fire says drones are a problem and fires

recent rains created a fabulous flower show. the lake itself may be headed into record low territory. abc 7 news anchor has the story. >> lake tahoe's stunning blue color is in full display this summer. but check out the mountain tops around the basin. they're usually covered with snow this time of year. now all you see are a few tiny white patches that means almost no snow to provide run-off into lake tahoe. water level is so low there is no wave you could actually get a boat up to these piers. and you have to walk a long way through very shallow water before you can even think about trying to swim. >> as much as we had late rains or early summer rains it doesn't replace the vital snow pack. >> tahoe got twice the rain in may. heavy dose of showers in the last couple week. that wasn't enough to lift fire restrictions at campground but did set the stage for a spectacular show. >> we are seeing a stellar display of wild flowers this

year. >> u.s. forest service says there are reports of unusually abundant flowers all over the tahoe basin. these are at the southened of the lake eight years ago. that fire opened up the grndound to sun light. this is the payoff. >> through restoration efforts we are undertaking now. have undertaken in the recent past. starting to see post fire recovery. >> despite drought conditions. tahoe tourism officials are projecting summer visitors will be up as much as 20% over last year. there is plenty to do. but one thing that is not on the ajen a agenda is rafting. for the second year in a row. there is not enough water. the river's fish are also in trouble. the water is so low it is much warmer than usual and that's killing a lot of trout. some fishermen are urging others not to fish the river. so the trout that do survive will be able to reproduce for next year.
