t a good time to be hiking in the middle of the night. very dark. very dangerous. here is video of the man who was rescued. two men were hiking close to the water, a trail off of lands end and one man fell 300'. crews were calling his name and he did not answer. they were worried. when they got to him he was alive. being out here at 1:00 o'clock in the morning going on a hike is a bad idea. >> there are no lights. this is not a good place to hike, a lot of narrow pacts and roads and it is easy if you are not familiar with the trails to fall off the cliff. stay away. do not come out here at >> rescuers say the man was bang up but he will be okay. swimmers had to swim out to him

to get him. he was in such a remote area to reach. they have not released his name or information. >> developing news we are learning more of five people murdered in modesto including a suspect six-month-old daughter and her mother, 30-year-old martin martinez is in the santa clara county jail this morning. police arrested him at the mall in san jose yesterday morning. candles have been placed outside the home in modesto where officers found the bodies of three little girls and two female adults. police conducted a welfare check. investigators have not released the names but the family of dr. amanda crews said she is among the dead. >> we have determined there is a past relationship between martin and one of the victims inside and one of the children is his. >> amanda crews was a physician and neighbors say she recently moved into her home with

martinez. our reporter will join us from san jose at the next hour with more on the story. >> quick work by crews permit add brushfire from spreading. this cell phone shows flames crawling up will hillside last night at 8:00 near foothill road and 580. crews from cal fire assisted in holding the flames to two acres. say the rain bombed a - that rain calmed a large extras fire that is 75 percent burning 4,200 acres destroying 20 cars and trucks as drivers ran for their live when the freeway jumped the freeway. seven homes were burned. investigators are looking into what sparked the fire. >> images from southern california where a bridge on interstate 10 in riverside collapsed. a driver was hurt.

the driver was rescued after the truck fell into the river below the washed out road yesterday. a passenger got out okay. interstate 10 is a key route between southern california and arizona. the highway is closed in both directions at eagle mountain road 50 miles west of the arizona border. on drivers are stranded. that stretch of the highway will be closed indefinitely. the recommenden thats of delores brought record-breaking rain to southern and central california this weekend and caused mudslides in san bernardino and los angeles angels and padres games were rained out for the first time in years. mike will have more on the summer storms in a couple of minutes. >> san jose police will field test body cameras. 15 officers will wear the cameras between new and october testing three different types of the devices. after the three month pilot program the department will choose a camera. the expire police force will be trained by june. the cameras are expected to cost

the city $1 million. it is 4:34. also today measures plan to picket outside contra costa regional medical center in martinez and belong to the california nurses association. the union has been without a contract since last year and union leaders accusedth of sketch dazing patient safety and officials have not commented on the accusations. >> it has been a month since the balcony collapsed in berkeley killing six students five from ireland. last night a traditional irish mass was hold. family members of the victims were there. abc7 reporter lilian kim has the story. >> friends and family members of the victims were joined by others in the community who came to pay respects. it has been a month since severe dry rot caused the balcony to collapse. six people died on the balcony and seven others were injured. >> you would think they would feel like we failed them. people keep saying, thank you for all you have done and i think, my god, we have not done

community that continues to find comfort in grieving together. >> san francisco police hope someone will recognize a person caught on surveillance video vandalizing a controversial mural in the mission district. you can see a man splashing a flammable liquid on to the mural at 24th on june 29 and lights the liquid and runs away. this is the 4th time that someone has damaged the mural since debuting last month mixing lgbt and latino culture. >> an investigation continues and a deadly crash this in monday -- monterey bicycle race with two rushed to nearby hops where the two bicyclist died both from spain. no word on the cause of the crash. >> oakland city officials are expected to respond this morning to a developers coliseum city

hit-and-run drivers in california. a bill would institute a yellow alert system allowing c.h.p. to post an alert with a description of the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run if the driver left behind someone dead or seriously injured. the c.h.p. is not supporting the bill with concerns it would dilute the impact of amber alert. >> the united states and cuba have formally restored full diplomatic recommendations for the first time in half a century. we have more on this moment great washington dc. >> good morning. president obama said united states disengagement with cuba has not work. big issues remain after months of negotiations but the leaders say this is the best way to move toward resolving them. >> the cuban flag raised inside the united states state department this morning and soon will fly outside the embassy in washington dc, for the first

time in half a century. over in cuba workers have been sprucing up the building that today, is again an american embassy. cuban president said this day is the beginning of a long and complex road to normalizing relations between the two countries that severed ties back in 1961 shortly after a young fidel castro seized power declaring cuba a socialist state. more than 50 years later, president obama decided it is time for a new approach. secretary of state john kerry will meet with his cuban counterpart at the state department later today and will travel to cuba next month for a formal ceremony at the united states embassy there. >> big thank you to the thousands of people would made this year's aids walk san francisco a huge success. 20,000 people in the bay area raised $2.2 to help people living with hiv and aids.

enjoy, live doppler hd shows the activity that would hatcher the commute but it does look quiet from our perspective. to the south you can see scattered showers lingering and it is really southeast of us that we will have the best chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms today and you can see over the next three hours we may get a stray shower near the coast but for the most part our commute will be dry but we are going to watch this wall of wart try to work its way toward us and that puts the south bay and inland east bay in the most likely area that could see a shower or two and there is enough instability for thunder. as muggy as it is in the lower atmosphere it is dry compared to the mid-level so be thankful we don't have that humidity over the top of us when we head into the money 80s in the south bay today, sunnyvale and santa clara at 87 and san jose 88 but nearly 90 in gilroy and morgan hill and los gatos at 92. moving up the peninsula, upper

80s to nearly 90, redwood city and palo alto and mountain view and menlo park at 86. san mateo is 62. in the low-to-mid 70s along the coast and nearly 80 in downtown but unlike yesterday we are going to run up to 80 and we should pull back a little bit during the afternoon hours hoping the sea breeze re-develops late this afternoon. we have upper 60s in bodega bay and 20-25 degrees warmer inland from 89 in petaluma to 90 in santa rosa and novato and 91 and same in sonoma to 92 in napa today it is 78 in berkeley and richmond at 77 and low-to-mid 80s for the rest of the east bay shoreline with oakland at 80 and fremont at 84 degrees. if the air conditioning was running yesterday it will be running again today low-to-mid 90s from 90 in san ramon and pleasanton to antioch and pittsburg at 96 degrees. tonight, lows are not so warm as this morning but close. low-to-mid 60s down along the
