police say the suspect, mark estrada is believed to be booked into jail today on one count of homicide. police say they're still investigating the evidence pulled from estrada's oakland home. and at this point, it's too early to say the murder web onwas obtained. a public funeral service has been scheduled for july 30th at 10:00 a.m in castro valley. >> the work we call police officers to do puts them and their lives in jeopardy every day, every stop. >> congressman eric swalwell paid tribute to officer lunger today and vice president biden paid tribute today as well.

sierra. a new summer wildfire has broken out in the area of kyburz. firefighters are using a super scooper. so far, the fire burned 100 acres mandatory evacuations have been ordered in sandy flats. another fire is burning near rutherford. firefighters dropped water on it from lake hennessey. if you see smoke or flames and are in a safe area post photos and video using the hashtag abc7 now but make sure you're in a safe location.

in pacifica, firefighters are battling this bush fire. this viewer nicholas says it got close to some residences. this fire started near cindy way. abc7 news viewer nancy sent this us photo. right now there are no reports of damage or there is no injuries as well. now, firefighters appear to be making good progress in napa county. the out of control fire has been burning more than 24 hours this is a live look from sky 7 at the blaze, which is now blackened nearly 7,000 acres, only 15% contained. take a look at the flames. >> there is still work to do the fire broke out near the cold canyon area spreading quickly.

the golden bear community is under evacuations. >> cal fire tells us this fire is in an especially-difficult area. it has steep terrain it is very remote, and so it's just making it very hard to fight the fire. >> winds have made the flames very difficult to slow down too. when it is breezy it just fans flames. >> cal fire captain jerry fernandez joins us on the phone. thanks for joining us. what is the latest? it's now 7,000 acres? >> yes. it's roughly 6800 acres. about 15% containment, currently. and we have great efforts by approximately 1300 firefighting personnel on this fire, as well as cooperation of all of the land owners. they've done a great job on their defensible space clearance and we appreciate that.

now abc7 news was in santa rosa as three air tankers arrived to fire up with fire retardant. today, heavy smoke is hampering efforts. half of the flames are making drops because of reduced visibility. residents who live near the rag fire are keeping an anxious eye on the hills many evacuated their homes and others decided to stay put. for now, winds kept the fire from getting closer but that could change if there is a change in direction. >> it's okay until you can see the flames. it's just one way in and one way out. until the bottom of the road. >> are you worried? >> yes. the fire has not only displaced people but animals

it's a case of the so called new economy, gone wrong. a local woman came back from a trip to discover a nightmare, and the headaches were only beginning. jonathan bloom has the story. >> reporter: this happened in april, when misty rash went to the airport and left her car with a service called flight car. her car wasn't there and the problem got worse. the process is simple. they rent your car out when they're away. >> the past couple years it was fine. >> reporter: misty rash calls herself a former customer because of this unpleasant

pacheco. police say a transient identified at erin good, attacked the clerk after being told to leave the store. a teen-aged boy who escaped his care giver's abuse will receive $4 million in settlement. social workers were said to have failed to protect the boy known as kyle. he was starved and chain by the his care givers. kyle says justice isn't just for him, but for kids all over who struggle just like me. let's talk about the big fire we're following burning in napa, yolo and solano county. the fire is putting out a lot of smoke, so much so that smoke could be seen all the way to sacramento. you can see all of the smoke from the fi in this video from sky 7 hd. it's unbelievable.

good evening scott kazmir woke up thinking he was going to pitch for the a's, instead, traded to astros. it was not a huge surprise, he was an asset waiting to be dealt. a's sending him to houston for a pair of prospects at a ball at this point. kazmir 20 and 14 with a season and a half with the a's, he goes home, he's from houston and this seems in the middle of a playoff chase. you can look for perhaps tyler clifford among the a's. who could be traded next if they try to rebuild. >> we've seen it happen here. i've seen a lot of guys come and go you know? it seems like a lot of names don't stick around in this club
