gg making news in america this morning, breaking overnight, deadly shooting inside a crowded movie theater. a chaotic scene unfolding in the middle of a comedy. what we've learned about the suspected gunman and the teacher who likely saved several lives. two wildfires rapidly spreading. people forced to quickly evacuate. driving down the street. just feet from the flames. hundreds of buildings and homes burning and more being threatened right now. an amazing rescue banding together a group of people lifting a car off a motorcyclist. caught on camera. prodigy, a second grader already getting national attention because of her golf game.

on thursday friday morning we have to begin with breaking news out of louisiana. a theater packed turns to tragedy after a gunman starts firing. >> three dead including the gunman. the victims ranges from teenagers to people in their 60s. >> the scene right now live outside the theater in lafayette, louisiana, an active scene. authorities have been busy and at this hour they continue their investigation including a part of this has been ex-employeding suspicious packages that they found in the suspected shooter's car. >> and stories of heroism already ee americaing including a teacher who warned others about the shooting. we get more from abc's bazi kanani. >> reporter: at this louisiana movie theater a comedy flick ended in horror when police say a man stood up 20 minutes into the film and opened fire. more than 100 people inside ran.

>> the whole group of people teenagers mainly, running out telling everybody to run for their life and saw a lady with blood all over her leg. i grabbed my child and we all ran. >> reporter: officers near the grand 16 theater moved in immediately. >> officers entered to engage the shooter. they did hear shots being fired at that time. >> reporter: the gunman killed two people and injured another nine before turning the gun on himself. police are not yet releasing his identity but say he was a 58-year-old white male. louisiana's governor calls one of his victims a teacher, a hero. >> even though she was shot she full pulled the fire alarm to save other lives. >> reporter: amy schumer tweeted my heart is broken and all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in louisiana. the mass shooting in lafayette on the same day jurors decided

they will not rule out the death penalty for james holmes the gunman in another movie theater massacre three years ago in aurora colorado. bazi kanani abc news washington. >> abc news the theater. we know it may be over the situation. but what can you tell us? we know the investigation only beginning. what have you been witnessing in the past few hours? >> well as we drove into town there were already signs along many of the businesses. our thoughts, our prayers go with the wounded. shot at this movie theater. it's a somber scene, a very active investigation. you know the suspicious package inside the car turned out to be nothing. the car has been checked and is clear but there are still -- they're still trying to figure out what happened and what the motive was, so while it may be early morning, it's still a very

busy active police investigation. >> gina you talk about what the motive have been but trying to piece together who was this guy. word he was probably not from the area. he's a 58-year-old white guy but still was he a local guy? >> reporter: they're not releasing that information to us. we do know the bomb squad has completed their work. it will take four to six hours for them to process and photograph the scene. the shooter has been i.d.'d but haven't given us his name. a 58-year-old white male with an extensive criminal history is pretty much all they've told us. >> gina sunseri on the scene for us. we appreciate you this morning checking in from the scene for us and, again, a horrific scene lafayette, louisiana played out. watching a comedy. >> some victims have been released from the hospital but at least one critically injured

moviegoer is in surgery overnight. >> others say it was all very quiet at first, no screaming either by the gunman or patrons who quickly headed for the exit. one witness saying he helped the teacher who pulled that fire alarm. >> at that point everything still pretty cool but right outside the exit door everyone says get away from the building get away from the building and that's when things started getting a tad bit cayothaotic and people running and moving. when i made my way around the teacher was coming out and had collapsed. she had been shot in the leg. >> police say the shooter had no relationship to anyone inside the theater and was actually sitting alone. >> be sure to stay with us at abc news. we have live team coverage. a whole lot more of that coming your way on "good morning america." we do want to turn now to those wildfires raging in the west. they're spreading burning in six states in the driest conditions in years.

the inferno in california's napa valley has sent flames shooting 100 feet into the air driven by erratic winds. it's so thick it's 50 miles away. only 15% contained after scorching nearly 11 square miles. some evacuations, however, have now been lifted. and in montana's glacier national park an elite firefighting team is taking command of a stubborn fire that has burned more than six square miles. the fast-moving flames are forcing campers to flee often with just moments notice. prosecutors in suburban houston say the evidence backs them up. the preliminary autopsy of sandra bland shows no sign of a violent struggle or homicide. investigators say she committed suicide in her jail cell and her injuries are consistent with that. a prisoner in an adjacent cell bland was distraught while in jail. her family has ordered its own autopsy. marine david wyatt's funeral today will be the first for the five servicemen killed in the chattanooga, tennessee, shooting last week. the 5-year-old staff sergeant

will be buried with full honors at the chattanooga national cemetery. americans carrying flags lined the route yesterday in atlanta. when the body of marine skip wells was brought from the airport to a funeral home. and republican presidential candidate donald trump threatening party leaders to play fair and treat him with respect or he'll launch a third party run. he brought that same self-confidence to the border town of laredo texas, where he claimed he was -- has a great relationship with hispanic that despite his recent controversial comments branding machine mexican immigrants as criminals. >> i took a lot of heat the first week and the second week everybody realized i was right. >> some border patrol agents were supposed to meet with trump and give him a tour but after consulting with their national labor union, they backed out. well, still ahead, consumer alert. a popular stroller brand issuing a recall. and caught on camera. police officers, firefighters and citizens banding together to

"the new york times" reports that two inspectors general have asked the justice department to open a potential criminal investigation into the possible mishandling of sensitive government information. that's in connection with the

e-mail account clinton used while she was secretary of state. clinton has said her account did not contain classified information. overnight a spokeswoman released a statement saying clinton followed all appropriate practices in dealing with classified information. well, it's been a tough week for stocks losing ground three days in a row. a 119-point loss for the dow yesterday. it moved the index into negative territory for the year. the s&p 500 was off 1 points. investigators selling stocks because of disappointing earning reports. news about jobs renewing concerns about rising interest rates. well, amazon's market value bigger than walmart. the online retailer reported a larger than expected profit sending shares soaring and placing the e-commerce giant ahead of walmart. amazon's market cap is about $250 billion versus $230 billion for walmart. walmart remains the world's largest company by revenue. turn to a consumer alert now.

firing randomly and had no connection to anyone inside the theater. witnesses say it was eerily quiet in the theater until one of the wounded pulled the fire alarm. >> we were buying popcorn at the concession stand when a whole group of people, teenagers mainly, running out telling everybody to run for their life and i just thought it was teenagers playing a prank then i see a whole other bigger group coming out screaming the same thing, and my reaction was -- then we saw a lady with blood all over her leg. i just grabbed my child and i mean we all ran. >> and the woman with the blood on the leg may have been the teacher described as a hero for setting off the fire alarm helping save more lives. police later found the shooter's car and blew out its windows after dog-sniffing dogs tagged three items inside. but no explosives were found. more details when we get them. an act of heroism in dallas captured on camera after a

motorcyclist -- you see the accident happened there -- ran into a car and got trapped beneath the car. several people including police officers and firefighters joined together to lift that car off her. others then pulled her out. she was gasping for air. the woman did not suffer major injuries. in indiana, meanwhile, a terrifying sweet 16 birthday celebration, a limo carrying teenagers got stuck on the tracks just as the train came barreling towards them. a man waved a flag trying to get the conductor's attention but the train couldn't stop. we'll have to let you know here though. everybody got out of that limo in time. a teenager who built a small drone who can fire a gun is now under arrest. video of it went viral online. the 18-year-old engineering student was arrested during what was described as a physical altercation with police officers. well, a lottery winner here in new york has until the end of the day to claim his or her big, big prize.
