>> in monday california there is a potential danger which is lightning which can spark fire. the forest service tweeted lightning has been recorded in mount families 25 of the last 27 days. so far this year, crews have battled 18 fires started by lightning. one is still burning near california's northeast border with oregon. this picture was snapped by a constitute at the university of nevada showing a lightning strike that firefighters believed help fuel the fire yesterday. the man arrested in the murder of a hayward police sergeant is expected to have his first court appearance today as police reveal more of their next step in the investigation. abc7 reporter janet o is at police headquarters with more in hair. >> good morning, chris. the suspect is being held right now at the jail in dublin. at the hair police , a -- at the

hayward police department with a growing tribute in honor of sergeant scott lunger. the suspect, mark estrada has been booked on one count of homicide during the traffic stop. police are investigating a new lead this morning releasing surveillance video of the car showing him near his house in oakland. the car was seen after the shooting. police want to talk to people in the car although they not considered suspects. a community still in deep grief over the tragedy. this was the scene yesterday afternoon. people pay their respects and lined up to watch police escort lunger's body from the coroner to the chapel of chimes in hayward. people continuing on drop off flowers all day and night at the police station. this woman knew lunger from hayward high school and said he was the most respected officer on campus. >> it is because of his

presence, he had this presence and aura and this niceness about him that made everyone feel uplifted and happy. >> lunger will be laid to rest on thursday. it will be a public service held july 30 at 10:00 a.m. his aunts said her nephew was a brave officer and will be remembered that way. she adds that his youngest daughter who is 18 will be traveling from iowa to be home for the emotional se >> thanks, janet. state police in louisiana say the man who killed two people and injured nine others inside a movie theater is from alabama. they just released a photo of 58-year-old john russell houser. investigators say he ises stranged from his wife and family and officers say they found no connection define houser and the city of lafayette, where the shooting happened. he shot himself as police moved in. 20 minutes into the movie "train

that person later died. the other person in the car was arrested. >> a hearing on berkeley's cell phone ordinance has been set. the city council unanimously passed an ordinance in may requiring retameers to notify customers they could exceed federal guide lines for radiation exposure by carrying a cell phone if their pants or shirt pocket. a trade group filed a lawsuit against the city claiming there is no safety concern no matter how the 14 is carried and the norrance violates the first amendment rights. the ordinance will not go into effect until the matter is settled. >> college students who were hung out to dry weapon christian -- when a are asking for permission to file a claim through their lawyers. the three colleges were run by corinthian college that filed for chapter 11 in may the individual students' losses

i am eric thomas. >> i am chris nguyen. here for kristen sze. meteorologist mike nicco is tracking the conditions where you live. mike? >> good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us. i want to focus on the north bay. santa rosa and napa, the fog is on the move at three-quarters of a mile visibility. a late public of marine clouds from the sutro tower and if you are headed out this only, it is cooler up to ten degrees cooler and you may need a heavier coat with total sunshine and maybe a few more clouds at the coat. have the sunglasses. mid-60s to mid-70s. mid-sick at the coast and mid-80s inland. you can see the temperatures are below average. no worries other than chilly after the sunset at 8:25. >> across the dumbarton, this is not something we get to see very often, it is clear. up to the toll plaza traffic is
