convicted. abc 7 news viewers are leaving condolences for her family and loved ones. if you would like to share this remembrance you can do so at facebook.com/abc 7 news. cal fire launched a drone to help in the search for a missing san francisco teacher as authorities made a call today for fresh volunteers to continue the search. the 45 year old was last seen on friday while riding his motorcycle along the rock creek trail area in the el dorado national forest. authorities are looking for experienced hikers, bikers, horseback riders and drone operators to help in the effort. a public display of support, gratitude and grief is happening in hayward during a viewing for fallen sergeant scott lunger. the police chief spoke moments ago. >> the question that a lot of people are asking is how is the hayward police department doing. they are doing. we are staying busy putting

together the most epic honorable celebration of life tomorrow for sergeant scott lunger. >> the almeida sheriff's department and chp will take over duties so police officers can attend the funeral. a look at how the community is showing its support. >> absolutely. this afternoon we have seen a steady stream of supporters, family and friends here for sergeant lunger all attending his viewing. ahead of his funeral tomorrow a family business is doing their part to make sure police officers are ready. before brothers in blue lace up boots to say good bye to him fourth generations are making sure these boots shine. >> all our officers are coming in for this funeral and are all veterans. you can see it in their face. it is sad. >> reporter: sergeant scott lunger was once a customer here. >> he was a staple in the

community with helping everybody out. >> reporter: while he greets officers in mourning his son kenneth and other employees work behind the scenes. >> they put a little more love into it. >> surprising because it was so close. it was a couple of miles away from our store. >> reporter: the news hit hard. >> the officers are friends. >> reporter: the funeral procession will pass by. >> it was pretty powerful especially close to home. >> reporter: with heavy hearts and boots shining. >> it's our foundation. sergeant scott lunger was a big baseball fan. the oakland as twitter account posted this photo of him with his daughter and said we encourage you to attend the memorial service tomorrow at oracle arena. >> if you would like to pay your respects but cannot attend the memorial we invite you to join us for live coverage here at abc 7 news.

you can watch the service on abc7news.com. the east bay procession begins at 8:45. the memorial service is scheduled to start at 10:00. we will also be posting some of the most poiginant moments on our bay area twitter feed and at facebook.com/abc 7 news. a small earthquake struck along the fault near san jose just about an hour ago. usgs said it had an magnitude 3.3 hitting 12 miles southeast of san jose. it was just after 4:00. there are no reports of damage or injuries but we do know that some people did feel it. a move today that could stream line the process to build new stadiums for the as and the raiders. almeida county announced it wants to sell its interests in the coliseum complex to the city of oakland. county representatives raised that issue today during a meeting with city officials, the raiders and the national football league. supervisor says he believes the

city's response to the opportunity was positive. we'll see. we are breaking news out from clear lake. and specifically the town of lower lake. evacuations are underway due to a fast spreading fire that started just over an hour ago. clear lake is just north of santa rosa in between highway 101 and i-5 as we can see on the map. the blaze scorched about 150 acres and it is spreading fast. cal fire dispatched six air tankers and 170 firefighters to fight the flames. the fire broke out in the southern part of clear lake which is just north of the fire burning near lake berryessa. a viewer tells us this is the view from clear lake oaks. you can share your photos just post them on social meade with the hashtag abc 7 now. it is hot in the bay area with triple digit temperatures inland people are finding different ways to beat the heat

today. what better way to cool off than in the water. some families spent this sunny day at almeida beach and the park is closed today. officials say our summer heat is contributing to a high fire danger at the park. here is a live look outside from our camera. definitely feeling like summer time this week. let's go to meteorologist sandhya patel outside with a look at our highs so far and live doppler 7 hd. >> it has been a toasty day. take a look t a temperatures in our inland communities. antioch 108 degrees. up to 104 near where the fire is burning. 107. 103 concord. 104 fairfield. it is cooler along the bay. 70 in san francisco. 89 in san jose. 86 red wood city. santa rosa hot. san rafael 90 and in half moon bay 65 degrees. a 43-degree spread between half moon bay and antioch.

also just fun because both man and beast deserve some relief from the heat. a tragic accident today in contra costa county. police say an elderly woman mistook the gas pedal for the brake and ran over her husband killing him at their home. investigators say 84-year-old yvonne catrel was repositioning the car and hit the gas instead. 89-year-old glen catrel died at the hospital. san jose market is cleaning up broken glass. this is the seventh time someone has broken into the market at north park in the past two months. this time vandalizing a glass refrigerator door. a news viewer sent us this

major news about a possible break in the mysterious disappearance of malaysia airlines flight 370. experts say they have a high degree of confidence that wreckage found washed ashore in the indian ocean belongs to a boeing 777, the same model as that missing airliner. officials say the debris is a two meter long piece of a 777 wing. flight 370 vanished in march of last year with 239 people on board. the debris was found on reunion

island more than 3,000 miles away from where crews searched for the plane. if confirmed it would be the first piece of debris linked to the plane. hundreds of bicyclists plan to obey the lot to show how ubzord they feel the law is. this could cause a traffic nightmare for commuters along the wiggle in the lower neighborhood. carolyn tyler joins us live with more. >> reporter: the protest is expected to get underway around 5:30. i have to say every response that i got on my twitter posting about this was opposed to what thee bicyclists want which is to turn stop signs into yield signs for them. >> i'm going to still roll through stop signs. >> reporter: that is what the fuss is all about. they say they should not have to stop at stop signs if the intersection is clear. >> you can maneuver more easily.

it is very easy for cyclists to treat it as a yield sign. >> reporter: the group will obey the law to protest the law. stopping at each and every stop sign hoping to backup traffic to challenge one police captain's recent crack down. activists say targeting bicyclists is diverting limited resources. >> every moment that he has his officers not focusing on most dangerous violations is resources taken away from saving lives and keeping our streets safe. >> reporter: the police chief doesn't think the officers are out of line. >> i would suggest that we are not overenforcing on bicyclists if only 1% of the tickets are going to bicyclists. >> reporter: supervisor calls the citations over the top. >> it is one thing to break the law to blatantly break the law. it is another thing to yield through a stop sign and roll through a stop sign when there is no one else around. >> reporter: she says she will look into crafting legislation

like the law in idaho that lets cyclists do exactly that. in san francisco, carolyn tyler, abc 7 news. a u.s. citizen had to take the oath of citizenship today in san francisco just to take a vacation out of the country. abc 7 news was at the immigration office as 14-year-old was officially sworn in as a citizen. she was automatically granted citizenship but could not get a u.s. passport. >> we weren't able to get one because i didn't have the original court order from siberia stating that the adoption was granted. >> i wasn't able to travel so i felt trapped because i couldn't go anywhere really. >> senator feinstein's staff helped her get a citizenship certificate. within minutes she and her mom were in line to get that

is outside with the latest. >> we are losing some of the steam. right now behind me i can see the fog coming in and the breeze is picking up. let's take a look at live doppler 7 hd and i will show you what is going on. we are watching that fog just increase along the coast line there and so is the breeze. now down to our south showers, thunderstorms in southern california prompting flood advisories. so far they have seen some reports of flash flooding. six reports to be precise and one report of hail. just in case you are traveling down there that is all due to monsoon moisture. here in the bay area we are watching for the potential for strong rip currents. there is a beach hazard statement until 9:00 p.m. tonight particularly southwest facing beaches will increase the risk of rip currents. from our camyou can see this is what is providing relief to our beaches in the bay. 66 degrees in san francisco.

new measure will help. created a $75,000 reward fund for the arrest and conviction of anyone who flew remote controlled operated aircraft over three recent wild fires. in one fire earlier this month cars burned as tankers remained grounded because hobby drones were in the air in the area. and just yesterday in dublin at least one drone interfered with water drops on this brush fire at the army reserve area. walkers and bikers who venture out to the bay bridge trail. the water is recycled comes from the building new the tol plaza. the building combines six maintenance facilities into one and has sky lights and motion censors to cut down on energy use. a major test for america's
