to fight and within the last five or ten minutes, the wind has actually died down. we have seen this very erratic fire behavior and it's extreme fire behavior because it is so dry. the wind shift and firefighters are really at the mercy of mother nature and so are the residents here of clear lake. we spoke to a couple of people that have been out here watching the ridge line because they live so close. here's what they had to say. >> that's what it looked like kind of. it looked like a mushroom cloud that came from like a nuclear explosion, kind of. >> when we got here the flames had just got up to the peak and it had burned down and we had seen a couple spot fires and those escalated and got pretty big and took out the whole side of the mountain like ten minutes. >> so, as he said it all happened so quickly. and i want to take you back out here live and show you the map that we have. this is the map from cal fire. this is the rocky incident. however, even as these maps are printed, they are probably out of date because this whole area

firefighters tell me has burned today. and there was a structure in there, as well. that may bring our structure loss total up to four buildings. the places evacuated south of the incident and over here west of the incident. we are on dam road, which is about here. now, i tell you, that is about a three-mile distance from the ridge line. one of the concerns we're talking about is the ash and the embers. our equipment, you can see just the amount of ash that was collected on this gray foam and if there's an ember in that, it could really ignite this grass. firefighters say it's 100% assurety that if an ember falls, it will ignite the grass. that's why they're having such a problem with containment because of the dry conditions and because of the drought and everything takes so quickly. there are a lot of communities right now that are on advisory. they are onned a evacuation advisory. and there are mandatory

advisories, as well. there is a long list and cal fire and the sheriff's department are keeping people notified and if you get the word to leave you better do so. we're live near clear lake. >> terrific job. well, conditions are very tricky. weather not helping, really. sandhya patel is tracking details. >> the dry conditions that is not helping the firefighters. the wind has started to drop off. it is now gusting out of the south at 11 miles an hour. relative humidity is slowly coming up. it is 23%. still hot there near the fire line. 95 degrees. so far 18,000 acres you can see the area that is burning. but the next 24 hours the wind gusts are expected to continue to drop off and winds will become quite light towards the morning hours. hopefully that will help those firefighters. live doppler 7 hd tracking monsoonal moisture near mount hamilton.

we've seen a few radar returns. san jose had a trace amount of rain earlier this afternoon. and as you take a look about 148 miles west of san francisco, numerous lightning strikes and thunderstorms have been firing up in the sierra nevada. i'll let you know if we have the possibility of seeing a few more drops as we head towards the weekend when i come back. in the sierra nevada another fire is burning in the another golden trout wilderness. this is the ash the flames have left behind on some cars and some homes. nearly 2,000 acres are burning right now. more than 150 firefighters are fighting those flames. the cause of the wildfire are lightthening and thunderstorms are priblthed for the next few days in that area. rangers are on high alert after more than 100 lightning strikes yesterday sparked at least ten wildfires. more thunderstorms are expected tonight. we have some pictures of two of the small fires burning. the blue fire, that is so far scorched two acres on the upper

women in the home captive this morning. when the women tried to escape investigators say he shot one of them several times. abc 7 news was there when police shut down the roads and asked people to stay indoors whim they searched for the shooter. the man later shot and killed himself in the same house. the woman survived and is in the hospital. take a look at this video posted on youtube. it's raising a lot of questions about what happened to a man in san francisco who was bleeding from his head surrounded by security guards. abc melanie joins us. >> as that pd tells me that the man in the video was not armed. tonight he is not facing shoplifting or trespassing charges. just moments ago, abc 7 news winsed another take down inside bloomingdale's. we want to warn viewers, some of this video may be disturbing. the youtube video shows what appears to be four plained clothed security guards inside

bloomingdale's surrounding a man on the ground bleeding. one employee is intent who shot the video with his cell phone. >> i thought i walked into a gang fight quite frankly. when i realized that these are actually undercover security for bloomingdale's, i pulled out my camera. because it just didn't seem right. >> reporter: accordinging to the san francisco police department the man on the ground was charged twice with shoplifting from bloomingdale's. ans officer asked him to leave when the altercation occurred. >> it just seemed pretty excessive given whatever had happened and given the blood and trauma that i have seen. >> reporter: the man on the ground was not armed. >> was this an excessive use of force? >> it's really hard to determine based on the video because you see what happened after the fact. it doesn't look pretty and it looks really bad to be frank. but, you know, again, we don't know what the use of force was. >> reporter: sfpd says the man was taken to sf general with

nonlife-threatening injuries and he has not filed charges against the officers. bloomingdale's told abc 7 news the department store is cooperating and they declined to comment and did not respond to a request for in-store surveillance video. then a different shopper gave us this video taken today. it shows bloomingdale's security officers on top of another man. it's unclear whether the department store directly employs its security officers or hires them through another company. in san francisco, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. one of three men convicted in the bus killing has been paroled. governor brown could have blocked parole, but did not. him and his brother richard and fred, fred woods was convicted of kidnapping 26 children and their bus driver and hiding them at a livermore quarry until they escaped. woods could be paroled this fall. the closure of b.a.r.t.'s

transbay tube this weekend is expected to have widespread implications but some people looking forward to it. well, sort of. laura anthony joins us with the story. laura? >> hi cheryl. on a normal weekend plenty of traffic from here to san francisco. that will certainly be hampered this weekend. but not everyone we found is upset about it. after all one person's misfortune can be another's game. >> a taxi driver is one of the few people who looked back foundly at the traffic mess draet created by the b.a.r.t. strike and looking forward to this weekend when they close the tube. >> traffic was bad. >> reporter: expecting the same this weekend? >> yes that's right. >> reporter: the tube closure is expected to create headaches for the tens of thousands who normally use it on a weekend day. disruptions that even a planned bus bridge won't fix. >> b.a.r.t. is advising the bus

the conversation that this has all touched off. lyanne. >> zuckerberg said they were quiet about it thinking they did something to cause this. you know, dan the story is not necessarily the fact that the zuckerbergs are having a baby but what they want to convey is that miscarriages are more common than you think. presilla is seen in this picture already displaying a baby bump. in fact the zuckerbergs decided to finally announce it because the pregnancy is now far enough along that the risk of losing the baby is very low. the 30-year-old had suffered three miscarriages during their three-year marriage. zuckerberg wrote on his facebook page his wife's miscarriages were a lonely experience. they wouldn't talk about it with friends. he now says this is a great opportunity to begin a dialogue. in today's open and connected world, discussing these issues

anti-trust case. the former ucla basketball player sued the ncaa said he was never compensated for his image of appearing in a video game. the injunction would have taken effect tomorrow. uber is now one of the most valuable companies in the united states. the "wall street journal" reports that the san francisco-based company is now valued at close to $51 billion. following a new round of funding. the total equals the record set by facebook for a private venture-backed start up. uber's rise to that $50 billion valuation effects its global expansion into more than 300 cities and growing popularity carrying millions of riders every day. a bay area environmental group is reaching out to fishermen to prevent burn deaths. they especially want to avoid this. birds getting tangled in fishing line. nearly half the pelican deaths at the international bird rescue center are caused by fishing

line strangulation. that's why the golden gate society has begun putting special plastic resipticals at popular fishing spots. fishermen can dispose of their fishing line. >> fishermen are often kind of careless with excess line and kind of tug it out of the water when they're done with it and wrap it around something and leave it out in the environment. and it's a really serious hazard. >> so far ten receptacles have been placed in fishing spots in oakland, and san leandro. the fishing line will get recycled and made into artificial reefs. bay area experts rehabilitated that found its way into oakland from lake tahoe. found him behind a pot in the oakland hills. this little guy taken to the wildlife museum. he was dehydrated with worn pads on its feet and thin fur. veterinarians say it hitched a ride on the underside of a car perhaps. that's how it got all the way to the bay area.

well, do not forget to look up tonight. you're going to see a blue moon. the phenomenon occurs when two full moons appear in the same calendar month. happens every few years. the moon will look very much like this tonight. it's really stunning. take advantage of it because the next blue moon will not be until 2018. some folks who want to see that blue moon, are going to have the kind of weather that will allow for that? >> you know who will answer that question. sandhya patel has the answer for that. >> tonight a bit dicy. not only low clouds but behind me watching the other clouds come in and adding humidity in some parts of the bay area. let me show you live doppler 7 hd right now. we'll take a look at what's going on now and what happened several hours ago. so, those clouds are showing up on live doppler 7 hd. and we also had a few light showers down in the south bay. this was earlier this afternoon. those light showers didn't amount to a whole lot. san jose reported a trace. the dew points yeah when

they're between 60 and 69 degrees, it is humid. palo alto mid-60s and half moon bay a 60 degree dew point. if it feels sticky to you, there is a reason for it. temperatures are down compared to 24 hours ago. 2 to 11 degrees cooler compared to half moon bay. just absolutely gorgeous from our south beach camera. this will make for a lovely sunset tonight, if you get a chance to see it and there aren't enough. there aren't too many low clouds. 63 in san francisco and 70 in oakland and 76 san jose. currently 67 in half moon bay. a lovely view from lake tahoe cam, as well. you can see the monsoonal moisture. if you're going up this weekend, scattered storms and thunderstorms. 71 in santa rosa right now. napa 76 and low 80s from fairfield to livermore. high so far today in the low 60s along the coastline in places like pacifica all the way to up thor 80s in antioch. san jose camera showing sunshine

and mild to warm tomorrow. and a cooler pattern is setting up for sunday through tuesday. satellite radar showing you what is going on. we've been watching pockets of moisture as some of that subtropical moisture continues to stream in. but most of it has missed the bay area. it's been off shore over the pacific ocean or some right around the northern california mountains and the sierra nevada. as we head towards overnight tonight, we'll see the low clouds around. we'll also continue to see those high clouds and then by tomorrow evening, back to normal as most of the high cloudiness pushes out of here taking the humidity with it. now, i do want to show you very quickly. a storm that has intensified. it's now a hurricane. hurricane guillermo in the pacific. gusts to 125 miles an hour. it is expected to continue across the pacific weakening by the middle of next week near a tropical storm and coming near hawaii. if you have travel plans, you want to monitor this storm. tomorrow morning upper 50s to low 60s and starting out a bit
