undercover. took money from them. his staff took money from them. he was supposedly knowledgeable about what the money was for and he attempted to pay up on the bribe. >> the mayor's office responded saying there's absolutely nothing in today's filing by raymond chow's attorney that suggests mayor lay himself or his 2011 campaign did anything wrong or inappropriate. we asked former mayor willie brown for a response but he did not return our call. supervisor breed and mccullen were also accused in those court filings. breed called the allegations baseless. the u.s. attorney's office has not commented. carolyn tyler, abc 7 news. hayward police are investigateing the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy while

walking with a female friend this morning. it happened about 1:00 a.m. three males confronted the coup elg. one of them shot the recent mt. eden high school graduate who died a short time later. the teenage girl he was with was not hurt. the suspects were last seen drive away in a silver suv. they are investigating a heated exchange involving a police officer. a man claims the officer drove up and pulled a gun on him. vic lee has the story. >> reporter: the officer drives up to don's home as he's loading up his boat. he pulls out his phone and begins recording. the officer then begins shooting from his phone. the officer gets out of his car and this exchange takes place.

>> keep your hand out of your pocket. >> no sir, i've done nothing. >> put your gone down. >> the officer tells him to get his hand out of his pocket. he puts items from his pocket on his car. >> no. >> you don't touch me. he keeps asking the cop why he's at his home. >> are you spguspecting me of a crime? >> then he blurts out the police are corrupt and then this. >> you guys have done enough to my family. >> are you some kind of a constitutionalist? >> no. >> finally the cop leaves saying have a nice day. put it on youtube. the city manager says they'll be conducting an investigation. >> we're going to look at our protocol and ensure the safety

of our community and officers. vic lee, abc 7 news. toernths more than 3,000 firefighters are fitding that massive blaze. 65,000 acres are burning and it's only 12% contained. the middletown school district is delaying the opening of school because some schools are being used as evacuation centers. >> the president asked his team to stay in close touch with governors and local officials as their efforts continue. and the white house will continue to monitor the situation from here. these are selfless individuals and we owe them a debt of gratitude. >> wayne freedman is live with an update. >> reporter: you mentioned the 65,000 acres that burned. this is behind highway 20 that burned just yesterday when the highway jumped the ridge.

all of this burned in an afternoon. some of it is still burning. this is one little spot they didn't get to. this has been a fire that mostly laid low today. 12% containment. they are hoping to improve on that. this is not what the books say a fire at 12% containment should look like. a gray day puff of smoke a couple of helicopters dumping in the distance and stil only 12%. has the rocky fire ever been what they expected? relief still no on so many levels. that's dave brookens with his wife worrying about their house. they are 2 of 11 people who spent the night at middletown high school and they are not alone in their concerns. >> what do you kind of know? >> it's still standing. thank god. >> the fire is close? >> the fire is close.

>> most of the news arrives second hand. when a building does burn down, maybe not even cal fire knows what it was or who owned it. it's taken four fires so far. >> was it a home? an outbuilding? whether it was a barn. there's a process done by our damage assessment teams. they'll identify who is belongs to, what's it was and then an attempt to identify the person and make notification. >> hopefully it will not touch here. in the fire zone this afternoon maybe a sign. one of seasonal raindrop. then two. then too many to count. can they make a difference? maybe a miracle? wayne freedman, abc 7 news. the size of this fire is so hard to conceptualize. we mentioned it's at 65,000 acres. that's 101 square miles just

enormous. and it's been growing every day since it started, often extremely rapidly. maybe this will give you a better idea. 101 square miles is about the cities of oakland and alameda combined. if a fire that huge were burning in the east bay, this is what we might be dealing inging with. more than 10,000 firefighters are battling drought-driven wildfires throughout the state. a woman has set intentionally 14 fires that could have been devastating. they arrested the 34-year-old tracy webb yesterday after they connected her to more than a dozen fires. they were sparked along highway 299 and the old oregon trail in the last week. there were some light showers very welcome during this

drought. meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking the rain. >> you may have been going, what's this falling from the sky today? a few light showers at sfo mountain view. even some reports of sprinkles earlier today on social media from castro valley to dublin and hayward in pleasanton. we're seeing light returns from petaluma to sonoma. keep in mund not all this is reaching the ground. as i take you back several hours you'll notice what did move through. we had light showers and sprinkles in some parts of the bay area but only trace amounts at sfo and mountain view. i'll let you know if there is the possibility of more showers in our future. two san mateo county deputies are credited with

saving a man. sergio quintana talks with the deputy. >> reporter: the two deputies saw as the driver crashed into a raulroad crossing arm and their first concern was that the car might cause a trail di railment. the driver wasn't getting out and then they leapt into action. this is video of the dramatic rescue. they pulled 20-year-old gomez just moments before the cal train slams into his car. >> the train was coming. after he wasn't responding i knew i had to take control of the situation and physically remove him from the situation. his partner also leapt into action. he tried to signal the train engineer.

>> the engineers are keen to their environment. if they see someone on the raul railroad, they'll come to a stop. >> he had just been involved in a hit and run crash. 20-year-old nelson gomez kept driving until he skidded into the railroad crossing arm about a block away where the two deputies first saw he was in trouble. gomez seemed injured from the original crash and wasn't moving very fast after he got out of the car. >> the train was coming in. the car was still going to possibly strike us or debris from the car could strike us. i dragged the driver a few feet farther. >> gomez was taken to the hospital where they later cited and arrested him on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence. the train engineer was able to begin braking but it takes

of problems in china. video captured this huge landslide. watch as the cliff comes crashing down sending tons of rock and doirtirt on to the road below. it took crews nearly a day to clear it and reopen the road for traffic. and this rushing water in north china. this one forced at least three parked vehicles into the nearby river. chinese officials say this is the heaviest rain storm the country has experienced in dozens of years. a confrontation between two drivers and bicyclists occurred yesterday. the area and popular with bikers. it's very scenic. the two cyclists were riding when one of them pulled into the other lane. mike rafferty tried to pass his car and hit the brakes to avoid hitting the cyclist. rafferty then rammed the
