a jersey honoring sergeant lunger hung in the dugout. >> reporter: what a great day. this was law enforcement day at the a's game, and scott lunger's family was truly honored and humbled by at the outpouring of love and support for their fallen hero. >> the biggest honor of father could have, paul lunger, throwing out the first pitch of sunday's a's game to his son scott's favorite player, rickey henderson. [applause] >> a wonderful experience. i was nervous, and i'm sure my son, scott, is jealous of me being up on the mound. i felt scott was in between us when i was hugging him.

fallingen employing sergeant scott lunger was honored at the game. an on-field police motorcade, tribute to man who was a long-time a's mega fan. before the game the team members presented the family with jerseys with the lunger name. >> the a's got us here where we want to be, make us feel really good, and scott us with us. >> sergeant lunger's daughters were there, too. lunger was killed in a loon of duty in a routine traffic stop. lunger's girlfriend, antioch police dispatcher, jennifer lee, was proud to see scott honored by so many. >> it was amazing. so many people, friends, family, from all over the bay area, and it's honorable to see everybody out there. >> want to thank everybody that supported us, and just made us feel like part of a larger community. >> reporter: a son, father, hero, and baseball fan, who will never be forgotten.

♪ >> reporter: in oakland, abc7 news. >> a new fire prompted evacuations in lower lake in lake county. the jerusalem fire broke out this afternoon and has burned 100 acres. evacuations have been ordered. this not near the rocky fire. we'll continue to follow the story on air and online. get breaking news alerts at abc7 news bay area. the rocky fire has burned nearly 70,000 acres and is now 70% contained. the fire has destroyed 43 homes and 53 outbuildings, all evacuations were lifted on saturday. a second firefighter has died fighting wildfires in california. it happened yesterday at the sierra fire between lake tahoe and the el dorado national forest. a tree fell on the firefighter. his name has not been released. a second firefighter was also injured. he was treated and released from

a nearby hospital. a day for the fire-fighting community. >> take a minute to -- more than a minute to look at the situation, let us all grieve, and then learn and move forward. we're not ready to move forward at this moment. we're still very much grandfathering, -- grieving and sad for ourselves and sad for the family. >> more than 10,000 firefighters are fighting 18 wildfires across the state. here's a part of firefighting we rare by get to seeening nears with the california national guard putting up a temporary bridge so firefighters can drive their vehicles and equipment across to get to hard to access areas. the bridge helps them get to the fire faster. before they had to drive hours through the mountains. 30 guardsmen worked all afternoon and evening, friday to get the bridge up in less than 12 hours. >> more problems today at outside lanes in san francisco's doing park. the music festival wraps up in a few hours. sergio quintana is there live.

>> reporter: the problem this afternoon is there are a lot of people trying to get into the music festival by scaling the fences. it's not yet clear exactly how many people have been able to successfully do that but we do know that at least one police officer was injured this afternoon, trying to catch one of the fence-jumpers. this is what it looked like yesterday when a large group tried to scale the fence. it's the same situation today. especially with huge headliners like sam smith, and elton john later on this evening. inside golden gate park it's a much more controlled situation. this three-day music and art festival has drawn people from around the country, fans tell us they're enjoying a number of the events offered. >> detox is call, i heard. the food is awesome. it's pricey but worth it. >> i worked on friday so we have three-day pass. but i just like music and hanging out with friends. >> reporter: that digital detox

of weeks the german sheperd disappeared last new england from his owner's yard in san jose. our media partners at the san jose merck re news report the opener went to sleep and woke up to find the dog had dug a 0 hole hole under the fence and got out. >> numerous agencies were sent the information. people were out there. we got calls from people on the lookout. >> niko is okay, maybe just a little tired and hungry. guadalupe river in downtown san jose has gone dry. this photo shows a cracked, gray riverbed and no water in sight. just two years ago a colony of beavers was discovered along the river for the first time in 150 years. fish and wildlife are drying off. we'll jeck in with meteorologist drew tuma with a look at current conditions we need to fill up the reservoirs.

>> not surprising to see at the that image on the fourth year of the drought. we want to give you an update in terms of rainfall up ins, and san jose, 90% our yearly rainfall, coming in just over 13-inches of rain, santa rosa, 68% of normal. oakland airport, 70% of normal. rainfall so far this year, 14.39 inches of rain. now, august is certainly not known for its rainfall but any means. over the entire month, you can see the entire bay area picks up less than a tenth inch of rain. .07-inches in san jose, livermore, .04 inches the buyer month. keeping with the trend in the accuweather forecast we're tracking cooler numbers. details in a few. still ahead at 6:00, remembering a football and broadcast legend. >> frankly, we have been waiting for this game for a long time. we are ready to go.

>> pro football hall of famer frank gifford died at the age of 84. be passed away of natural causes this morning at his connecticut home. he was named to pro bowl in three different positions, was the most valuable player. in 1971 he started working for abc's monday night football as a play-by-play analyzer and then analyst. he was married to kathie lee gifford. she tweeted, we're stead fast in our faith and finding comfort in knowing where frank is. >> the cambrian park little league team may be out but not out. >> the pitch on the outside part of the plate. >> he had to swing. >> missed and the game is over. >> the bay area team lost to chandler, arizona, 1 or in the first west regional tournament game in san bernardino.

the first woman to swim from the farallones to san francisco spent the night in the hospital after her feat. kim chambers completed her 30-mile, 17-hour journey through shark-infest ed water yesterday. she was taken to the e.r. for dehydration and received four i.v. bags and is now resting at home. she was the first woman to complete the swim. a lot of recommendations to swim in the south bay today. i know it was hot there. just don't swim with the sharks. >> would you you dip your toe in 50-degree water. >> my toe, sure,. >> our ocean temperatures are

running above normal but chilly, low 60s. live doppler 7hd painting a quiet picture. we'll take you outside earlier. this is a time lapse from the emeryville camera. you can see the coastal clouds hanging tight, keeping temperatures in the 60s. elsewhere, soaked in sunshine, and temperatures responded to this afternoon. a warmer finish to the weekend elm 24-hour temperature change shows eight warmer in napa, two degrees warmer in san jose. temperature-wise, it's 84 in concord. a comfortable 68 in oakland. san francisco, 63. wind our big factor in the forecast. they're busy out of the west, gusting to 28 miles-per-hour. 23 in napa, and come tomorrow these winds are going to turn more northerly and that's going to usher in cooler temperatures. d. -- live doppler 7hd showing

you coastal clouds and the big picture is this thin line of cloud cover. that a cold front stalling over the bay area for much of next week and bring us the cooler temperatures. so take san jose, the week ahead, average high, 82. we'll stay below that at least through thursday. once the cold front it out of here by friday and next yankee winds -- next weekend, temperatures warm up to the 80s and 90s. overnight, mid-fives in in the north bay. sicks in around the immediate bay, like san francisco, oakland, richmond, san jose. but highs for your monday, going to be a nice monday. we'll see early morning clouds, afternoon sunshine, you'll notice it's going to feel cooler tomorrow than it did today. 68 the high in san francisco, 70 in oakland, 77 san jose, 86, antioch, a quick update on what is hurricane helga. it winds at 110 miles-per-hour.
