with live breaking news. wasted water in the middle of a drought flowing like a river in a contra costa neighborhood. thank you for joining us. the water main break was reported just before 7:00 a.m. in alamo near hem the crews have now capped it but the damage is done. >> reporter: and disappointed to see so much water wasted during a drought. three hours it flowed here off

danville boulevard. now there is a big mess to clean up. the east bay is looking to repair it but until then no water for about 50 customers in the morning. a ten-inch cap pipe iron broke. water gushed out three hours before work crews could stop it. the water went all the way down to the actual creek that runs behind the homes. one home, one bath severely damaged. a foot of water washed into the living room. the people who live there have a pet pig named jack. he had to hop up on the couch to escape the water. he is okay. neighborhoods said there was so much water. >> there was a big amount of water. so we're thinking that it was the rain. but we're looking out there, it is coming out. >> reporter: i used to look at the area from sky 7 hd.

they hope to have the area repaired. the water is out on danville boulevard from hem avenue. traffic is also an issue here on danville boulevard. matt kellar, abc 7 news. thank you, the water main break was the second one in contra costa. this is a tough sight to see in the bay area especially because of the garage. at least one garage has been flooded, more than two dozen people are without water right now. this is a wild morning for search teams. a woman either jumped or fell from the bay bridge. the search has been called off after six hours. live with detail, janet? >> reporter: good morning, cheryl, well, i should say good afternoon. well, the search was pretty big and at one point chp officers were here at the plaza, looking

for this woman. the woman still has not been found but they recovered her id in the water that led them to an east bay address. chp confirms she was driving a stolen car out of los angeles. around 2:30 a.m., the coast guard started its frantic search. the goal, to find the woman alive in the cold water. >> it is cold enough to cause hypothermia. >> reporter: the helicopters searched by air and both crews searched around the bay. other agencies deployed both looking for any signs of life along the water front. >> these challenges when you're doing a search is dealing with the elements. so of course, it was nighttime. also you have to account for the tide and -- the water -- the way the water drifts. >> reporter: making it hard to spot someone in the san francisco bay. the rescue mission was called off after six hours. meanwhile, chp is investigating

what led to the single car crash on the eastern span of the bay bridge this morning. there were three people in that car and when officers tried to talk to them near the crash site that is when they say the woman went plunging 70 feet below. >> we believe that the driver -- jumped over the rail. and was holding from the railing. and then the officer was about 50 yards away. she began to slip and fall. >> reporter: two passengers who were in the car crash were detained and questioned by chp but they were later released because officers say they did not have enough evidence to charge them in this case, in the stolen car case. now, there was another witness report saying that they actually saw a woman who got out of the water and hitched a ride in a dump truck. chp is following along with that report. abc 7 news. janet, thank you, family and

friends will hold a rally and vigil in downtown oakland. on july 15th, officials say mario martinez suffered an asthma attack. they did not call for emergency medical support. martinez died that day. his death is triggering a call for justice. the rally began near lakeside drive. and santa clara is moving ahead to replace the main jail, built in the '50s and has leaking pipes and mold. the supervisors want to tear it down and build one at the cost of $42 million. the state county funds would pay for about a third of that cost. seven people injured this morning in a u.s. army helicopter crash in japan. officials say it happened on the ship off okinawa. no word on what caused the hard

landing or the extent of their injuries. the officials say the crew was conducting a local training mission. the crash prompted the government to demand steps to stop another crash. the alameda based coast guard stratton has just returned after 14 days at sea and two massive cocaine seizures. abc 7 was overhead where the agents confiscated more than 22,000 pounds of cocaine in two separate busts in the past two months. it is estimated all that cocaine is worth more than a billion dollars. >> we had all the cocaine here on the flight deck and pretty much filled the flight deck. we had 37 cases pretty much. when they removed it they filled up several truck loads to take it off the street. and families and loved ones gathered to greet them at the port just a while ago. some of that one billion dollar stash of cocaine being offloaded

earlier this month in san diego. mandatory evacuations in place for dozens living in lake county as an out of control wildfire continues to grow. hd was above the fire in lake county. the fire has now burned 16,500 acres and is just 6% contained. at least 50 structures are threatened. the fire appears to be crossing east into napa county now. firefighters say more homes will be in danger if it shifts west. the san francisco police department's crackdown on cyclists is over for people who don't make complete stops at stop signs. they conceded to bike riders demands last night and promised to come up with a better solution to increase traffic safety. cyclists criticized them for not ticketing dangerous drivers.

backup on interstate 80 before 10 a.m., that is why, the dog was running all over the street, cars had to come to a stop as the dogs ran across the street on davis street. animal control tried to stop the dog, they were not able to catch it. the dog eventually ran into the nearby neighborhood and we hope it's okay. and now more trouble for secretary of state hillary clinton. the democratic candidate is turning over the private e-mail she used while she was in the obama cabinet while she was in the job. two of the e-mails are deemed top secret. a thumb drive was turned in last week. clinton says it is the only device that holds copies of her e-mail. still, the attacks are rolling in. >> i fully complied. >> the e-mail situation with hillary clinton is a big, big problem. >> gop frontrunner donald trump

has accused clinton of breaking the law with her use of private e-mail. but she maintains nothing was classified on her e-mail at the time she saw it. and planning to bring middle income jobs to his city, we were joined by representatives from pg&e and bloom city to announce an initiative that deploys partnerships to manufacturers who expands operations. manufacturing accounts for 17% of san jose's job base. the city already committed $17,000 for fee favors and accelerated permit approvals to get the new businesses there. a warning issued in pacifica after a coyote charged at a man and his dog happening yesterday morning at the lands end apartments. a man was on the walk with his dog when the coyote just emerged from the bushes and charged at them. california fish and wildlife said there was a concern, but there is nothing they can do

and students going back to school without a place to call home. you can see the building blocks firsthand on abc 7 at 5:00. and seeing an enormous shark off the coast. the creature was first spotted a couple of months ago, now researchers are showing the shark swimming next to a steel cage as several divers look on. divers named the shark, deep blue, and sea it is 20 feet long, 50 years old. researchers say this could be the largest great white shark ever seen. >> wow, pretty impressive. >> we need a bigger cage. >> or stronger cage. my goodness. a little breaking news out of china. i understand there has been a sort of explosion. you're looking at video we're finding on chinese news sources. people saying that you can feel the shaking from six miles away. a big cloud seen own beijing. many new sources, time,
