encounter with another murder suspect. >> a murder suspect's life came to an enin south san jose. a police officer shot and killed him just before 7:00 last night as neighbors were settling in for the evening. >> this is the times we live in. it happens everywhere. in a way we were not surprised with everything that is going on around the area. >> police were tailing one of three suspects wanted for the august 13 murder at an office building on lundy avenue. a female was in the suspect's vehicle. officers were tipped off he was going to kill her because she had information on the homicide. the suspect realized he was being followed and tried to evade officers, crashing the car. >> i heard sirens. then the car skidding can five or six gunshots. >> the suspect reached into the waist. no gun was found the he died a the sketch. the suspect and two others are wanted for killing a

38-year-old, a crime caught on camera last week the. >> i watched part of a video that shows horrific encounter where three suspects are terrorizing the victim that they killed. >> the video shows the three murder suspects armed with a handgun, assault rifle and another unidentified weapon. last night, the shooting was less than 24 hours after an officer shot and killed another suspect in the lundy avenue murder indicate. that happened at a center road strip mall. two murder suspects dead, the third still loose. >> go through an attorney, go through a friend, a relative, through the media. surrender. >> the female and the murder suspect's vehicle was taken pack here to san jose police headquarters. there is no word if she was injured. >> we have break news in san francisco, a gas leak at 15th is prompting evacuations right

now reported around 9:30 this morning. our reporter is at the scene. >> you can see the peg crews trying to address this leak. the good thing is that there have been no injuries. not sure how this leak started. we will see what they are doing right now. they are crews trying to address the leak. i can tell you that residents say they started to smell something funny out hire between 8:00 and 8:30 this morning. i don't smell smith but as a precaution, firefighters have closed 15th street between here and fury street and police officers and firefighters and the pg&e crews are behind me. yesterday we had a second leak near 10th in the same area caused by crews pouring hot

asphalt on the street which ruptured a line. we are waiting for a spokesman to tell us how it started and what caused it. we will give you more information. they are telling everythingor everyone to -- telling everyone to avoid the area. that is what i would do. we are in richmond district of san francisco. >> thank you. this afternoon the san francisco police department will discuss a double homicide that occurred in the bay view district in january. one of the victims was 32-year-old sosa shot to death while watching her children lay in front of her home. she was running to protect her children from gunshots in a drive-by shooting. her father will address the media hoping to track down the killers. a 38-year-old man died, as well. >> santa clara county e.m.s. is introducing a new safety campaign. "pull to the right for sirens

and lights." the county will put banners on the buses and make a public service announcement. county officials say allowing emergency vehicles and help save lives. >> school districts, police and cities are partnering to ensure traffic and pedestrian safety around campuses. our reporter is in hayward. alameda county is starting today to get out the message. >> they want to tell much to slow down. this can be a madhouse at pickup time. this school was built for 200 students and it now holds 700 kids. you can imagine how dangerous it can get in here with all of the parents trying to get in and out. today, officials from school districts and law enforcement armies say they teaming up to tackle in issue. the big message here is, slow down. that is for people patting through and for parents who are dropping off. the c.h.p. officer who is at the press conference pointed out children are more often hurt or

killed during the loading and unloading of a school bus than on the bus. there is the danger of crossing the field with busy drivers trying to get through the area. a woman share add story of her son and friends getting hit. >> went to cross the street in the crosswalk. three lanes were stopped. the 4th did not. she never even saw the boys. even though my son didn'ted the front of her car and took the side mirror off. the boys were lucky. my son only badly sprained his ankle. the friend only broke a leg and the driver stopped. we all got lucky. why are we leaving this up to luck? >> our message is, slow down. in san francisco, they are cracking down, too. they have identified ten schools with traffic issues and we will have officers rotating away the

schools. all of this week that will occur. in alameda county, school starts next week. all the schools will have the beeners say "don't rush safety," part of the education to get the million out. there is a video, as well to send to parents. more law enforcement will be at schools more than previous years to enforce the traffic laws to prevent any kind of disaster from happening. >> thank you, the el cerrito city council talk about raising the minimum wage to $15. it wants to draft a policy to use as a county-wide model for minimum wage laws. the mayor said it makes sense for business owners operating in multiple cities. for a policy to be enacted county-wide the city has to approve the plan along with the county board of supervisors and will hold community meetings this month and next to get the public's thought. >> san jose police officers have approve add new wage agreement and will replace their pension

agreement. the deal includes 8 percent ongoing races and a percent one listen time bonuses. the police and fire unions have been fighting over benefits where the city for three years. the city council is expected to sign off on the deal next week. >> later today, contra costa county supervises will vote on grant to, expand the jail hoping to security $80 million grant for high security wing at the west county detention facility in richmond. the front end is to reduce the population at martinez jail by transferring more than 400 inmates. critics question if the county can come up with $4 million in annual operating costs. >> developing news in las vegas, two propane tanks slowedded near the strip sending a man to the hospital with burns. it happened after 9:00 this morning outside a hot air balloon business. two trailers were engulfed in flames. two tanks exploded. the fire was quickly put at. no cuss attorneys or passengers

mid-to-upper 70s. everyone else in the mid-to-upper 60, 65 in san francisco with the breezes. the temperatures inland had the biggest drop, 15 degrees cooler in santa rosa and 60 at pearland and 13 in antioch but warm in some areas. you may need the air conditioning in some. in the golden gate bridge you can see the cloud cover, three degrees cooler in san francisco and antioch and redwood city from 10 to 12 degrees cooler. the areas in some of your neighborhoods, 84 in san jose and santa clara and nearly 90 in morgan hill and gilroy andup in sunnyvale. mid-to-upper 70s in san mateo and mid-to-upper 60s loop the coast into downtown and 69 in san francisco. we will have 81 in petaluma, top out at 86 in santa rosa and up to cloverdale, lake port, clear lake, you push 100 there and 70 at richmond, 73 in oakland, and
