what you're l what you're looking at is wreckage from a mid-air collision in western slovakia. two planes carrying dozens of skydivers to an air show that crashed in a heavily wooded mountain area. seven people died and 31 survived. some survived by deploying parachutes and jumping to safety. investigators want to know if one or both of the planes were overloaded. a gas explosion during a construction at a new york city high school has seriously injured three workers. firefighters were still searching the rubble late last night looking for clues.

the fifth and sixth floors of the school were the most seriously damaged. construction crews were working on a gas line in a science lab when the explosion happened. in los angeles, investigators say they'll recommend to prosecutes that they file manslaughter charges against caitlyn jenner for her involvement in a deadly chain reaction crash last year. >> as kabc's carlos grande explains, a conviction could mean jail time for the former olympian. >> reporter: caitlyn jenner could face a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge for the accident that left one dead. investigators will present evidence next week to the d.a. dana cole is an attorney not affiliated with the case. >> typically the d.a. will follow the recommendation of the sheriff's department. but they're an independent agency and they get to review it and make an independent decision. >> reporter: back on february 7th, caitlyn jenner, who at the time was bruce jenner, was driving a cadillac escalade on the pch in malibu.

she rear ended a vehicle driven by kim howe. the vehicle was pushed into oncoming traffic and collided with a hummer. howie died at the scene. the investigation concluded that jenner was traveling at an unsafe speed for the prevailing roadway conditions. >> in this case, the negligence is speeding. it would be a felony if the speeding was excessive but in this case it wasn't. >> detectives are also asking for a misdemeanor charge against a third driver, jessica steindorf for driving a vehicle with a suspended license. the adult stepchildren of howie are suing jenner in court claiming he was careless and negligent. >> definitely, if a case gets filed against caitlyn, that can assist the victim family in their civil case. >> reporter: their representatives told us that neither the attorneys or the family are not releasing any statement at this time. jenner's publicist also had no comment. if she's charged and convicted, jenner could spend a year in county jail. reporting from downtown los

boss, eti. it's his concept, really. the hot dogs are a much more health friendly hot dog for people who want to enjoy hot dogs but are more health conscious. >> what should we start with? >> start with the classic. we're going to use brioche bun to start with the boat because these have a lot of toppings on them. and they tend to be hard to lift once it's assembled. we start with the sauerkraut. >> you're very liberal with the toppings. >> i'm liberal with the toppings. you can have too much. the thing is the beef is what we feature. we don't want to disguise the flavor of the beef because that's the best part of the hot dog. this is our red onion marmalade, like i said, it's a takeoff on what you get on the street on a hot dog cart. top it off with the dog here. smash it down. >> smash it down. you have to do the smash because otherwise it will fall off. this is the classic. and this is mustard. >> mustard on the top.

accuweather's justin povick is following it all. >> thanks and good morning to you on this friday. continuing into the start of the weekend, we're concerned about drenching downpours into the interstate 95 corridor. more specifically new york city to hartford to boston where there could be flash flooding. but to the west, we're in good shape with lots of sunshine and low humidity. that's bad news in the northwest. we need the rain. unfortunately, here, we're concerned about more extreme fire danger. phillip and reena, back to you. 18 soldiers are recovering after being struck by lightning during a training exercise at ft. bragg. the strike hit the ground about 20 feet away from where the soldiers from the 82nd airborne were standing wednesday night. eight of the victims were treated and released, the other ten went to the hospital. a dramatic rescue on lake michigan. the surf so rough that two teenagers got caught up in the strong rip currents near muskegon. a surfer pulled the 13 and 14-year-old girls from the water with the help of public safety
