what you're l what you're looking at is wreckage from a mid-air collision in western slovakia. two planes carrying dozens of skydivers to an air show that crashed in a heavily wooded mountain area. seven people died and 31 survived. some survived by deploying parachutes and jumping to safety. investigators want to know if one or both of the planes were overloaded. a gas explosion during a construction at a new york city high school has seriously injured three workers. firefighters were still searching the rubble late last night looking for clues.

the firefighters are running. you see the flames are coming. they're saying there's a propane tank. we're going to move on. suddenly, amidst the flames, a huge load of flame retardant rained down, right on top of us. the flames are still going, and these firefighters, they get dumped on like us, they take it in stride and they're moving on. david? neal karlinksky, twisp washington. a gas explosion at a new york city high school injured three workers. it happened last night in the bronx at john f. kennedy high school. a police spokesman says crews were working on the gas line when the blast happened. the building had major structural damage with classes starting just weeks from now. investigators in los angeles want prosecutors to file vehicular manslaughter charges against kaitlyn jenner they've determined that jenner in was driving too fast causing a deadly chain reaction crash. the former olympian rear ended two cars and forced one into oncoming traffic killing one of the drivers in february.

accuweather's justin povick is following it all. >> thanks and good morning to you on this friday. continuing into the start of the weekend, we're concerned about drenching downpours into the interstate 95 corridor. more specifically new york city to hartford to boston where there could be flash flooding. but to the west, we're in good shape with lots of sunshine and low humidity. that's bad news in the northwest. we need the rain. unfortunately, here, we're concerned about more extreme fire danger. phillip and reena, back to you. 18 soldiers are recovering after being struck by lightning during a training exercise at ft. bragg. the strike hit the ground about 20 feet away from where the soldiers from the 82nd airborne were standing wednesday night. eight of the victims were treated and released, the other ten went to the hospital. a dramatic rescue on lake michigan. the surf so rough that two teenagers got caught up in the strong rip currents near muskegon. a surfer pulled the 13 and 14-year-old girls from the water with the help of public safety

officers. one teen wasn't breathing but is now in stable condition. the waves were as high as 7 feet and red flags were posted indicating dangerous swimming conditions. well, more bad news for cheating spouses. another data dump by hackers who breached the ashley madison website. information on each user is said to be quite extensive, including their name, age, and sexual fantasies. the pentagon now investigating reports that thousands of messages were sent from the military e-mail addresses. extramarital affairs are against military law. new details emerging about former subway spokesperson, jared fogle. we're now hearing from a florida woman who blew the whistle on the popular pitchman saying he talked about sex with minors in gross detail. here's mar from abc's mara schiavocampo. >> reporter: former subway spokesman jared fogle hasn't commented on accusations of being a child predator. >> jared, anything you want to say? >> reporter: but one whistleblower is speaking out. >> i was shocked. i was stunned.

what you're looking at is wreckage from a mid-air collision in western slovakia. two planes carrying dozens of skydivers to an air show that crashed in a heavily wooded mountain area. seven people died and 31 survived. some of them survived by deploying their parachutes and jumping to safety. investigators want to know if one or both of the planes were overloaded. a gas explosion during a construction at a new york city high school has seriously injured three workers. firefighters were still searching the rubble late last

she rear ended a vehicle driven by kim howe. the vehicle was pushed into oncoming traffic and collided with a hummer. howie died at the scene. the sheriff's department investigation concluded that jenner was traveling at an unsafe speed for the prevailing roadway conditions. >> in this case, the negligence is speeding. it would be a felony if the speeding was excessive but in this case it really wasn't. >> reporter: detectives are also asking for a misdemeanor charge against a third driver, jessica steindorf for driving a vehicle with a suspended license. the adult stepchildren of howie are suing jenner in court claiming he was careless and negligent. >> definitely, if a case gets filed against caitlyn, that can assist the victim family in their civil case. >> reporter: their representatives told us that neither the attorneys or the family are granting interview requests and are not releasing any statement at this time. jenner's publicist also had no comment. if she's charged and convicted, jenner could spend a year in county jail. reporting from downtown los angeles, i'm carlos grande, abc 7 eyewitness news.
