i will let you know how long the heat will last. in the east bay in a moment, we have a report of a fire, but it is right along i-80. we hear that it is westbound 80 at mcbride. there is a report of a fire possibly burning on the side of the freeway. we are going to find out more information on that. this is the macarthur maze. the traffic is moving nicely from berkeley offer to the bay bridge toll plazas and to get into san francisco it is good but traffic will buildup quickly. >> breaking news in the east bay, firefighters just put out a grass fire before it could spread to hopes in the oakland hills. the fire break out at 2:30 this morning after a transformer blew. investigators believe the spark caught the dry brush on fire and crews had to go down a steep

hill to reach the fire. no one was hurt. >> houston outpouring of support for virginia tv station after two reporters were shot on live tv yesterday morning. our reporter amy hollyfield is here with with how they are carrying on. >> yes, wdbj is on the air this morning but the show focused on the loss of allison parker and adam warm. they were killed yesterday morning, the team paused at the exact moment of their deaths. >> we approach that m we want to pause and reflect and share with you again what made these two so special to us and to all of our hometown wdbj served. join us now in a moment silence. >> employees from wdbj sister station flew in to help with today's newscast. the crew is very emotional. the station's general manager spoke out on "good morning america" this morning calling

#westandwithwdbj. roters and photographers and entire news teams have been sharing photos with the hash created immediately after your's shooting by a reporter in texas calling on her colleagues to stand in solidarity. you can see they are. with stations as far away as canada and in europe joining the efforts. more details are emerging of the gunman in the shooting who spent part of his life growing up here in the bay area. vester lee flanagan took his own life after being confronted by police. he grew up in oakland and many of his relatives live in vallejo. he worked with the victims as a tv reporter under the name bryce williams. some former co-workers describe hip as being disgruntled which surprised a graduate of oakland skyline high. >> he was doing great work in virginia and to see that, it is sad. our hearts go out to the victims and his family because their lives are changed now. >> he graduated from san francisco state with a degree in

shooting ungold from the control room. >> the gunman group up in the bay area. he had a history of anger over race issues in the workplace. co-workers describe vester lee flanagan as a disgruntled employee. he ranted about the two victim on twitter accusing them of racism and an accusation the boss denies. he said he was a gay man the victim of mass murders like columbine. >> to his friends and family in the bay area, vester lee flanagan was an outgoing student named for the 1991 homecoming court at skyline high school in oakland. now he is accused of shooting and killing a reporter and cameraman and turning the gun on himself. >> in while we never saw anything like that he was a happy and positive person and everyone loved him. >> he was also a tv reporter would want by the name of brace williams he worked with the

victims at wdbj in roanoke, virginia, until being fired in 2013. the boss called him an angry man who had to be escorted out of the station. in a suicide note sent to abc news he wrote "i've been a human powder keg for a while waiting to go boom." >> i don't believe it. that is all i can say. i'm in shock. >> virg el has known him since he was a child growing up in this home in oakland. >> soft spoken. polite. educated. >> with heavy hearts and sadness we express our deepest condolence for the families of allison parker and adam ward. >> the family moved to this home in vallejo. he went to san francisco state and worked as an intern and part time writer before moving to the east coast. his family is well respected in the neighborhood.
