deputies are on administrative leave following the death of an inmate. a spokesperson tells axe bc seven news the guards discovered an unconscious inmate who later died. the department is not talking about explanation as to why the guards were placed on leave during the investigation. the oakland police officer who police say was beating her over the head with a chain is out of the hospital. they have not released her name yet. thursday's officer-involved shooting was the sixth for oakland this year. the fourth that has been fatal. and the two people accused of shooting a tourist in a busy neighborhood in san francisco were charged with attempted murder today. police say the two men shot the victim, a visitor from thailand, tuesday as he was trying to get a stolen camera back near the crooked part of lombard street. police chased them across the

bay bridge. the victim is expected to make a full recovery. police are pursuing ought leads in a collision that left a woman dead. laura reyes was struck just off tully road. chris nguyen spoke with the family and joins us with new details chris? >> reporter: family members telling us that laura reyes was kind, and put others before herself. stunned and heart broken, how alina valencia is feeling after the death of her mom. >> for someone to take that away from me, for the guy to walk away like it was a nothing? it really hurts. >> reporter: she was killed by a hit and run driver.

the father of the roanoke virginia tv reporter killed on television wednesday calls for stricter gun laws today. andy parker says he's devastated over the death of his daughter, allison, and her photographer, 27-year-old adam ward, both shot to death by a disgruntled former station employee, vester flanagan. flanagan later committed suicide. andy parker called on lawmakers to make sure troubled individuals don't get their hands on firearms. >> i said mr. president, it's time for to you take a stand and
