after 11 o'clock and they weapon the fire from spreading to the gym. they cut holes through the roof to let the we smoke escape but they believe the structure will be used in the future. a big loss for the community. the sheriff substation, the loma prieta school district facility, and technical support office and the community meeting rooms were destroyed by the flames. >> this used by the whole community and it is our major rental facility where a lot of people coming from out of the town to use our gym and during the day it is used for art, music, meeting, p.e., so it will have a big impact. >> on students attend the two schools. classes are canceled until at least tuesday so firefighters can do their work and all the facilities can be evaluated. there were several ipads and apple tvs and other computers which is a loss. no cause has been determined but

santa cruz county sheriff said that it appears to be "spin." cal fire said it is too soon to determine a cause or place of origin. they will be here all day doing overhaul on the buildings. >> thanks, matt. it is 5:04. both directions of highway 101 on the peninsula are re-opened. the highway was shut down in both directions for emergency power line repairs. our reporter is along 101. amy? >> here is what the problem was, the electrical transmission lines fell on to highway 101 so they had to shut it down to get these off the highway and they had to do the repairs so it was a long weekend for peninsula residents and the due news is highway 101 is re-opened and they got it hope around 4:00 this morning after closing it on friday night because of the construction descend. it happened on an overpass

project on broadway in burlingame. they opened it saturday afternoon but they had to shut it down again last night. pg&e said it realizes what an inconvenience this caused. >> we understand that it is an inconvenience to have portion of 101 here in the bay area closed. pg&e was spending to a third opinion party crew that struck one of our transmission towers which is the main part of our backbone of our electric transmission system. we understand it is inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding but 101 is open on target at 4:00 a.m. >> there were no injuries because of the accident and no one lost power. the c.h.p. said that this is the long of the shut down on highway 101 they can remember. >> notwithstanding you. southwest airlines has an internal investigation after plane wing tip was damaging when

fire breaks out this morning at a school in the santa cruz mountains. investigators believe it is "spin." matt keller is at loma prieta elementary in los gatos. will kids have school today? >> no school today. you can see the firefighters are still putting water on some of the hotspots at the loma prieta gym and commuter center. nucleases for loma prieta and c.t.e. english middle school. the to campuses were not touched by the fire but the bad news is the community center in between, was destroyed. >> the initial engine on the general struck a second alarm when they got here based on the building and the size and the fire intelligencety. it was fully involved when they arrived. >> here is a picture from cal fire, santa cruz twitter feed, the flames they encountered just after look last night. this is going to be a big loss
