transbay tube. and you can push for alerts for the moment the tube opens. and you are traveling to san francisco international this weekend you can expect it to be very crowded. this is a live picture from our sfo camera. airport officials say more than 300,000 passengers are expected to pass through this weekend. tomorrow is expected to be the busiest of the three days. sunday passenger traffic is expected to have an increase of 8% over last year. because of traffic airport officials suggest leaving for sfo earlier to drop off or pick up passengers. >> there there was a bizarre int at san francisco's ocean beach yesterday. a kite surfer was dragged through the air into on coming traffic. wasn't in the water yet. he was setting up his board on the great highway and the boulevard when a wind gust hit t lifted and carried him into more than 40 feet into the southbound lane. he was twisting and couldn't separate from his gear.

keep the fire from burning. neighboring homes, and thank fully no one was hurt. >> two north bay residents are in custody this morning, charged with a widespread criminal investigation of child born that includes victims at home and overseas. cornell bernard has the details. >> there were cops all the way up the street. >> he woke to a predawn raid by the fbi, searching the novato home of 25-year-old patrick harvey, arrested for possession of child born. sting was part of a federal investigation, which also snared 40-year-old kori nicole ellis, who is charged with possession, production and distribution of child born. >> it took a horrible person off the street. >> the international crimes against children unit assisted and found more than 600 images of children at ellis' san francisco home. even images of small children in

bondage. >> and she was able to convince a family, a couple, over in the u.k. and half of them to engage in child pornographic acts for her pleasure. and to send it to her. >> police in the uk placed those children in protective custody. police say ellis met patrick harvey and exchanged graphic child born images. a shock to neighbors. they say the family was quiet and polite and no one answered the door when we knocked. >> it's too close to me personally, but its also close to -- there's a school right up the street. >> kori ellis has pleaded not guilty. she'll be back in federal court next week. patrick harvey could enter his plea on september 14th. in novato, cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> police are on the lookout for a man who flashed two young girls at ross road and aims avenue yesterday afternoon about

two blocks from an elementary school. police said the man was parked inside a navy blue honda civic with no pants on. he made eye contact but didn't say anything. this is the third incident involving a adult disturbing an adult in palo alto sips school began on august 17th. a security guard has been band as work at whole foods after a violent incident in oakland thursday night. we want to warn you, the following images maybe difficult to see. a witnesses took these photos at the whole foods at lake merritt. she said he got violent after an argument between the customer and the cashier. whole foods said it's also tolerating and said it has zero tolerance for violence. last night you saw a virtual audience with pope francis. they asked him questions directly and his answers conclude him into what he may say when he visits washington,

the health department said keep your animals away from the russian river. authorities found toxic blue-green algae in the water. a dog died from algae poisoning, most likely from licking its fur after playing in the river or playing in the water along the shore. signs are posted warning pet owners. this morning rescuers will try to free a blue whale entangled in hundreds feet of line. the whale is about 75 feet long with the line connected with to pewee wrapped around its tail. crews removed as much as possible before dark last night. marine experts hope it reduced some of the drag so the whale won't get so exhausted. there is a driver less shuttle being tested to take students across campus. it looks like a four-seat golf cart. it's great bid computer and has laser cameras with a 360-degree view of campus.

it goes about 10 miles an hour and can detect pedestrian at 200 meters. people can hail it by waving their hands in front of it and the pilot program about begin on september 21st. the rising represents in san francisco are pushing out a favorite place for comic book fans. the cartoon art museum can no longer afford the rent at its long time home near the moscone center. it will close next saturday, september 12th. the museum hasn't found a new location yet and doesn't know when or where it will reopen but the staying persistent of is staying upbeat. they are planning a send-off celebration next thursday at the mission street gallery. >> 40 or more artists will be sketching in the gallery and having a good celebration because we've had a good run in the space and now it's time for a new chapter. >> the director is optimistic the museum will be able to reopen next year somewhere in san francisco. the combination of fantasy

napa and novato only 48 degrees. elsewhere concord in the mid-50s. at this time we are looking from the east bay hills out toward the bay and you can see san francisco, as well, in the background. here's what you need to know. a cool and clear start, a warming trend starts today and you will see warm to hot weather for labor day and that's going to stick around the rest of the week. here's why. we had this area of low pressure, this trough that moved through yesterday. brought us some gusty conditions in the afternoon, contributing to that accident with the kite surfer yesterday but high pressure will build. that will bring us the summer heat this holiday weekend and continue through the work week. so numbers will be rising starting today. highs in the south bay pretty warm, low 80s through san jose and santa clara, even 87 ins3 gilroy. and check out santa cruz. 82 today. also in the peninsula some upper 70s from san mateo to low 80s in mountain view, pacifica

at 69. mild at the coast. 69 in the sunset district. downtown san francisco 74 and look for warm conditions in the north bay. a lot of 80s out there, even upper 80s clover day and santa rosa. sonoma 84. novato 85 and really wonder if you will weather and pleasant in the east bay from 78 in richmond up to 82 in fremont, and inland areas also coming up by about 5 to 10 degrees today. so we could see some upper 80s even from brentwood at 89. walnut creek hitting 86, as well as in livermore. it will be a great game tonight for the oakland a's at the o.co coliseum. even when the game starts it will be 74 degrees. the sun sets at 7:43 and by game time or the end of it you will still be in the upper 60s and it will be a real treat, as well, with the fireworks show playing to green days music because of their induction to the rock n' roll hall of fame. overnight lows tonight will be cool with low 50s in the north

he urged congress to pass a budget on time. >> and if they don't, they will shut down the government for the second time in two years. at a time when the global economy faces head winds, and america's economy is a relative bright spot in the world, a shut-down of our government would be wildly irresponsible. >> the president also urged everyone to tell congress to pass a budget that reflects the values we honor on labor day, such as rewarding hard work and giving everyone a fair shot. new this morning, you can add hilton hotels to the list of companies giving new parents more paid time off. starting next year, new moms who work for the hotel chain will be able to take ten weeks of paid leave. new dads and adopt i have parents will get two weeks off with full pay. hilton said the new policy will cover about 40,000 domestic employees, including those working part-time. according to the white house, the u.s. is the only developed nation that doesn't man date paid maternity leave.

same-sex couples began getting marriage couples in row win county, kentucky, but the clerk in jail for refuse to go issue licenses is claiming they are invalid without her authority. abc news reporter alex perez has more. [applause] >> the moment they have been waiting for. >> i feel like i'm a person. >> a feeling echoed by the five other same-sex couples who got licenses from the deputy clerk. >> i know it's just a piece of paper, but this is a huge deal. >> a far different scene from what happened on tuesday when county clerk kim davis refuse today issue david moore and david ermol a marriage license. >> under whose authority? >> under god's authority. >> the couple denied three times since the supreme court legalized gay marriage nationwide in june. davis jailed thursday, held in contempt of court, refusing to comply with the law. even arguing the marriage licenses that are issued are not

valid. >> they aren't worth the pap they are written on. >> i support kim davis. i think you will see god's people rise up like they never have before. >> davis, one of 17 clerks, who sent letters to the company in july, saying issuing marriage license toss same-sex couples goes against their deeply held religious beliefs. davis has no plans to resign, but if she chews not to and doesn't comply, the judge could keep her in custody until she follows the law. >> she will be there until however long it takes. >> and davis' attorney said she is in good spirits, not gig up. they plan to file an appeal to the judge's order finding her in contempt. alex perez, amount bc news, kentucky. changes are coming in the santa clara county jail following the death of an inmate possibly at the death of three guards. santa clara worker said she'll ask for a new camera system at the jail. abc7 news was in san jose

yesterday as protesters demanded more rights for inmates. the three guards were arrested for murder in the beating death of michael tyree. yesterday david louie was the only journalist to speak with the chief of corrections in charge of the jail. as the chief in charge of the department of corrections, do you say full responsibility for what happens? >> yes. >> john is the undersheriff of santa clara county. he's also in charge of the jails and with the aretail space of three of his correctional deputies, accused of beating and killing inmate michael tyree, he's evaluating his leadership that allowed it to happen. >> were we could go enough to discourage, were we holding people accountable. that's what i was doing as far as scrutinizing myself and my staff. >> protesters gathered and some complained about abuses where novak was taken. this man's son was an inmate last year.

>> they handcuffed him and beat him and his head split open and he was taken to the hospital. >> we are actually going back and reexamining some of the other case that is we had, okay in but we do have quite a few we had been investigating the past several months. >> hour, the tougher challenge will be how better to handle inmates with mental illness. he said his staff is not trained to deal with them. jennifer is a deputy public defender. >> we should not be housing them in the jail. that is absolutely the worst way to take care of somebody who is mentally ill. and the correctional officers who are here are not properly trained on how to deal with the mentally ill. >> the supervisor said that issue is being addressed as the county tries to secure funding for a new jail and to taylor better programs with nonprofit agencies. in san jose, david louie, abc7 news. responding to allegations of biased policing by the san francisco police department, officers this week will undergo

cognitive bias training. it's how we see things in our mind as far as two different people seeing two different things in an inkblot. the problem is cognitive bias may lead to inaccurate judgment and illogical interpretation. members of the city's freeness i have services division will receive the training. that division is responsible for collecting evidence and providing analysis of dna, firearms and gunshot residue >> a warning for bay area drivers this labor day weekend. the chp is now in its maximum enforcement period and will be through monday night, helping drivers in need and look for impaired drivers. 2015 has proved to be one of the deadliest on the road in recent years. there have been 120 deadly collisions since this time last year. that's 20% increase. >> there's definitely an increase in traffic volume. more motorists on the road, more cars on the roadway and more people driving impaired? >> more people driving distracted. all lumped together and have

contributed to this up tick of fatalities in the area. >> they say slow down, wear seatbelts and be courteous to fellow drivers. and health officials are warning people about eating imported cucumbers that are linked to salmonella and the death of a 99-year-old. they come in a box like this one. anderson and williams fresh cucumbers are imported from mexico. health officials say they are the likely source of the outbreak that made more than 280 people sick nationwide. 51 of them in california. this strain of salmonella is particularly dangerous for the elderly, infants and people with weak immune systems. still ahead on the abc7 saturday morning news, strike up the band. one of the country's best known college marching bands is getting ready to hit the field right here in the bay area. first a live look outside from our exploratorium camera.
