parade in pittsburgh where he was urged to run. >> i've got to talk to my wife about that. >> clinton is expected to release a three-pronged campaign finance proposal today. her team hopes it will appeal to undecided democratic voters. new testimony in the sexual assault investigation of chicago blackhawks star patrick kane accused of raping a woman at his house in early august. today a grand jury in western new york will hear from a friend of the alleged victim and possibly even the victim herself. legal experts say prosecutors must be confident in their case since they are taking it to a grand jury. a suburban chicago police lieutenant whose murder set off an intense manhunt has been laid to rest. hundreds of police officers came to pay final respects to joe gliniewicz. he's the 52-year-old father of four who was about to retire after more than 30 years on the

force. thousands of mourners lined the streets to watch the procession. the hunt continues for three men suspected in the shooting. with all the recent police shootings, officers are a little nervous especially in houston where a deputy was gunned down at a gas pump. deputy tommy kelly was worried when she saw a teen watching her as she pumped gas. but the boy told her he just wanted to make sure she was safe and he stood there in the rain watching her back. >> i wanted to do something nice. to show them that there are people that care. >> he didn't want anything in return and said have a good day and turned around and walked off and got in the car. >> she posted the story and a selfie on her facebook page. that photo has been shared nearly 220,000 times. both say they've gotten messages of support from all over the world. >> what a great story. love this one. and crews are battling a fire burning in southern new jersey first spotted at noon yesterday and quickly burned

through 100 acres. no homes or structures in immediate danger but the skies and firefighters are asking for aerial support. conditions are especially dry. no word on what started the fire. in other part of the country a new mandatory evacuation ordered because of a huge wildfire in central california. the rough fire as it's called is approaching 100,000 acres and it's less than a third contained. most of the fire in the sierra national forest. it began more than a month ago with a lightning strike and is currently the largest wildfire in california. the threat of severe thunderstorms continues in the plains and midwest today. tornadoes and flash flooding hit the region while a heat wave sizzles the eastern half of the country. there are extreme conditions along the west coast. abc's rob marciano has the details. >> reporter: powerful storms scattering beachgoers in florida. the last unofficial day of summer, with beaches almost empty. only a brave few out roaming the sands.

britain's most famous sites to visit. less than two miles away, the landscape has been hiding something that could have been even more impressive. this has been dubbed a super henge because this great bank and ditch behind me surrounds an area five times the size of stonehenge. and it's here beneath my feet archaeologists have found at least 100 standing stones that would have loomed over 4 1/2 thousand years ago. systematically scanning the area with ground penetrating radar researchers have been able to pick up signals reflected from stones about a meter beneath the earth. many of them would have stood up to four meters in height making this a great ancient arena. >> at least 30 to 40 are still there. they've been pushed over and the massive bank been placed on top of them. so for the best part of 4 1/2 thousand years, these have just been hidden, lost to archaeology and history. >> reporter: the team is still

30 years on the force. and thousands of mourners lined the streets to watch the mile long funeral procession. the search continues for three men suspected in that shooting. a grand jury in western new york state will hear testimony today in the sexual assault investigation of chicago blackhawks star patrick kane. kane is accused of raping a woman at his home in august. today a grand jury will hear from a friend of the victim and possibly the victim herself. legal experts say prosecutors must be confident in their case since they are taking it to a grand jury. so that ups the stakes even higher. there's now complete vindication for amanda knox. italy's top criminal court says it threw out her conviction earlier this year because there was inefficient evidence. beyond that, the court says the prosecutors case had stunning weakness. the american student and her boyfriend served nearly four

major changes to the marriage annulment process for catholics. the new rules aimed at streamlining procedures criticized as lengthy, costly and unfair. divorced catholics who remarry outside the church are forbidden from receiving communion. and a church annulment could take years and cost thousands of dollars. back here in the states, president obama ordered more paid sick leave. his executive order will require federal contractors to provide up to seven days of paid sick leave per year. while visiting labor groups in boston, the president called on congress to expand sick leave and family leave in the private sector. to southern new jersey where crews are battling a forest fire. there's no danger to homes. residents say they can smell the smoke. the fire quickly burned 100 acres. firefighters are requesting an air tanker and helicopter to battle the flames. conditions in new jersey have been extremely dry over the past few weeks due to lack of rainfall. from our health headlines now, a new use for your smartphone alleviating motion sickness from british researchers. they sent amounts of electricity
