of the weekend. i'll detail the record-break forecast potentially come up. chris. >> lisa, thank you. breaks news overnight. one man is dead and another charges with dui after an accident on 580 in oakland. it happened just after midnight in the westbound lanes near the lakeshore off-ramp. a driver carêmed off a wall and went into a construction crew where they were paving the roadway. a subcontractor working for was struck and thrown approximately 100 feet. the driver of the car was not injured. this morning some encouraging news for residentsful middletown who had been evacuated. they will be allowed back into their homes starting at noon today. evacuation orders have also been lifted for twin lakes and rancho sendero. some people have already returned home. and lake county officials say they will provide escorts today to areas where evacuation remain so people can check on their

animals. this includes hidden valley lake, cobb and anderson springs. it comes as the fire continues to burn. it's now spread to 73,700 acres, but containment is now up to 45% as firefighters slowly take the upper hand. and schools in middletown could reopen next week. abc7 news reporter alan wang tells us the evacuees at the fairgrounds can't return. >> news they can go home as nerves are beginning to frey at the evacuation camp. >> emotions are running wild, fights everywhere, and we are anxious to get home. >> they could use a morale booster. especially when the mustangs are supposed to be playing their homecoming game. >> going out there friday night and the lights, everybody loves it. >> but a pile of face mask, is all that's left in the burnt-out equipment shack. in 30 years the coach has build

wildcats and their here leaders will help. they are holding a toy drive at their home game in forestville from 11:00 30 to 4:00. the toys will i taken to the moose lodge evacuation center with where the players, all dressed in uniforms, will be handing out the gifts. >> a man was arrested thursday night, accused of stealing an s.u.v. from other evacuated. he was taken from an evacuated property in lower lake. he admitted to spray painting it black and white to make it look like a police car and filling the vehicle with several items stolen from the home. they are using social media to find northern 200 pets found in the heart fire zone. a heartbreaking picture. workers want to reunite all the aboutets and owners, but some people won't be coming back because they no longer have the means to care for their pets. abandoned animals will eventually go up for adoption.

>> 5:04 is our time. east of stockton the butte fire is getting closer to full containment. many people evacuated for more than a week or wake up in their homes. 63% containment is reported and 70,000 acres burned with more than 500 homes destroyed. firefighters are warning residents to watch out for damaged powerlines and loose burned trees and rocks. a mountain lion cub is recovering after being badly burned in the fire. state fish and wildlife officials are nursing the 4-month-old cub back to health. volunteers found him monday while evacuating domesticated animals in the county. his condition is still fragile. >> there are secondary infections and possibly a respiratory infection that can still set in so we monitor his condition daily. >> once health this he will be

heavy set, driving a green minivan. approaching 5:07. a man accused of spray painting racist graffiti last month could face a year up in jail. 46-year-old billy samuels was arrested august 30th. he was charged with vandalism with a hate crime enhancement. in another ugly incident, three men and a teenage girl has been connected with this fight outside of levi's stadium following the football game with the vikings. two men have made bail. the teenager was reshed to her parents. all four face charges of felony assault. katie marzullo has the latest. >> santa clara police say the 34-year-old eric martin necessary is the man wearing number 80 in a video you see a vikings fan being attacked. we went to his apartment in san jose where at least one neighbor saw police arrest him thursday night. another neighbor said he doesn't

a san francisco house where a mummified body was found has been sold. in april police found items stacked slow to ceiling, including the corpse of an elderly woman. she died several years earlier, but her daughter kept living there. the property has just sold for $1.5 million. happening today, an army of volunteers caring brooms and garbage bags will be cleaning up the coast and the event carries a bit more urgency this year. it's the 31st annual cleanup day and there are many ways you can help clean up waterways, creeks and shoreline. organizers worry that winter storms will goff tons of garbage into the san francisco bay, as well as the pacific ocean. last year volunteers across the state picked up over 1 million pounds of trash and recyclables. weather-wise, we are in for a really warm day? >> yeah. >> at&t park going to be busy

>> police have arrested a man suspected in a series of highway shootings that terrorized motorists in arizona. a s.w.a.t. team arrested the 21-year-old man at a phoenix air walmart. there have been 11 vehicles shot along interstate 10 since august 29th. investigators said forensic evidence connects him to the first four. they aren't sure if he's responsible for the others or if they are copycats. a little girl who was name less for a month mass a name this morning. she's two and a half-year-old bella bond and she looks similar to this girl. her mother is a suspect. she blames her boyfriend, saying he punched bella in the stomach. we have the break in the case. >> authorities say they finally have a name for this toddler, whose heartbreaking story captivated so many across the country, after this computer-generated come 'sive photo of her was shared and

viewed on line more than 50 million times. it was back in june a woman found her little body in a trash bag at a beach in boston harbor. investigators had little to go on so police turned to the public and social media sharing this sketch and pictures of her pajamas and zebra way jam pause pants. finally a huge break with that tip. >> we were able to build the case in about 24 hours and solve it with that tip. >> under arrest and charged with murder is 35-year-old michael mccarthy. the boyfriend of bella's mother, michelle bond. >> happy second birthday. >> he posted this video on facebook at bella's second birthday celebration. the 40-year-old mother is now also behind bars, charged in connection with bella's death. >> we allege that mccarthy caused bella's death, that he did so intentionally, that he and bond took specific deaths to keep become ella's death a

the pope will meet with president obama and will be the first pope to speak to congress. he will also name california missionary a saint. new york city and philadelphia will round out the pope's u.s. trip. abc news cain core ama daetz will be in washington to cover the first stop of the visit. look for her report tuesday. in san francisco city officials are trying to decide what to do about a sculpture that's being vandalized in a neighborhood. carolyn tyler look at some of the work that some believe was created by a parliament sculpture that was part of the harlem renaissance. >> this sculpture was carved from a single square. it reclines in a small scare in san francisco's western addition neighborhood. >> how did does 2 make you feel to see it in this state. >> i wanted to cry. >> john templeton said until earlier this year the statute

looked like this undamaged. he believes the vandalism is a symbolism of disappearing black population in the city. >> when a piece like this starts being damaged is the sign of a larger decline of the community. >> templeton is convinced the statute is the work of the famed sculpture johnson, one of the first african-american artists living in the bay area to gain national recognition. this was a 1936 project by johnson. still in place today at washington high school in san francisco. his work is everywhere, including prominent museums in the city, but not everyone is convinced this statue is his. >> i played here and i'm so sergeant johnson expert. i respect his work, know hiss his work and i'm familiar with his work. i'm not 100% certain. >> they said the city is working to identify the piece. two sergeant johnson works are being moved to pier27.

templeton would like this statue to join them. in san francisco, carolyn tyler, abc7 news. >> san francisco giants maggio e. bruce bochy regularly takes walks along the embarcadero but yesterday he was joined by thousands of people. he set out with 5,000 others for the annual heart walk. the fundraising event is personal for bochy. he had two stints inserted during spring training after experiencing heart problems. he said a checkup may have saved his life. >> just get checked out. it's what my doctor told me. he said, bruce, you know, you may die of something, but you come in and get looked at once a year, i'll make sure it's not the heart. we will keep it going. >> so far this year the heart walk has raised $3 million to fight heart disease and strokes. it's all eyes on the bay when speeding dragon boats take to the water for the 20th

the upper elevations. it will become more well-mixed and the warmth heading down to the surface and the high pressure building quickly over the weekend. 48 in napa. 52 in novato. 57 concord and in livermore 55 degrees. from our sutro tower camera highlights, warm to hot this weekend with records possible tomorrow. we are talking perhaps maybe 104 for livermore and also more records could fall across the bay. it will be cooler for the start of the next week after monday. monday still looks to be pretty warm. it's all about double barrel high pressure. as it builds in it shuts off the marine air. tas it does the flow comes from the east, if we get wind at all, and the winds will be light. with the high pressure pushing down on the atmosphere, that's how we warm up so quickly. monday we are still talking warm weather but look what happens. some of the subtropical moisture is being pulled off, but the

only lucky folks will be in san diego and los angeles. as a result our relative humidity will come up so it will feel stickier. today relative humidity decreases and temperatures up toward the area around cobb. about 90 today. low 90s for tomorrow, monday. then you will see the cooling trend into next week. the next 24 hours i talked about the lighter winds, and they are going to be out of the north. but you can see how light they will be throughout the day today. but that relative humidity really dropping out there. in the south bay, how about 90 in san jose? 94 in morgan hill. 90 sunnyvale. up the peninsula look for 90, palo alto, redwood stay and mountain view. 75 here. looks good. and these reds represent the warmer air. 92 santa rosa, napa and sonoma. near east bay 86 today. over in oakland with 85 in san leandro. 88 fremont. you head inland, this will be the cooler day of the weekend with 95 in san ramon, 97 in

bones. the rest were made with the help of a 3d printer. another scientist made an amazing discovery at a housing site in wisconsin. this is the nearly intact fossil of a whale that could be up to $1 million years old. our media partner said on september 4th they found the first fossil and continued to uncover the rest. scientists said it's not unusual to find whale fossils on a hill because of earth plates and shifting plates. they believe it can teach they will a lot about the evolution of whales. >> artists are gathered all over san francisco this weekend for a major painting marathon. this isn't happening inside a studio, it's taking place in 16 city blocks around the mission district. the artist have started creating masterpieces on walls, fences and even garage doors. unlike graffiti tigers, they have permission to spray paint.

tomorrow. chris >> lisa, thank you. new this morning, mexican authorities have arrested 13 more people in connection with july's prison escape of the man. he disappeared into the tunnel dug beneath his tunnel. a motorcycle was waiting, gassed and ready. a newly built house is where the tunnel ended. seven prison workers were immediately charged in the breakout. the new assists include three high officials from the federal brings sop system. back home, the presidential front runner donald trump is at the front of a fierce debate. it comes after a face-to-face meeting with a supporter who made a controversial claim about president obama and muslims in america. some of his rivals are weighing in and hillary clinton is pulling no punches. we have more on the controversy from south carolina. >> donald trump is under fire for the way he handled this

it's the 12th rabid bat found this year. if contacted with the bat you have to receive vaccine within hours afterwards. 24 illnesses have been reported around the country to listeria and there's been one death in ohio. karoon dairies in san fernando recalled these brands. the company said so far none of its products has tested positive for listeria, but it issued the recall after the dcd and fda informed them of a link to the illnesses. 5:37 is our time. man who came up for coliseum city to keep the team in oakland has been dropped from the project. according to our media partner, floyd and his plan are history. his negotiating rights to the

the media fest cal attempt december got a look at the hit show "fresh off the boat." they were at cam fest, hosted by the center for asian america media. executive producer ofthe sitcom, melvin marr, spoke at the event and talked about the importance of diversity on television. it returns for its second season this season at 8:30 p.m. right here on abc7. government scientists estimatehat 2015 will almost certainly be the hottest year in reported history. this map from noaa shows the average temperature worldwide between january and july of this year. take a look. the peach to orange color indicates areas with above average to record temperatures. overall the average global temperature in that span was .09 degrees celsius above every wilful-year record. it may not seem like a lot, but 2014 eclipsed 2010 by a warmer

the 90s today, tomorrow and into monday and then a nice temperature drop, unfortunately no rain. we are looking at cooler and dryer weather. the winds, i talked about how they aren't going to be a factor at the beach. and really very little win. this will allow for the temperatures to climb quickly out of north today for the most part. and then maybe a puff of a northwest wind later on this evening. so the week ahead in half moon bay looks pretty pleasant with mid-70s today and tomorrow. average temperatures in the upper 60s. so if you are thinking about going to the beach, it would be a good weekend and, of course, probably a crowded spot, as well. temperatures bottoming out open tuesday with low 60s. so all we need now is to get in a little rain here. fortunately doesn't look likely. but still forecasts are promising the wetter than normal winter outlook. short term 86 in concord today. 90 in palo alto and san jose with 88 in fremont. upper 80s for santa cruz. a warm day today for the diamondbacks in san francisco. 80 at about 3:00 and 92 in napa,
