>> police are investigating an explosion and fire that sent a 23-year-old man to the hospital with burns. it came from a shed at 10:30 last night investigators the shed was used as a hash oil lab. the fire spread to a fence next to an apartment complex forcing neighbors to evacuate while firefighters put out the fire. >> firefighters in lake county continue to make progress against the valley fire. cal fire said it is 930 percent contained and mandatory evacuations remain in affect for cobb and one is still missing. schools in middletown are set to re-open on monday for the first time since the fire began. >> look at the images captured

>> who said learning can't be super fun? third graders in san jose got a hand's on experience making weather balloons. over the past few weeks they got advise from nasa scientists. this morning, everyone got a chance to test the designs. the exercise taught the kidded about science but more importantly about teamwork. >> we wanted to be happy with the hot hair balloon, too, so we had a conversation to see which we liked the most and we picked

here is our san jose camera, 280 at 17, and it is hazy but temperatures are on the rise again, under the brighter sky. and autumn will return this weekend and october is in the seven-day forecast forecast already and it will be dry, unfortunately. winds are picking up a little bit but, notice, the areas that do not have wind this morning we are 12 at sfo and 12 at half moon bay so we will be slightly cooler in a few areas near the coast and san francisco compared to yesterday but we have a lot more sunshine showing up on the visible satellite so you need to protect yourself from the sun. two areas of high pressure is the setup but they are starting to get bumped down to the south and they will hold on for another day of above-average temperatures before this low starts to come in this weekend and transition us from summer back to autumn. today, mid-to-upper 80s for milpitas and sunnyvale and everyone else in the low-to-mid 90s and in santa cruz not so warm, but more comfort and 84

degrees. the difference fromening on the coast with a few clouds and we are 20 degrees warmer at palo alto at 88. 76 when the sun sets and upper 80s to low 90 through most of the north bay, 93 in santa rosa the warm spot. and east bay shore, sunshine and oakland at 84 and 88 in castro valley. pretty warm, again, low-to-mid 90 and this could be the last day we feel that for a long-term. now, granted the giants are not out of it, eight games behind with ten games to play, if anyone can do it the giants. 7:00, it will be 72 dropping to 64. on the other side, it will be rockin' and rolling at at&t park with ac/dc bringing on the thunder at 71 and dropping to 63. a gorgeous night. temperatures are going to drop into to mid-50s to low 60s.

notice the difference, more clouds as the marine layer develops this weekend ahead of the cold front, and we will wake up to more clouds tomorrow and drop eight degrees in the afternoon. now, the cold front will introduce dry air and we have more sunshine on sunday but a couple of degrees cooler and you will really notice the difference on monday and tuesday and wednesday next week and it will family lake fall, 20 degrees cooler than today. >> this is not the perfect pet, but a look at the panda camera from the national zoo in washington, dc, that little guy taking a nap, has a name. meat bei-bei which means precious treasure. the first lady obama and the first lady china jointly announced the name. the giant panda cub is 4 1/2 weeks old and early this week, keepers weighed bei-bei when his mom left the den to eat. he weighs flee pounds but he will grow to weigh 280 pounds.
