maybe you saw the project taking face behind us in this overpass here. on highway 580. you might have even passed antonio ramos when he was working on it. no one saw the shooter coming. >> we're devastated. >> that's what the whole mural is about, community, revitalization. >> but not soon enough, after a man with a gun killed one of the artists with a single shot. motive unknown. >> i saw a minor altercation between him and the suspect. >> i think that fortunately, engaged somehow with the shooter. and before we knew it, the man pulled out a gun and shot him. >> the artist had volunteered his time on the oakland superhero's project which aims

at involving middle school kids who had planned to visit here tomorrow. the artist had cleaned up the area. this mural had been coming along quickly. it should have been something good. now, in its place, sadness and pain. >> trying to beautify a neighborhood that has challenges. >> everyone passing by has been saying thank you. >> now, no words. from oakland, wayne friedman, abc 7 news. >> amad brooks pleaded not guilty today to charges of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman. mcdonald was indicted on a felony rape charge involving the same woman on the same night. his next court day is october 28th. brooks, meanwhile, is still under contract and is playing for the 49ers. >> an oakland teacher and coach has been put on leave after a video surfaced showing him in a

violent altercation with a student on a bus. >> it involved the high school team and laura anthony is there now live. laura? >> reporter: hi, larry. the administration and the district are somewhat blind sided by this incident which happened more than a week ago. not only are they concerned about what appears on this video, but, also, about why they weren't informed about it right after it happened. it's a video that showed what first looks like a heated discussion between a coach and a player. and then quickly escalates. >> we're extremely disapointed by our preliminary impression. >> according to the district, the student is a senior. the adult, the j.v. football coach named carlos anderson. it happened on september 19th as he was returning from a game in crescent city. >> based on the visual evidence, it appears that the first

physical contact was initiated by the adult. that's the main area of concern. there was an opportunity to deelse clat before the push occurred. >> there is an investigation under way to determine what precipitated the fight. and, also, why it wasn't reported to the principal or the district before the video suddenly appeared on twitter. abc 7 news talked with anderson by tell sfoen. he said i've been doing this work for 15 years and don't appreciate my characterer be attacked like this. anderson is on paid leave following an investigation by the district. >> we're learning more today about the latest step at the santa clara counselty main jail. it's the second death there in just more than a month. the man with a 33-year-old inmate reports he was on suicide watch when he was found unresponsive yesterday morning. a person familiar with the investigation tells abc 7 news the man was on the eighth floor

where inmates with mental health issues are housed. the santa clara county's office say it is changing response to the previous death. >> we've had community meetings, more than one transparent. these are some of the things that came up and that's why we're doing it. >> well, back in august, michael tireed died at the jail. three deputies now face murder charges. >> we now know two men shot and killed inside the car. police say victims died shortly after 8:15 last night in the area of san pablo avenue. authorities have no suspects or even a possible motive at this point. >> a man is concerned about the unusual number of seals warbling ashore. this january, the organization says 80 have washed ashore, 42 of them dead. th

that's eight times the normal amount. officials say the increase in stranded seals is likely because of unusually warm water. researchers hope to learn more about the first seal's hablts by studying the ones that washed ashore. >> a brook lynn library that was closed over the weekend because of bedbugs is opening this afternoon. the city's north branch reopened at 10:00 a.m. officials did a heat and steam treatment after finding bedbugs on friday morning in the men's bathroom. >> they're a very good public library. they're being responsible. i come here every day. i'm very happy. i know these people. they're very desent people. odd. i wouldn't think it would be an i shall shoe unless on the carpet or something. this place was just renovated. so i don't know. >> berkley plans to use bug-sniffing dogs. bedbugs also closed in palo alto last week. >> all right.

we're joined by fans of the popular french chain who plans to reopen six locations in san francisco. live on pine street in the san francisco store. it launched three years ago when the chain began offering baked goods at its coffee shop. you'll rebel they dded to decided to close all 23 loaf cases saying operating the chain's attraction. >> the blue angels are returning fleet week. you can catch all of the aerial acrobatics. they'll perform saturday and sunday, october 10th and 11th. thousands are expected in san francisco for the special event which also included the parade with the shift towards us. usually this time in the afternoon, we'll see them off the roof practicing. >> you and i will be able to see it. standing on the roof. >> we'll probably be in the studio watching the monitor of

she tried to justify her actions saying that these guidelines were established under president ronald reagan. the level of accusations based on heavily-doctored videos are offensively and categorically untrue. this is the first time planned parent hood president had been before congress with videos. >> contraceptive services, annually, prevent 1.2 million unintended pregnancies. >> taxpayer dollars are being used to free up services that you provide that are aberrant services. >> along the grounds of the u.s. capitol, supporters were wearing pink. >> they're entitled to their own views. but here's what they're not entitled to. they're not entitled to the

facts. >> reporter: planned parent hood uses $525 million. by law, none of the federal money supports abortions, but critics argue it's still a problem. >> we should fund the government and shift the money from this organization to organizations who didn't do this kind of behavior. >> according to the most recent research poll, americans agree with continued funding for planned parenthood by a margin of 2-to-1. sounds like congress may be moving in that direction. the government shutdown is looking increasingly less likely. >> thank you, lana. a planned parenthood supporter in several bay area cities are getting in on pink out day. they're getting out for the demonstration. anti-abortion groups have attacked planned parenthood doctors and nurses and patients

of accusations. demonstrators hope pink out day will help. pink out day has supporters and critics talking on social media today. republican presidential candidate mike huckabee is a critic. so the federal money of guests would be better spent. planned parent hood provides quality, affordable healthcare to those who need it most. actress elizabeth franks is a supporter and says while she couldn't demonstrate a person today, she's there in spirit. sarah ramierez tweeted to her followers to change their profile pictures to show support. >> it's back to work now for the nba champion golden state warriors. they held their first practice in training carp today. the new championship banner held over in oakland. coming up, the first title in 40 years. >> the coach was not able to sit back and enjoy his team's accomplishments over the past couple of months.

he's had two back surgeries instead. despite the starting line-up in the finals, friends go back to harrisson barns as a starter. >> we changed, you know, what we did last year when we had as much success as we did. but, again, you kind of let the camp play out. there's nobody guaranteed, you know. and then injuries, there's all kinds of stuff that happened. so we'll definitely start out the same way we ended last year. >> the warriors first pre-season game is coming up next monday in san jose at the shark tank. a frightening incident in a major league baseball game involving a former stanford star. steven piscotti collided in last night's game against the pirates. biscotti was motionless for several minutes. you can see how concerned they were. he was eventually carted off the field to cheers from the pittsburgh crowd. he suffered a head contusion but

further tests conducted were negative, so no concussion. piscotti is expected to be released from the hopt any time now. >> today is the anniversary of one of the greatest plays in baseball history. on this date in 1954, willy mays robbed vick lors of the cleveland indians of extra bases. that was game 1 of the world series. that ball traveled more than 450 feet. it would have been out of just about any other ballpark. but the polo grounds, the center field was like 480. it would have been a homer in any other park, including yellow stone. to this day, any overthe head catch is referred to a willy mays catch. spencer christian, too bad he's not here today. he's a big baseball fan and he just loved willy mays. >> well, cindy can speak to it, too. she's loving today's forecast. >> absolutely.

here, it's really minor right now. a lot of sunshine filtered by those high clouds north. you look to the south and they're pretty much everywhere. let me show you where they're coming from. today's temperatures in the 60s and the 70s so far. running cooler-than-average for this time of year. and those high clouds on doppler 7 hd, pretty much all we're seeing, we're not seeing the rain just yet. temperature change, napa, san jose, oakland, a lovely view where we are seeing some peeks of blue. below average the next two day, possible showers in the south thursday morning. and we're looking at a quick warm-up on friday. satellite radar showing you where those clouds are coming from. the sub tropical jet stream is bringing them in in high level clouds across the bay area. there's a weak cold front approaching the bay area. it gets closer to us by really wednesday evening into thursday morning. there's a clans of sprinkles or a light shower.

best chance of a south bay as that low tracks eastward across the bay area. they will certainly see some showers, possible thunlder on thursday, as well. wednesday, they could see some showers as well. now, there's a second opportunity for us to see some welt weather here in the bay area. this happens to fauld over the weekend. so saturday evening at 5:00, the low starts to come back towards the bay area. there's another slight chance on sunday morning. if you have outdoor birthday plannings, weddings, you'll want to keep this in mind. there's still some computer model discrepancies. we'll keep you posted. tomorrow morning, its's going to be a bit low. quite a bit of cloud cover, some fog along the coast. and then, for the afternoon,we'll keep it on the partly to moegsly cloudy sky with conditions a lot like today. 77 in livermore, fairfield, 71

in oakland, 75 santa rosa. san francisco, 66. and 64 degrees at half-moon bay. accu weather forecast, mid 60s to low 80s for two more days. a sliegt possibility of seeing some wet roadways. and then it's really a warm-up, 10 degrees warmer inland on friday with low 90s, about 4-5 degrees warmer at the coast. and then we'll go with a breezier and cooler pattern for the weekend with mid to upper 60s. and we'll hold you there early next week. bum, as i mentioned, that sunday possibility is still up in the air. at this point, we have to take every opportunity for showers that we can get. larry, natasha? >> you've con vinced me. >> come on, el nino. >> that's right. bring it. to see the effects, we have to wait until the winter, by the way. people are still asking about that. if you want the effects to bring us a lot of rain, but it wouldn't happen until december.

taking a look at the headlines today at 4:30. oakland police are looking for the man who shot and killed an artist this morning. the artist was working on the oakland superhero's mural project over the 580 overpass. police say they got into an argument when the other man pulled out a gun and shot him. wayne friedman tweeted this photo of the artist painting the

mural. an inmate at the santa clara county jail was found dead in his cell yesterday. david louise says there are many questions about another inmate's death. autopsy results are days away. they will also have a live report at 5:00. thousands of 49ers season ticketholders are trying to sell their licenses at levi's stadium. at 5:00, chris wynn will tell us why fans are unhappy with the team and the menu. >> november 30 thd th is the st date of the trial of officer william porter, charged with man slaulgter, reckless endangerment and assault. trial dates are still impending for the other officers. he allegedly died from a spinal injury he suffered shortly after his arrest. his days sparked days of protest as well as rioting, looting and arson.

go to customers will be rolled out. general motor social security reintroducing their volt in the bay area later this year. fuel efficiency has been one of the guiding forces of all of these cars. but companies are touting the performance. >> we can go 0-60 in 8.4 seconds t. great thing is electric motors have instant torque. >> gas prices have been dropping this year for a number of reasons. that may be slowing down car sale this is year compared to last year. so far, nearly 72,000 of these electric vehicles have been sold in 2015. that's less than 7,000 fewer cars sold at this time last year. the electric cars are leer to stay despite plum etting gas prices. >> ironically, one of the reasons gas prices are low is because noud there's so many exciting opportunities to push for the cleanest electric

that's the abeighty to reflect blue light hitting the surface and then reemit it as a different color. they've seen biofluorescence in some tiny crustaceans, but never in a marine reptile. >> look at you, you sound like a marine biologist. >> no, i just read the words. but you definitely can feel that the seasons have changed, natasha and larry. let's take a look at what's going obama. >> clouds passing through the bay area, you've seen them outside. of course, in the tropical pacif pacific, it's more than clouds. marty is the tropical storm that continues to dump some rain on the coast of mexico. tropical storm warnings throughout the area. this is expected to weaken to a depression as we head towards wednesday night continuing to move away. cloud and heavy rain will be a concern. on the other side of the atlantic, we're watching another storm, joquin. that's one we're going to keep a close eye on, as well. it's a tropical storm that's expected to intensify to a category 1 hurricane possibly impacting the bahamas thursday and then the course of this storm is really unclear. but the mid atlantic states, this weekend, could see some effects from it. speak of, it's been pouring in the virginia area. some heavy rains prompting some

lackluster tailgating atmosphere. >> we're getting beat up by the soon. here, you're going to drink beer and get beat up. coming home with sunburn. it's just a bad experience. >> license holder of san francisco agrees. saying something isn't right about levi's stadium. >> i don't think it has a whole lot of character. i don't think there's anything unique about it that speaks to the 49ers as a team or of the fans as a franchise. >> the 49ers changed their ticket policy opting for digital delivery. license holders don't have access until 48 hours before the game, making it harder for them to sell. >> we just hope that the 49ers would look at us as having already purchased these tickets and let us do what we want with them rather than placing all of these restrictions. >> both men say it's going to be hard to sell their licenses. in fact, more than 3,000 licenses are currently for sale in the markt place.
