a time. unarmed i may add. this is a very small campus compared to city college in san francisco, which has a very different policy. city college of san francisco has its own police force. the officers are on the main campus and throughout the city. they also share a dispatch center with san francisco police. >> we rely not only on our police but students, faculty and staff to be vigilant to help us, you know, be prepared for the situations. >> you can sense danger before it happens. certain people, then, you can be safe. >> reporter: city college will roll out an emergency alert system called regroup. students, faculty and staff will receive a text message in the event of a situation like the one in oregon. >> it could happen to anyone.

investigations are credible and will stand up to scrutiny. >> five santa clara county sheriff deputies have been placed on leave. the abc7 news i team has new information about a 32-year-old inmate who died in the main jail on monday. >> sources confirm deputies used a controversial riot gun on the man at close range. and dan noyes is here with a story you'll see only on abc7 news. >> reporter: the coroner tells the i team an early examination rules out an acute injury. it will take weeks to conclude cause of death. but we know more about what happened to that inmate than the sheriff has released so far. this is walter rocha's mug shot in april after serving time for domestic violence. he arrived in santa clara county's main jail on battery and drunk in public charges. records show he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

sources familiar with the investigation tell the i team his experience of a psychotic episode as deputies responded to his cell. this is how the under sheriff described it tuesday. >> staff noticed he was banging the door with his fist. in a bit angry. >> reporter: sources say he refused to take psych meds to they decided to move him to the mental health unit but he refused to go. >> guards deployed a plastic projectile. >> from a riot gun. covered in plastic but containing metal beads. officers hit him three times, a minute apart. sources tell me he had 15 inches of bruising on his abdomen and chest area. five days later, monday, he died at the jail. sources say an officer found him with a bloody froth coming out

of his mouth. >> i'm just talking about during extraction time, we have video of that. everything described here, we have all of it. >> reporter: the sheriff will not release that video of the cell extraction at this point. >> reporter: i'd like to know what guidelines the officers follow for the use. other sheriffs have stricts rules, guidelines from one department in the mid west say the potential for harm is if the person is struck at range of less than 12 feet. sources tell me an officer fired the fn 303 through the food tray port and he was standing only 6 to 8 feet away. the boston police department destroyed all of theirs after this red sox celebration in 2004. an officer shot a 21-year-old in the eye, killing her.

and e-mail address. so we called and e-mailed and jeff received a refund, but only about half of the price. we e-mailed again asking what about the lifetime warranty? where was this cover really made? the company replied person insisted he qualifies as made in america and that the lifetime warranty is quote, true. jeff is happy he got half of the money back. >> it was more than i'd hoped. report. >> it is against federal law to claim a product is made in the usa when most materials from a foreign country. that helps you know if the product will meet standards set by the u.s. government.
