>> reporter: dive teams will continue searching the lake until dark tonight and then again tomorrow morning in what has now back recovery mission. several sales force employees were on a team-building exercise when a bunch of employees on a boat ran into trouble. >> they were all referred to as the last trip. >> reporter: parks police spokesperson says the owner of an aluminum boat that took on water was making the final trip to shore with a group of employees. the boat owner had shuttled multiple groups. the last group may have been over the boat's capacity. when the boat began filling with water, seven people swam to shore but 31-year-old man didn't make it. >> the search area right now is the size of a football field. the depth ranges from ten to 50 feet. the bottom is hard-packed rock, and they're searching by behind. >> reporter: a spokesperson

confirmed the missing man is a contractor in sales force's i.t. organization. in an e-mail statement the spokesperson says our thoughts are with the family and friends during this time. we are receiving updates from local authorities but have no further information to share. several sales force employees were at the lake today but did not want to speak on camera. privately owned boats are inspected before they get in the water, checking for mussels that can harm the lake and more. >> they require a life vest for every boater. >> reporter: number of the boaters were wearing life jackets. >> it's best to take the recommendations of your craft or local staff. >> reporter: all of the boats are supposed to be off the water at 6:00 p.m. but the boat's owner was bringing back the final group closer to 7:00 p.m. friday night. live in livermore. abc7 news. >> take a look at this. san francisco police are in

search of a gunman caught on the surveillance video attacking another map in a garage thursday morning. the victim wrestled the suspect to the ground and gets the gun and then runs out of the garage with the attacker now chasing after him. well, later on, the victim then points the gun at the suspect, who later on took off running. another manhunt underwayway in oak lean after the shooting death of an ice cream vender. a man shot at him yesterday afternoon. the gunman ran through backyards and was able to get away. police have not determined if anything was stolen from the victim. it's the second daytime killing in oakland in four days. on tuesday an artist was shot to death while painting an antiviolence mural in west oakland. no arrives have been made in his case. this year oakland has recorded 74 homicides, and that is 15

more than the same time last year. after thursday's deadly school shooting in oregon, governor jerry brown is now considering a ban of concealed handguns on schools and campuses in california. current law makes it illegal to bring guns within a thousand feet of school or college. the on exemption is for law enforcement or anyone with a concealed weapons permit. the governor has a week to sign the legislation passed in september. since the shoot there have been louder calls for stronger gun control. tiffani will son is live from san mateo would a group is holding a vigil for she shooting victims. >> reporter: the brady campaign against gun violence is in support of governor brown signing that bill. the vigil tonight you can see behind me, is really focused on the nine victims and their families. organizers say thursday's mass shooting at umpqua community college is just the latest tragedy and a reminder of what they work to prevent every day.

several member of the san mateo police department are here as well. the brady campaign wants to see increased background checks and more education, saying perhaps that could have made a difference in roseburg. families hope this is the last mass shooting our nation will mourn and hope this is the last series of vigils held in honor of lives lost at the hands of a gunman. they hope that this time there will be concrete changes made. they hope umpqua is the tipping point. >> we're in a crisis. we're not only an embarrassment in the world because of the gun deaths every day, but this mass shooting is a reflection on how we are empowering people to use these guns to solve their problems, and so what we want to do is keep guns out of dangerous hands. >> as you can see there's several dozen people here right now. they joined hands. they plan to pray to have a
