live from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. now at 11:00, sky 7 hhd was over the marin county jail, three drifters accused of murders areturn to the bay area. tonight, details about the serious punishment they could face. good evening, thanks for joining us. dan ashley is off. authorities transported sean angold, lila alligood and haze melanie woodrow is live in the newsroom. >> reporter: the suspects could face life in prison or the death penalty. authorities picked them up in portland. with shaved heads and wearing orange jumpsuit lila alligood,

sean angold, and morrison lampley arrived in jail. they killed hiker steve carter in marin county and canadian tourist audrey carey in golden gate park. carter's dog was also shot and injured. several people reported seeing the true you in san francisco around the time of carey's death. escape from new york pizza employee recalls serving someone who looked like alligood. >> there was no silent interaction, no aggression. >> reporter: tips and security video helped investigators identify the suspects. all three are facing murder, robbery, stolen vehicle, and property along with animal cruelty charges. lampley is also facing stolen firearm and ex-felon in possession of a firearm charges. they'll stand trial for both murders in marin county though they took place in different counties. >> it's a little unusual but it happens. >> reporter: abc 7 legal analyst says it could be a strategic move.

>> if you're a prosecutor and you can introduce evidence about two murders in the same form, it can strengthen your case against each one of them. >> reporter: the special circumstances that make them eligible for the death penalty include multiple murders, lying in wait and murder during a robbery. the arraignment hearings for all three are wednesday at 9:00 in the morning in marin superior court. in the newsroom, abc 7 news. >> melanie, thank you. abc 7 news was there moments after fire department rescue swimmers pulled a man from san francisco bay. witnesses say the man jumped into the water from a dock at the ferry building at 6:00 p.m. and treaded water for several minutes. the ferry crew tossed him a life ring. he never reached for it. he was conscious when paramedics took him to the hospital. santa clara county sheriffs detectives have been processing the area where a human skull was found this morning. it turned up near montaveno road and sherrys way in los gatos.

lilian kim is live with the story tonight. >> reporter: the skull was found nearly two miles up the road. detectives are done for the night but their work is far from over. homicide detectives, search and rescue teams and cadaver dogs converged on the steep and narrow road by los gatos. someone discovered a human skull on sherrys way. >> they're trying to locate any evidence. all evidence can be part of the crime if it is a crime. later if he determine it was a crime, we have the evidence to set the scene. >> reporter: detectives haven't confirmed yet if the skull is that of a man or woman. they also don't know how long it's been there. so far they found no other body parts in the area. >> i got some texts from neighbors. yeah. >> reporter: does it worry you at all? >> oh, yeah, because i live up here. >> reporter: word spread quickly among people who live in this part of the mountains. deputies escorted residents past the road block, a drive they've

taken countless times without problem until today. >> sad i drove past someone every day, everyone has ç right to be put to rest when they're dead. >> reporter: for the sheriff's department, a possible clue to any number of cases involving a missing person. in los gatos, lilian kim, abc 7 news. a wildfire broke outs out of h hollister this afternoon. calfire reports the fire burned about 200 acres. it does not threaten any buildings. 125 firefighters are on the scene. taking a live look outside now from our abc 7 roof camera. if you loved today, you're going to love tomorrow. the heat is hanging on in the accuweather forecast. here's meteorologist drew tuma in tonight for sandhya patel. >> not feeling like fall out there. temperatures above normal by 15 degrees.

obviously we have a single man becoming a foster parent and then having these children which were all i'm assuming boys that were in his home. >> elliot remains in jail this evening. palo alto police arrested this man for lewd behavior in a park. joseph harold is accused of exposing himself thursday afternoon at a park. a woman tipped off police. they say no children were in the park at the type. new at 11:00, time is running out tonight for foster kids in the north bay. their longtime unique group home is slated to close in a week and the future is unknown. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard found everyone is hoping for a miracle. >> reporter: young residents of the sonoma county children's village are sending out an sos, these handwritten signs a cry for help. the village must close its doors next week. >> it'sok devastating to me because this was my home.

>> reporter: 18-year-old alyssa has lived at the village for five years alongside her five brothers and sisters. the unique facility was founded to do that, keep foster kids together. we agreed not to show her face. >> i got through with my siblings, we got here all together which is a big deal. it couldn't have happened any other place. >> reporter: state funding to run the village has vanished. governor brown just signed legislation to close most group homes in california getting kids into family-based foster homes the new focus. >> this is their home. >> reporter: last weekend the director broke the news to 16 kids still living here. there was pizza and bounce houses but nothing could soften the blow. >> a boy said, that means nobody cares for me, i might as well just go live under a bridge. >> reporter: 94% of kids who called the village home have graduated high school and went on to college. >> nobody knows where they're going to go. >> reporter: kids will soon be placed into new foster homes, 50

employees at the village could be laid off. till then, kids are writing these letters to celebrities like taylor swift, even president obama, looking for donations and help to save their home. in santa rosa, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. take a look at a rare shark sighting off alcatraz island, a great white attacking a seal. a tourist caught it on camera this past weekend. organizers of the dolphin's club escape from alcatraz triathlon were considering canceling the event this saturday because of the sighting but they'll monitor the water and the race will go on. they'll be jumping in near the spot where the video was shot. >> it was scary. yeah. to see a big pool of blood in the water, definitely scary. something that you think about while you're out there. >> marine biologists say there has never been a shark sighting this far into the bay. still ahead here on abc 7 news at 11:00, developing news. an entire building collapses with firefighters inside. plus, the woman taking live

bay, and all the bay area. this is abc 7 news. >> new at 11:00, there's been a tragedy in the midwest. two firefighters died while battling this massive apartment building fire in kansas city, missouri. two others were hurt. part of a building collapsed on the firefighters moments after they rescued two people from the inferno. fire chief says they were trying to get out of the building after it had been weakened. oversharing on social media landed a florida woman in jail. >> i am -- >> 23-year-old whitney biel said she was drunk as she drove home live streaming it over the periscope app. she said she hoped she didn't get a dui as she hit a street sign. people watching the live stream called 911. police used landmarks in the background to catch up with her. >> she was out of it. it was obvious by watching that live streaming videofá how bad e

things are going on. first, two areas of high pressure these are acting kind of like the heat pump and are not loomoving the next 24 hours. the heat moves on one more day. low pressure to our south is going to move into southern california on wednesday. starts to bring clouds and also cooler temperatures across the entire state on thursday. so future weather shows you by wednesday into thursday, southern california has a slight chance of showers. for us it's really going o help to break our heatwave. then we'll try a cold front on future weather friday into saturday. a front moves in off the coast and onto land. itweakens, loses its moisture. there's a slight chance of a shower as the front weakens by saturday afternoon. overnight tonight, plenty of stars out there. going to be warm. mid 50s to low 60s across the region. that's going to set the stage for another warm day. so highs for tuesday, starting in the south bay with our microclimate, san jose up to 90. 94 morgan hill. 92 cupertino. sunnyvale up to 90 degrees.
