couple of minutes has come to a complete standstill. as you leave pleasanton hill up to highway 24. as you can see we still have flashing lights and some emergency crews and c.h.p. and ambulance and fire department all are now returning to the scene. they are stuck in heavy traffic. we hear the big rig was traveling along northbound 680 at highway 24 when suddenly something exploded and that affected track on the southbound side causing crashes involving six or seven other vehicles with lanes blocked northbound and southbound. we hear we have fluids that are leaking from the big rig possibly fuel. we do have a haz-mat situation, as well, so the clean up will be underway when they cleared the accident. with the fire burning fully engulfed we have brush catching on fire off side of the freeway and now c.h.p. as we look to the south, c.h.p. is trying to do a

breaking news. >> a big rig caught fire on 680 near the highway 24 area and this is causing a huge mess of the commute in both directions. the big rig is burning. now to leyla with the latest. >> good morning, everyone, as we look from sky 7 you can see this is the big rig that caught fire. it looks like it is a possible dirt gravel carrier blocking all lanes. the fire caught the pressure on fire, too, and all lanes northbound coming up to highway 24 are blocked. southbound traffic is blocked but for one lane. you can see the other vehicles are involved because when the big rig spread it sent the debris flying into the

debris flying into the southbound lane causing a multiple vehicle crash with many agencies on the scene, fire, maps, c.h.p., assessing the situation. there are no injuries involved on the southbound side. we are waiting to hear if anyone was injured in the big-rig truck. it veered all the way to the other side of the freeway and that sparked a brushfire. as we pan up from sky 7 you can see if both directions, northbound and southbound, traffic is at a standstill. again, all lanes northbound and southbound are closed south of highway 24. what does it mean for folks try ing to make it up to highway 24 safety? i suggest taking highway 4 to i-80, you will be stuck in this and surface streets not going to be good enough. right now we have a few cars that are trickling law and this is going to be an active scene

sparked on the brush so this is a haz-mat situation and they do not want the drivers drying through the scene while they are cleaning up. on the far left-hand side you can see how it veers across the road and it looks like there is a smear of possible chemicals, dirt, early. you can see how the fire -- they are trying to put it out. we can see the white smoke. that is usually if. but as sky 7 moves an we can see the active flames and trying to put a last water on this but at the moment we have a possibility of haz-mat situation so they going to take all precautions and make sure no one drags the chemicals through to other par of the freeway. >> you can see the police are stopping the traffic below the lanes that are affected. hail will continue following hail will continue following this and we will, so, we will be

>> in sky 7 looking toward northbound and southbound 680, south of highway 24, a big rig shows a dirt hauler suddenly exploded. it went from the far last hand lane all the way over to the right-hand side. it burst interest flames. it caught the brush on fire.

the fire department is pouring water on it until a few minutes ago we saw flames coming from the area. to the far right of the scene that is main street. it is shut down. fire crews are attacking the fire from the street. it is not an alternate if you want to avoid northbound 80. all lanes are shut down northbound. on the southbound side, these vehicles were involved because weapon the big rig exploded it sent debris flying into the southbound lane. that took the drivers by surprise. they ended up crashing and each other and the center divider. the c.h.p. is lighting up with the flashlights the debris, a wide debris field. it is shutting down all lanes on the southbound side. that is causing tremendous traffic both in the northbound and southbound direction as we see from walnut creek camera and it is at a could meet standstill and any cars going through southbound side are getting on to highway 24 and that is still

we took this exit and we gave up. we were moving a little bit. these people are not moving at all. we were clocking about 5 miles per hour here and there and then we would stop as we try to move over to make the exit a lot of people had the same idea so the exit is clogged as people try to get 50 of the highway. that is what you should try to do or avoid this altogether. it was slow going and it took us a while to get from danville to here. we did not make it to the accident scene. we wanted to be able to show you this picture of what you would be dealing with if you have not left the house. here is the advantage, you can get a look at what these people are dealing with and make the decision on what to do. it could be a work from home day at walnut creek. >> people do not have to be on the road if they can stay home,

do it. sky 7 is taking a wider picture so you can see northbound and southbound traffic blocked with one lake in the southbound direction and the northbound direction is where we have the big rig that caused the traffic resting ahead and the vehicles in the southbound direction were hit by flying debris and the debris field is wide and the fire looks like it is out. it was an explosion that caused the big rig to swing all the way over to the right-hand side with the fair department on main street running parallel to 680 on the northbound side trying to get the fire from that side so traffic is shut down to main street. people were thing of using that as an administration not. you can. best pet is to work from home if you can.

>> look like we had a big rig traveling on northbound 680 near highway 24. we are trying to figure out why the big rig lost control and crashed and a concrete center divider wall. it breached through the wall. in the process it sent up concrete debris cascading into both lanes causing self more traffic chicagos northbound and southbound side. we have a report of at least one injury a driver is complaining glass is to her eyes and she is having trouble breathing. we have medical crews en route to her and this is going to be tie up for some time. >> officer, we have literally 15 seconds but i want did find out if the brushfires are all out and number two what did your traffic plan with regard to the cars that are stuck? >> the traffic plan is to get
