minute now. actually the next half-hour. we are much cooler compared to where we were yesterday at this time. 10 degrees cooler in napa and some areas five to four degrees cooler compared to yesterday at this time. temperatures will be lightly below normal this afternoon, as we look for the live view from emeryville, out toward the bay. you see some clear skies over parts of the bay area. and this afternoon look for inland numbers to reach the upper 70s along the coast. in the 60s, and near 70 around the bay. i'll tell you about a warmup with the accuweather seven-day forecast coming up. >> frances, thank you. dealing news this morning. we are waiting for the condition on two men who were rescued from the ocean in santa cruz last night after one of them drove their car off the wharf. crews pulled the car out of the water after the man was rescued. the victims crashed through a

four-foot fence. the victims were under water nearly 20 minutes. they were rushed to the hospital. no information has been released on the men. it's not clear what caused the driver to crash. one person is dead after a head-on car crash on the stanford campus. it happened just after 7:00 last night just east of campus drive. the driver who was killed was in the nissan. investigators say that car crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a volkswagen. the driver of the volkswagen is in critical condition this morning. the cause is under investigation.. that. the father of one of the three teenagers who died in a street racing crash last week in san jose says he hopes more people will come forward with information on what led to his son's death. >> last night johan santana the ramos joined a crowd of people

at the crash to mourn the loss of the teenagers, including his son. 15-year-old anthony ramos is the one in the middle of your screen. jayle. n and oscar were also killed. the three died when police say the stolen honda they were in spun out of control, slamming into a tree. police believe they were street racing. a fourth teenager survived, but suffers serious injuries. police are still looking for the driver of a second car involved. some residents in san francisco's castro district are upset with a sewage project they say could damage important and meaningful pieces of art. alyssa harrington has more. >> the designed blocks of concrete were designed to be walked on, but not for this.

>> this is concrete. >> power tools and heavy machinery. a sewage project has left this one of playwright tennessee williams a mess. it's dirty, surrounded by trash and wood and possibly damaged. >> i think it's a slap in the face for the artist that put this together. >> the real issue here is one of respect. >> david perry is the founder and chairman of castro as honor walk. he said it was there to pay tribute to the lgbt community and concerns for their equality. >> what we are concerned about is someone doing construction on a local business, and we feel maybe hasn't given one. honorees the respect they heard. it's one thing for someone to walk on tennessee williams and learn about him and another thing that's more than the normal wear and tear. >> a supervisor reached out. they are investigating what happened.

>> if someone was doing work and damaged one of these blocks, that contractor, in my view, needs to be financially responsible for repairing the damage. >> each one costs $5,000. perry wants to remind all construction crews these plaques are not just a piece of sidewalk. in san francisco, abc7 news. sacramento police have released new images showing the two men suspected the stabbing train hero spencer stone. police describe the suspects as asian males. stone was stabbed three times while protecting a friend from a sacramento bar back on october 8th. he was released from the hospital last week. you will remember stone and two others stopped a terrorism attack on a train in france in august. crews are work to go fix massive sinkhole in union city.

there was video posted of the work going on last night. it's grown from 40 feet to 35 feet since it was first discovered last wednesday near new haven street. repair crews are trying to shore up the size of the sinkhole and fix damaged water and sewer pipes. they don't expect to be done until sometime this week. thank goodness an antioch teacher's aide saw something wrong and took action. she's being haled has a hero after rescuing girl from an accused kidnapper. she spotted one of her former students from the elementary school on friday sitting with a truck with a middle-aged man. the girl looked scared so she got out of her car and started asking questions. i said, sweetheart, is that your dad?

and she told me no, he's my friend. i said no, he's not, he's not your friend. i put my car in front of his car, i blocked him, and i told her you get out of the car right now. >> that's when she blocked the truck with her car. that girl was not hurt. sandra called police and they have arrested this man, 51-year-old santiago salazar, for kidnapping. they said salazar did not know that girl. this little white house will move to a new location in oakland later this morning. ucsf children's hospital offered it for free as long as the new owner covered most of the moving costs. right now that house sits on land owned by the hospital, but plans call for a new building on that site. a couple will put the house on their property about a block away. the move will cost them $200,000. the house is scheduled to be moved starting about right now, anytime between 6:00 and 8:00 this morning. teenagers who lost everything in the valley fire in lake county won't have to miss their homecoming. yesterday business owner nancy rosenblum delivered more than 150 donated dresses, along with shoes, purses and jewelry to

middletown high school. she organized a donation drive to help 50 girls. the response was overwhelming. with the biggest donation coming from a former oakland raider. nancy sent us this video of the happy teenagers. the dance has now been moved to november 7th because of the fire. progress is being made in southern california to clean up the massive mudslides from last week. state route 58 connecting central california to las vegas remains closed. the mud is as thick as five feet in some spots. but there's more work to do and more rain is on the way. awc news reporter has the latest on the cleanup effort. >> crews clearing roads in mud-locked roads in southern california are racing against

the clock and mother nature. saturday morning construction equipment arriving to aid in the dig-out about another round of weather hits. >> they are expecting more rain this afternoon. if that happens, then what we are going to do is probably clear all the personnel that are working in the area just in case there's more mudslides. >> it's pretty scary to see the water on both sides and moving very quickly and rising very quickly. i was thinking about how i was going to go out the sunroof to get on top of the vehicle. >> thousands of cars and trucks remain stranded after thursday's massive mudslides. >> this is why i cannot get across to get home. >> it shows how brutally fast the onslaught of mud and water swept across freeways and neighborhoods. >> i've never seen this before. >> as road crews worked, families and businesses are cleaning out. leaving mud-caked belongings out to trash. the road still covered and it's hard it see the curb. >> we had a couple firefighters stopping to give us some sandbags. >> we were probably in three inches of mud. we've been cleaning off and pressure washing.

>> two men were seriously hurt and suffered shark attacks in hawaii. the first one was in o'ahu that left the man without his left leg. the second man was in a minor incident with the shark. it did not say if he was actually bitten. he's taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. these are the sixth and seventh shark attacks this year. officials say all have happened in murky water. it's a common story, rising represents and threats of eviction in san francisco. only this time the renter is

fighting pack in an unusual way. he is protesting outside the deyoung museum where his landlord's wife works. tiffany will sop spoke with both sides and has the story. >> families are visiting the deyoung museum are greeted with this. >> what do we want? >> stop eviction! >> when do we want it? >> now! a local artist, david, for the past 34 years lived on the top floor of this three-story building in the triangle. >> this is a dark room where i can do black and white photography. >> he pace $735 a month for the two-bedroom unit. i put my love into it. i put myself into it. you can look at any spot, whether it's a flaw or something nice, you see a the bit of me in it. now he's getting evicted. >> it's devastating. >> just one floor below you find a very different story. the family purchased the building in 2013. ground floor units are the grandparents, middle floor for them, top floor for brother. but only the brother can't move in because he refuses to move out. even after the family offered him an $80,000 buyout. >> the lawyer said it's the most generous offer he's seen in 25 years.

expired in the area, but, wow, just watch out for the heavy rain if you are traveling through fresno. live view from sfo shows you some clear skies and some low clouds. san francisco 60 degrees, oakland 62. mountain view 67. san jose at 58 degrees. and morgan hill at 59. half moon bay at 61. if you check out the golden gate bridge camera, you will notice that there isn't fog there this morning. and that's what helps keep numbers low this parts of the north bay. it's been cool out there in santa rosa and napa in the low 50s where we've had thick fog reported as well. novato 54. fairfield 56. and concord at 57 and livermore at 59 degrees. this time we are looking out toward the financial area from the exploratorium camera. you see some of the patchy low clouds make their way in from the coast. we are starting off with some

low clouds this morning but this arm more sunshine especially inland. temperatures on the cool side, though. it will feel like fall and then warmer air arrives on tuesday. we will be above average, and then dry into next weekend. so here's what's going on. the area of low pressure that brought us trace amounts of rain, this will continue to provide rain through parts of central california. now what's going to happen over the next few days is we have high pressure building and as it builds over the next few days and midweek work he will see an off flow and with the lapped breeze temperatures will be coming up. right now we have some cloud cover for the morning and then we will see partly cloudy conditions throughout the average. notice the areas of green. slight, slight chance of a spotty shower in the northernmost areas of napa county. and then by monday we will be seeing more sunshine, allowing for the warmer trend to really kick in for tuesday.

here's a hook at your highs today. in the south bay, 72 in san jose. near 70 in palo alto. mountain view. but only 64 for half moon bay pumpkin festival. you will definitely need to dress in layers there. 66 downtown san francisco. low 70s through petaluma, sonoma and nap it paw and near 70 in many east bay locations. 71 in oakland. warmer antioch, 77. pleasanton at 74 degrees. san francisco is below our average at 69 today, but then warm tuesday. we had in the 70s once again. you can see the trend also in the accuweather seven-day forecast for inland areas. they will be reaching upper 80s by midweek, even along the coast near 70 degrees. so enjoy the fall weather because it's going to feel closer to summer by midweek. and then unfortunately just dry, dry, dry all into next weekend.

the safety of its patrons very seriously. a 75-year-old chess instructor is being credited with saying a group of children from a knife-wielding man. army veteran james vernon was coping a chess game at a public library in illinois when he said the man barged into the building, threatening to kill everyone. vernon sprang into action. at first he tried talking the man out of hurting anyone. >> settle down, relax a little bit. i'll listen to you while these kids get out of the room. >> vernon succeeded at getting the kids out of the library, but the 19-year-old man then lunged at him, cutting his left hand. vernon used his other arm to disarm the man and held him until the police arrived. the army vet will require surgery to repair from severed arteries and tendons.

thunderstorms from east of yosemite, all the way down south. east of fresno, down toward here. so there is a possibility of this flash flooding there. you just saw another lightning strike that just popped up. pea-size hale even possible with winds up to 30 miles per hour. here, though, we will be calmer at sfo. some low clouds right now causing some flight arrival delays. no departure delays reported yet. currently 60 trees in san francisco. oakland at 62. mountain view, san jose and morgan hill all in the upper 50s right now and half moon bay at 61 degrees. so if you look at the golden gate bridge camera, you will notice there really is no fog. that allows numbers to really come down in parts of the north bay where fog has been pretty sick in santa rosa and napa. less than a mile. it's currently 52 in santa rosa,

napa 50. some mid-to upper 50s through fairfield, con court and in livermore right now. we are looking from the exploratorium out toward the financial district u see in blue skies out there and some of the thin, low clouds that will linger throughout the afternoon at the coast. but for the most part you will see some sunshine inland. it will feel like tall this around. temperatures lower than average. warmer air arrives on tuesday and things will heat up midweek and then stay dry. here's the area of low pressure that brought us trace amounts of rainfall and heavy rainfalls through parts of southern california. it will continue to provide a chance of a spotty shower in some of the northern areas of napa county. but again, mainly in the higher elevations. and also for us today look for temperatures to be pretty comfortable in the south bay. morgan hill at 74. santa cruz 70.

new this morning, a groom got cold feet and called off his wedding. but the bride-to-be's wedding still turned it into a night she would never forget. instead of canceling the $35,000
