>> good afternoon, everybody. a drive ere hits a chp officer head-on. >> abc 7 news reporter live with the story. >> reporter: well, the suspect's banged up car remains here on the scene, although it is about to be towed away. this incident began at 12:45 this aver noon. the chp officer has not yet been identified. we're told he's in the hospital recovering from non-life threatening injuries. hard to believe when you look at this head-on collision.

authorities say they've pulled over the blue accord during a traffic stop. and when the officer began walking toward the car, the driver took off. >> a short pursuit was initiated. one of our motorcycle units were involved in it. came through a couple surface streets over here and then came down to the way here. the accord went down the street. >> you can see where the pursuit ended on sury way. that's a dead-end street. one of the suspects tossed two handguns out the window. as the driver did a u-turn and headed toward the chp cruiser. >> as the patrol car came to a stop, the honda accord accelerated and struck the patrol car in the front. >> the driver got out and ran before being caught hours after the incident, the suspect's car with yellow police tape remained blocking the street. a reminder of a wild afternoon

that damaged property, but no serious injuries for those involved. in brentwood, carolyn tyler, abc 7 news. >> no information today on yesterday's deadly crash. four of the five women killed were bay area women. now, we spoke with hong's husband who says his wife was a beautiful woman who devoted her life to helping others. >> i kissed her when she was leaving very early with her friends. i have nice time. i saw peace and contentment in her face. which i didn't see her long time. but maybe i take her when she's happiest and most content. >> the women were all friend who frequently got together for

bible study. they were involved in a head-on crash on highway 120. one member, 53-year-old ya yan su yang survived and is currently in critical condition. >> a 24-year-old san francisco dog trader has not been seen in a week. josh flew to london last week for a job interview and has vanished. he was supposed to fly home last thursday but never made that flight. the young man was last seen leaving his hotel the day of his return flight. his family is now in london searching for their boy. >> three transients accused of killing a canadian tourist and a yoga teacher back in court this morning. the arraignments were delayed again. now, the trio is accused of shooting death of golden gate park last month and then killing steve carter a few days later.

the murder suspects were arrested in oregon while driver carter's car. >> new details for police looking for a car like this one in asking for some help in catching some violent robbery suspects. >> abc 7 news reporter spoke with one concerned victim. >> i don't feel safe, you know. >> he has been on edge ever since he was robbed at gunpoint monday morning at his san leandro home. >> they want a shootout? let's go. >> he had just dropped his kid off at a royal high school on monday and then returned to his side gate. he says the men got spooked when they looked inside at his wife, who was calling police. >> and they told me, get down on the floor. >> san leandro police say this case has a lot in common with another robbery that happened two weeks earlier.

>> they're both asian men in their late 50s. they've both been robbed almost immediately returning home after they've taken their kids to a home in san lorenzo. >> they're working with a theory that the homes and the residents' pat eterns have been heavily watched. he is now telling all of his neighbors to be on the look-out. >> just be aware because we are not safe anymore. >> police say these attacks appear to be well-executed. they don't look like amateurs and they are worried that these guys will strike again. >> thank you, amy. new details on the chigella outbreak linked to a mexican restaurant in san jose. it sickened nearly 200 people. test results are in from the food handlerers. health officials say only one worker tested positive for chigella.

deactivated used red domains originating in asia. >> the only account holders who could not access the web site had e-mail addresses associated with three chinese e-mail service providers. >> attorney jean christianson says e-mail addresses with asian-sounding names were also deact vated. sephora denies the claims. the company says sephora would never engage in any form of discrimination with respect to its clients and looks forward to full exoneration. the attorney is not allowed to share details about mitigation. it could include some sort of relief for customers whose acounts were deact vated. >> at least 15 people were hurt when the left engine of their plane burst into flames in ft. lauderdale, florida. the plane was taxing for takeoff

supply for more than a million people here in the bay area. and it is parched. >> reporter: this is alarming. there should be 20 of feet of water above me, millions of gallons of water around me. but there's not. as you take a look high above, you won't notice we're at the 28% capacity. and it's showing you a unique perspective of the parched landscape where that fresh drinking water should be stored. now, there is hope that the winter ahead will be wetter than normal. but it's unlikely this view is going to change any time soon.

>> reporter: take a look at this. the water level is so low, the boat launch looks more like a driveway. we were able to drive to the bottom where the lake is now a stream. more than 70% of california is in extreme drought, with more than half the state in exceptional drought. but there is some hope. things might improve. and it comes in the form of el nino. el nino is what happens when the ocean temperatures rise near the equator. >> it offers the opportunity for potentially greater-than-average precipitation. >> the national weather service predicts there's a 95% chance an el nino event will happen. but it doesn't necessarily mean our drought will end.

the largest was a 3.6. geologists say the swarm may continue for several more weeks. they also add it's not necessarily an indication that a larger earthquake is coming. >> navigation has crunched the numbers and determined the three most dangerous intersections in san francisco. topping the list is that massive intersection at 12th street. that web of 17 lanes of traffic and seven crosswalks have had 92 crashes between 2005 and 2012. also making the list for the intersection at octavia and highway 101. >> the new apple tv goes on sale tomorrow. the tech giant will begin delivering pre-models. reports say it will be available in most stores, as well. the new set top box includes dozens of apps and starts at 149

here are the headlines we approach 4:30. health officials announced today only one food handler has tested positive for shigella. but they don't believe that person was the source of the outbreak, rather contracted the disease from eating there. the exact source remains a mystery. the outbreak has sickened nearly 200 people and the investigation will continue.

talking to some of the other homeowners live on that list. there's a warning out about armed robbers who were targeting the asian community. a victim tells abc 7 news he's been on edge since getting robbed at gunpoint. that is making the city the first in the nation with no new hiv infections. live in the news room now with details on the getting to zero plan. >> well, larry, you have to remember that in the '80s and '90s, this is something that no one thought could be possible. now, at the height of the epidemic, there were 130,000 new cases a year in the country and many of those were dying.

>> ending aids has long been a hope of many in the district of san francisco. among them, homer hobe who has lived with hiv for 21 years. >> it was just sad to walk through the streets. people will be here one day and gone the next. >> in 2013, there were just over 350 new cases. now, the city is on its way to zeal low possibly by 2020. that's five years from now. >> zero new infections, zero preventble deaths among people living with hiv and zero discrimination against hiv. >> here's how the city agencies plan to accomplish that. right now, 600 clients on the antihiv drug. second, begin treating patients on the day they are diagnosed.
