it's saturday, october 31st. good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. i will start with a quick look at the halloween forecast. here is meteorologist lisa argen tracking live doppler 7 hd. >> we are starting out with very mild temperatures. it's been a little cool in the north bay with upper 40s but things will be changing. today another day of above average warmth and by 5:00 we are well into the 70s for san ramone and concord, 70 in oakland, 69 richmond and throughout the evening hours still we will seets temperature in the 60s. so very mild, the fog and low clouds will push along the peninsula and across the bay and that will bring the leading edge of some big changes arriving for the second half of your weekend.

so we're talking rain and a winter storm watch in the sierra nevada. more than 200 people aboard a russian passenger plane have died after the aircraft crashed today. investigators are looking into how that plane went down. relatives of passengers were at the airport in st. petersburg as they awaited news of the crash. officials say air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft 23 minutes after takeoff. 224 people were on the plane, many of them russians returning from vacation. russian president vladimir putin has declared an official day of mourning for tomorrow to honor the victims. back at home a pack of aggressive raccoons on the attack in san francisco. an out of town visitor had to undergo rabies treatment and people tell us the city is not doing enough to deal with the problem. >> and they just came out one

after the other. >> reporter: just as brennan owe sullivan showed us where the attack happened two raccoons popped out of the same spot, owe sullivan says this was a completely different story. >> reporter: how many raccoons do you think attacked you? >> in the group there were at least 12, 15 in the group, but there was four vicious big raccoons that were actually doing the biting. >> reporter: his wife who didn't want to go on camera is very shaken up and she did show up where doctors had to give her painful rabies treatments, one of the dogs they were with is having trouble walking and the other gave a bigger scare. >> we thought he was killed. they were dragging him away. >> reporter: two months ago one street away a similar attack on a different couple led them to the hospital with precautionary rabies treatments. some ask if the city is doing

enough. >> i tried to get ahold of animal control and they promise that had they would do a training out here and we were looking at a site to do the training and i heard heard back from them. >> reporter: for now there doesn't seem to be a solution. in san francisco, reggie a key, abc 7 news. developing news out of concord this morning. police are look for a suspect after they say he shot two men last night. one of those men died, the other is in the hospital and is expected to recover. the shooting happened just after 11:00 near lacy lane and monument boulevard. police say an unidentified hispanic man approached the two men in the parking lot and shot them. investigators have not said what led up to the shooting. san francisco police are on the lookout for a gunman who shot two people last night, it happened at fill more and turk at around 9:00 p.m. just a few feet away from the northern police station. this photo shows the block closed off. one of the victims is a minor, the other is 19 years old and

has life-threatening injuries. in san jose the state has pulled the liquor license from a restaurant after the killing of this man. last saturday 34-year-old michael arsega a real estate agent was shot and killed outside lou's restaurant. last month a shooting injured two other people outside the restaurant. alcohol beverage control says it pulled the license yesterday because management allowed disorderly conditions. also in san jose, police say a man was stabbed many times outside his car last night with his five-year-old child in the back street. 21-year-old travis painter is accused of stabbing but says he was just defending himself. as abc 7 news reporter sergio quintana explains, this all started with road rage. >> reporter: it happened on this cul-de-sac just after 7:00 p.m. in a neighborhood that looks like a safe place for trick-or-treaters, not somewhere you would expect a street brawl. >> there were actually police

with shotguns drawn out and they were going around the neighborhood. >> reporter: investigators say 21-year-old travis painter was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after he stabbed a man several times in front of his house. the man who was stabbed had his five-year-old son in the back seat, had the child watched the whole thing. painter has been released on bond. he did talk with our media partner the san jose mercury news. travis painter says the man cut him off on mcably road and followed him to his neighborhood. he says that man then attacked him in his own front yard so he pulled a pocket knife to defend himself. he told the mercury news he had no idea a child was in the other vehicle. it bee bud ld me that he freed proceeded to do what he did when he had his kid on the car. the guy was on my property attacking me. police say painter's parents stopped the fight and called 911. officers did not name the

36-year-old man who was stabbed and sent to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. in san jose, sergio quintana, abc 7 news. hundreds of wind turbines in the altamonte pass are set to shut down permanently tomorrow. the company at monday winds notified the u.s. fish and wildlife service that their turbines would be turned off november 1st because of the impact it's having on birds. the department says the turbines have been associated with the injury or death of at least 67 golden eagles. it is illegal to kill an eagle. boelters are being warned to stay away from the bay bridge next weekend, that's when caltrans will implode the largest pier that once held the old eastern span of the bridge. chp boats will be enforcing a 1500 foot perimeter around the implosion area, a series of underwater explosions lasting six seconds long will bring the pier down. dozens of artistes in san francisco put their work on display only to cover it all up. abc 7 news was in the south of market neighborhood for last night's whiteout event.
