broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> and this is something we vpped seen this awhile. green on live doppler 7hd. a slow-moving storm is hitting as we speak and moving south into the east bay and san francisco. >> the umbrellas are out tonight. abc7 news was in the north beach district where the rain is steady and the roads are wet. >> let's look at i-80 and berkly. berkeley. drivers can expect a sloppy morning commute. thank you for joining us. >> thank you for joining us. drew has been closely tracking the november storm. what are we seeing right now, drew? >> this is a sight for sore eyes. a live look from our exploratorium showing rain drops on the lens at this hour. it is painting an active picture right now.

we will press in a couple locations around san francisco and the marina and embarcadero and even the bay view district. we will slide to the south just a bit along the peninsula. millbrae and burlingame and san bruno. wet weather and even 82. we'll slide to the east as well and into the east bay where we notice the pops of yellow around a ridge top road and skyline boulevard just to the east of oakland. moderate shower activity is happening currently. we'll move inland as well. you are seeing the light shower activity and walnut creek at 680. there are light showers falling at this hour and we will move into the north bay where the shower activity has turned spotty in nature. there is green on the screen and so isolated light showers are there as well. future weather shows you the showers will intensity and monday at 2:00 a.m. this is sticking around for the morning rush. we will time out the rest of your monday with the accu-weather seven-day forecast in a few minutes.

>> the green is good to see. there are winter storm warnings in the high sierra. rain is turning to snow there. this is video from earlier. steady rain fell through much of the day. a foot of snow is expected in the highest mountains by tomorrow night. snow levels are expected to drop to 5,000 feet in the morning. >> it is really refreshing. i hope that this year we will finally get a big dump of snow so we can get some water. >> we all hope that. most of the rain and snow is expected to fall overnight. >> at 4:30, mike nicco and leyla will be tracking the rain and traffic in the morning commute. a community is reeling. two teenage girls killed in a horrific crash and another is in the hospital. >> all three of these young people were close friends. they were students at college park high school in pleasant hill. that's where abc7 news reporter lilian kim joins us with new details. lilian, this is horrible.

>> it is going to take a longtime for the school to recover from this which is why the district is providing grief counselors starting tomorrow. >> the girl in the center of the photo was behind the wheel. she survived, but her trends did not. marley seen on the left and lauren seen on the right died instantly. it happened just before 3:00 a.m. the chp says it doesn't appear drugs or alcohol were involved. officers believe the driver fell asleep before she slammed into a tree. >> i heard she was supposed to be home, but i guess they were coming from somewhere. >> she says lauren was going to turn 16 in a couple weeks. the two were close, texted each other often. >> she was the nicest person. she was so loving and so full of life.

it sucks she isn't here anymore. >> tonight teenagers converged on christ the king catholic church. others knew them well and others not so much, but they say it affects them all. >> we would like to come together in prayer to place them in god's hands. >> all three girls attended high school in college high school. they will be there to help students cope. >> it is terrible. >> i have known some of these people for a longtime. not being able to talk to them anymore is really sad. >> flowers and a cross now mark the spot of the crash site. a sad reminder of where two young lives came to an abrupt end. lilian kim, abc7 news. >> drivers faced delays for several hours after a deadly accident along interstate 880. a vehicle hit and killed a person that was walking on a highway after 6:00 this evening. the highway patrol closed all of the southbound lanes.

one of those lanes reopened at 9:00 tonight. investigators are still trying to figure out why the victim was on the freeway. >> and police are looking for an arsonist. investigators searched for clues last night. witnesses told police they saw someone throw an object at that house. and then that person ran off. $200,000 in damage was done and fortunately no one was inside the home at the time. new details about dangerous raccoons in san francisco. abc7 news has learned the city is taking action after the latest attack. we showed you friday night a san francisco visitor undergoing painful rabies treatments. she told me a dozen raccoons attacked her and her husband as they walked dogs in the rich mobbed -- richmond district. they are checking the area near 41st and anza where our camera saw the raccoons. he says he is looking into the

issue and posting tips to avoid raccoons now that two attacks have happened in the same area in two months. the wenter -- winter spare the air starts tonight. they will crackdown on wood burning stoves and fireplaces in the bay area. >> the start of the spare the air season means there are tighter rules on wood burning stoves and fireplaces. the big change this year is residents can no longer get an exemption for the whole season. now homeowners and residents have to update older stoves and fireplaces within 30 days. >> if you had no natural gas service in your home and your wood stove and fireplace was your sole source of heat you can still use that. however, you would be required to register with the district and reared to have an epa certified device. >> we are experiencing are warm fall so most people are not stocking up on wood yet, but when the first chill comes it is a good idea to replace

old fireplaces or stoves. that isn't always easy nor is it cheap so they will soon have money available to help. >> the board of directors approved a $3 million grant program to help people change out and convert their fireplaces or their older stoves to the newer and cleaner technology. >> the plan to call spare the air alert ahead of problem days which could mean more no burn days. they plan to sell the property without the wood burning equipment will now be required to notify potential buyers. violators face a $100 fine for the first citation. abc7 news. starting tomorrow palo alto's hewlett-packard will operate as two separate independent companies. hewlett-packard will deal in commercial computers and software and tech services. each business will trade separately on the new york

will call police. >> police in orange county arrested the passenger after this attack on an uber driver. the driver eventually fought back, hitting his attacker with pepper spray. he asked his passengers to leave the car claiming the man was drunk and uncooperative on friday night. >> it was 8:00 at night and i was just about to call it a night. i didn't think something like this would happen this early in the night. i stopped driving these 2:00 a.m. shifts a longtime ago for this very reason. i get going and he is fading in and out of consciousness. he is tumbling around the backseat and refusing to put around -- put on his seatbelt. >> he faces assault and public intoxication charges. the driver now says he is looking for another job because feels unsafe driving

for uber. a man went on a shooting rampage at l.a.x. and one tsa agent was killed and another came face-to-face. >> he said he few he was the killer. we have this story from our sister station in l.a. >> there is a shooting in term that will three. >> a-lot of different emotions and confusion. >> as tony goes up the escalator the events of two years ago play in his head. terminal three at l.a.x. was crowded like it is on this day when suddenly gunfire erupts. >> that's when i first heard the shots and i hit the ground. >> it was friday, november 1st, 2013 and investigators allege he entered terminal three armed with a sim my automatic weapon and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. officials say he went in to target tsa agents.

according to officials he walked up to the first check point and opens fire and shooting and killing officer hernandez at p oi nt blank range. >> i thought there was a training i wasn't aware of. my mind went to disbelief. this couldn't possibly happen at l.a.x. >> the suspect went up the stairs and that's where tony was located. he was in section four. >> he saw the suspect coming right at him and staired into his eyes -- stared into his eyes and knew it was the gunman. >> what was your feeling? >> he was calm. >> in the terminal there was shear panic. passengers running in every direction. >> you see people pass out on their feet. you can see people with kids and people jumping over x rays. it was unbelievable. >> he says his first thought was to help people get out of the gunman's path when he was hit. he is in excruciating pain and

he has to get out because the gunman is firing at him. >> it was life or death. i knew after the first shot -- i knew if i went down i wouldn't be here right now. it was fight or flight. i knew if i went down i wouldn't be here today. >> how are you doing? >> today he is back at his post in l.a.x. in the months after the shooting he took a position at tsa headquarters on the east coast. he decided to return and says he is inspired by his former co-worker and friend who died in the line of duty. >> he was a good person, a special person. it chokes me up when i think about it. >> there is a memorial in the tsa lounge. a reminder to everyone about the risks they face every single day. >> make sure we are checking people. >> wait until he goes inside. >> reporting from lax, abc7

a cold front is bringing about widespread hour activity. you can see the moisture set up across the heart of the bay area. we will press in on street level and along the peninsula light rain showers from millbrae and toward belmont and even sfo getting light rain showers. light scattered rain showers in emeryville and oakland. 580 is wet in this area. castro valley and hayward. dry in union city, but likely we will see wet weather move in. inland walnut creek and likely seeing light rain right now. the theme is wet roadways out there for the majority of the region. you are seeing sporadic activity. the south bay is wondering we haven't seen thig just yet. it will move in as the cold front sinks to the south.

the forecast calls for the rain spreading from the north to the south. the heaviest will occur as we are sleeping and then we will have the scattered showers. the temperatures are in the upper 50s to mid60s and we will hold here overnight. what we are tracking and here is the cold front. there is an area of low pressure in the pacific northwest. these two are joining forces and that's why we are seeing the widespread wet weather. future weather has you covered at 2:00 in the morning. the pops of yellow are heavier downpours developing. it will continue through 3:00 as well. showers working through the majority of the region. we'll stop at 6:00 in the morning. many spots are wet from san francisco, oakland to the south and east and that includes san jose. we will be dealing with shower activity as you drive to work and school. it is tapering, but there is a chance of a lingering shower.

we have not seen numbers like this for six months. generally a quarter to half an of this -- half an inch of rain. we could see higher than half an inch of rain. we have a winter weather advisory for the higher elevations. a foot of snow is possible above 8500 feet. four to seven inches are possible over the sierra passes. that could close down some roadways and so take note of that. good news there. the rain is here and it will intensity. the temperatures are staying in the 50s and then tomorrow we will have the rain first thing early on. and then afternoon sunshine. you will see numbers pretty cool for november. the accu-weather seven-day forecast, the morning rain we'll track it for you, otherwise sunshine returns and meteorologist mike nicco will track that for you at 4:30 a.m. what a sight to see tonight. >> love it. love it, love it. thank you, drew. >> still to come on abc7 news at 11:00, dark and colorful

rain in the accu-weather forecast. >> grief counselors will be at college park high school at pleasant hill tomorrow. they will help kids cope with the news of two classmates killed in a car crash. the girl in the center of the photo is behind the wheel and in the hospital. investigators say she fell asleep while driving on franklin canyon road in martinez around 3:00 this morning and hit a tree. representatives for most of the presidential candidates had a summit meeting of sorts. the question is what to do about debate moderators they consider hostile. this follows the widely criticized debate last week. candice gibson has more from washington, d.c. >> a post halloween pow-wow at this virginia hotel. >> it was spurred by the trick questions. >> is this a comic book version of a presidential

candidate. nine days and counting until the next debate. candice gibson, abc news, new york. >> happening now, the victims of a russian plane crash are being flown home. they say the plane broke into pieces in the air at high altitude on saturday. the debris field stretches for five miles. it happened 23 minutes after takeoff. the plane was headed to st. petersburg. all 224 people on board died. the plane's black boxes have been recovered and will provide crucial answers. >> with an in flight break up something caused that. it was a bomb of some sort. >> isis has claimed responsibility, but intelligence officials say they don't have the weapons to shoot down a plane flying that high. investigate others will also be looking into the possibility of a fire on board orca rogues which could have -- or corrosion which could have caused failure on

country and the bay area this is abc7 news. a michigan couple says they were devastated when their wedding photographer was a no show on their big day. fortunately another photographer heard the news and wanted to do something special. she recreated the newlyweds' wedding day and took the pictures for free. it was a wedding do over. they are from the staged ceremony and bride, groom, guests, flowers and the cake. they were eccstatic to have the photos. a young innovator came up with his own plan to fix his left happened and know showing
