stabbed and the suspect shot to death by police. the university is in the san joquin valley. laura? >> well, officials here just wrapped up a press conference. they did confirm that the suspected was a student here living on campus. he's from california. but they are not yet confirming his identity because they say next of kin have not been notified. they also confirmed that the f.b.i. is here assisting in this investigation. >> they heard a commotion in the classroom across the hallway. >> a construction worker who is working on the campus when he heard what he thought was a fight and ran into the classroom. >> the guy came out of the classroom and lunged at him going down on his back. he got stabbed but he was able to kick the guy in the head.

>> somebody came in the classroom saying we all had to leave. >> students knew something was wrong when they were told to leave in the middle of class. >> i just looked around the corner and i just saw someone laying on the floor. all the police were blocking everythings off. >> the stabbing started inside the cobb building near the library and moved outside. some students told us they saw the suspect. he confirms he was a current student. >> he had a sweatshirt and the hoodie was up. >> the suspect carried a black backpack. >> the chance ror has a message for parents. >> the person who caused this event will no longer be able to

cause an event like this in the future. the children are safe here. >> now, the students live on campus have been allowed to stay. but we're told there will be no classes tomorrow. they will resume on friday and, again, at this point, four injured, none of them life threatening. we're told two of them, students. >> okay, thanks very much. sacramento police have made an arrest in the attack of air force hero spencer stone. stone was stabbed three times while protecting a friend. stone and two other friends stopped a terrorist attack in late august. now, take a good look at this video.

in oakland tonight, police who live near a school are fighting an increase to student enrollment. the school doesn't want to wait that long. abc 7 news reporter joins us in city hall with a plan and the push back. >> there is the man to get into the school whose tuition ranges from 23,000 to nearly 34,o $000 a year. still, the planning commission here at city hall will listen to both neighbors and to those affiliated with the school. and it may be a very long night.

>> the long lines of cars waiting for students outside the school in oakland resembles the morning traffic jam on the bay bridge. >> really, we can't afford more cars. located in this canyon for more than a century. they own the land. slowly but surely, the school has grown. and, in 2006, city hall gave them permission to increase enrollment. there is demand for this private cool and they koent want to wait until increased enrollment. that's it. that's all they want to do. and that's not good. it's not good for them. it's not good for the parents and the children.
