abc 78 n new starts right now. breaking news, construction and detours mean slow going in san francisco right now. and an incident on the b.a.r.t. track is making a bad situation even worse. >> let's go right to the civic center plaza for details. how are the delays going? >> reporter: it might be easing up here shortly, but for the last couple of hour, b.a.r.t. workers have been working on getting a train that broke town in the tube between 16th street station and civic center station. let's show you some video of the civic street station that we were just town thedown there. the train seems to have broken down in that tube about two hours ago. one of the problems is that workers had trouble uncoupling the cars to make them move easier. they were considering using a large piece of equipment that would able to push or pull the entire train through the tube, but in the last two minutes, the

train finally made it to the 16th street station while b.a.r.t. workers were trying to figure out how to get the train through the to divert all trains heading to mill brey and sfo into the opposite direction. so all trains were having to share one track and that's basically what slowed down the entire system for a good part of the afternoon. coming back here live, i can tell you that it looks like the trains are moving at a regular pace through the station and they were pretty full, at least the four or five that we saw in the last few minutes. >> sergio, thanks for the update. happening now, more travel trouble as construction work for the central subway is leading to a detour and that is creating some major traffic delays near at&t park. abc 7 news was at fourth and kin which is now closed as

construction crews work to rin it to the new subway center. the through and green arrows outline the detour route. the work also affects public transportation. e and embarcadero line not running. buses have replaced them.closure expected to last through next saturday november 14. and abc 7 news was in san mateo where construction crews are demolishing a century old railroad bridge. it's coming down and will be replaced with newer seismically safe structure. work has closed tilton street and led to single tracking on cal train through the construction site. it should be done monday morning. and demolition of an old bay bridge pier has been delayed pie one week. it was scheduled for today, but it was postponed to next saturday because caltrans rejected the explosives that were supposed to be used because of the way they were packaged. a blue ribbon commission is

seek truth about a jail inmate's murder and says that it may have to quit before ever finding that truth. they learned the county secretly hired a team private consultants to do the same job. let's go to san jose for details. >> reporter: is this a case of dueling investigations, one public, one private. all centered on the death of an in-meat with a history of mental illness. but the commission which met here today wonders if their efforts will be worth it. >> i was concerns about how this commission can proceed. >> reporter: that's how the former judge opened the first meeting. 25 volunteers from all walks with a common goal. investigate jails in santa clara county, following the death of inmate michael tyree last august. three santa clara deputies were charged with his murder, but the judge was shocked to learn the county hired a private consultant to do the very same job in secret.

camera, it is a gorgeous saturday afternoon. so plan out the next couple of hours for you, if you're headed out on the town, lots of sunshine by 5:00, the sun goes town right around 5:05. but the later evening hours by 9:00 and 11:00, you'll start to see the clouds on the increase add to that the cold front that will bring us the light showers. so sunday morning by 3:00, we're starting to see some light showers move onshore. and by 6:00, the light showers start to move into portions of san francisco along the peninsula, even the inland east bay. but the heavy showers are still offshore. i'll let he know what it could mean with for your monday morning commute ahead. and a man in san mateo started a two-alarm fire at his apartment while cooking this afternoon. abc 7 news was on elm street right after people were evacuated. the fire started around 12:30 in a kitchen on the first floor. it spread to the two apartments above it. the man tried to put it out on his own. he had to end up calling 911 for

help. paramedics treated him for smoke inhalation. his apartment is destroyed. in answer ytioch, smoke ands poured out of a garage. firefighters had to pull back after part of the roof collapsed. the man who lives here had just got back from iraq. >> had some military gear that he wanted. we were able to recover that out of his bedroom. >> and that gear includes his uniform. as you can see it has some smoke and water damage now. no one hurt in the fire. developing news right now, chp is hoping you saw a deadly one car crash in oakland early this morning. they're looking for witnesses. they shut down lanes near edwards avenue exit. the driver was a young man in his 20s. he died in this crash. officers say he was going nearly 100 miles per hour when he lost control of the honda odyssey minivan. a local college football game got pretty emotional today.

and then heavier showers for the monday morning commute. right now we have clear skies, but just to our north, we're tracking a cold front slowly making its way on shore in northern california that will bring us light showers for sunday. but out there we go, it is gorgeous out there. clear skies and really comfortable conditions. the forecast calls for the scattered light showers to arrive on sunday first thing in the morning. a second wave will move in monday morning and those will likely be heavier and the chance yes is there that on monday, we could see another isolated thunderstorm chance and any thunderstorm once again could contain in small hail. out there right now, 60s across the board. 64 in oakland. 66 san carlos. 67 free month. 66 napa and san francisco at 62. the wider picture, you can see the cold front very nicely, that is the first wave of moisture on sunday. behind it, this little circulation in the atmosphere

that's the area of lop aw press and that will bring us the heavier steadier showers on monday. let's go hour by hour for you on future weather. 4:00 tomorrow morning, some light showers beginning to move on shore starting in the north bay. by 6:00, 7:00 in the morning, i think anyone really fair game for an isolated light shower as the cold front moves through. would you midday, it looks like the wet weather is confined to the south and eastern portion of the viewing area. we'll keep the chance of an isolated light shower in the forecast through sunday evening. you do notice the green. and then we'll watch the area of low pressure sink to the south monday morning and that's when we include the chance of a thundershower. it will have a bit more energy associated with it. some yellows indicating stronger showers moving through and look at the time stamp, it wants to move through right in the heart of the monday morning rush pie 7:00 in the morning. by the mid-morning and early afternoon hours, the high pressure moves to the east and we begin the drying out process.

so in terms of rainfall, the first wave tomorrow is generally light. then by monday morning, some steadier showers move through. so we're looking at most areas picking up between a tenth and about half an inch of rainfall. we do have snow in the forecast. that snow level tomorrow right around 6500 feet. by monday, it will drop to 4500 feet. and look at this, kirkwood, over a foot of fresh powder. south lake take show, 6 inches and donner about 8 inches of snow. so remember, carry your chanins if you're head willh willed up . we'll drop into the 40s and 50s across the bay area and then isolated showers on sunday. generally light in nature. sos 7 day forecast shows you tomorrow it's really just light showers moving through monday morning, that's when we expect the steadier heavier showers to move in and also the chance of a thundershower. but after this system, it's nothing but sunshine, dry

season. that was supposed to begin on november 15. san francisco's annual veterans day parade is set for tomorrow, but the parade is usually held on market street and this year organizers decided to move to fisher mmanfisherman try to get a bigger crowd. more than 1,000 veterans are expected. the parade begins at 11:00. just about a half hour from now, thousands of people will walk in the east bay to benefit the leukemia and lymphoma societies. lawyer laura anthony kick it off. the funds go to treatments for a.s. last year the walks raised more than $18 million. just ahead, some star wars secrets, possibly revealed in a new sneak peek of the upcoming film.
