>> reporter: you're right. shane and jamie-telling a chilling story. they spend part of the friday terror attacks barricaded in a restaurant and then ran through at the streets trying to get back to their hotel. >> we definitely feared for our life. >> shane and his wife, jamie, are relieved to be back home but can't help but feeling guilty. >> feels almost selfish to be here, and not be able to mourn it with people who fully understand the terror going on. >> they were spend ago two-week dream honeyman in france which ended in a night of terror. >> shooting into restaurants and because we were so close to the area and not knowing if the terror was done. >> they were having dinner with two friends two blocks airplane from the concert hall, the scene of a massacre. unbelievably, their friends had tickets to the eagles of death

metal concert but deciderred at the last minute to cancel. >> so glad they did. because who knows what would have happened. >> the couple took the picture as cafe owners told patrons to stay calm. >> they said we're on lockdown and closed the curtains, locked the doors. >> people were upset visibly, and emotionally just -- you can see the tears. maybe they knew somebody at the theater or at the soccer stadium. >> three hours later they left the restaurant to try to get week in hotel. shane was fearful they wouldn't make it. >> the fight or flight theory. if need to protect myself and my wife. >> people running, there were cops everywhere. >> three hours later they made it back to hotel and set off for the airport the next morning, where they found massive crowds and chaos. >> we didn't think we were going to get home. >> the couple realizes now how much danger they were in.

>> our hearts out to other people who weren't so lucky, and who were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. >> a newly wed couple, grateful to be home. >> here the latest. there's an international manhunt for sallah abdeslam, a french national born in belgium. french police questioned him hours after the attack but let him good they believe he is one of three brothers involved. french fighter jet attacked isis targets in syria today. military officials said 20 bombs hid a command center, training camp, recruitment center, and munitions depot. people are in mourning across the world, including near san francisco. sergio quintana is live at city hall where dozens honored the lives lost today. >> reporter: there are an estimated 15,000 french citizens living in the bay area, and today many of them came together for an event here on the steps of san francisco city hall.

it was mostly quiet and emotional event. >> reporter: a teacher who is here on a field trip with 32 french high school students, held the crowd in one rendition the french national anthem. those students were visiting death valley friday when the heard about the attacks in paris. they were supposed to be touring san francisco today but came those event when their tour guide told them about it. they travel back to france tomorrow and are not sure what to expect chip they arrive. >> they tell us the atmosphere is very weird, very strange so we are happy to see our families again, but we are a bit scared for our future. >> reporter: a few hundred people were here. the french consul general addressed the crowd and pledged to be unafraid in the face of

and pulled out of the grounds. he high winds ripped the shingles off a church roof and damaged homes no reports of injuries. in the bay area, there's wind advisory in effect through 10:00 p.m. gusts and strong winds have ripped apart trees and taken down some limbs. lilian kim is live in san francisco with a look at the damage. >> reporter: we're on union street near octavia. this where is a tree came crashing down this afternoon, alarming workers and pedestrians. officers shut down the entire clock, giving fire crews room to cut the tree in pieces. it caused damage to the one car it fell on top of but the car was unoccupied and no reports of injuries. witnesses say it was windy at the time the tree fell. plenty of shops here, people working and enjoying the sunday afternoon, saw and heard it come down. >> i just turned around because

i heard cracking and it was falling over and then, bam, hit the car, and every swarmed outside. >> it's scary. there's so many huge trees in this neighborhood. not want to park my car anywhere here. >> also wind damage in other parts of the bay area, large tree cracked a fence in the emerald hills area west of redwood city, and millbrae, tree toppled on to sequoia avenue. the wind advisory remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. live in san francisco, abc7 news. >> let head over to meteorologist lisaing aren with more. >> the rain has ended this morning. that was about all we got, anywhere from a quarter to a third of an inch, half in some places, and now the wind. with wind gusts up to 38-miles-an-hour at the airport,

31 in oakland. 30-miles-an-hour wind gusts in san jose. so, we'll look for the winds to continue throughout the next couple off hours. 8:00, it is blustery still from san francisco through san jose, lighter winds towards the del dark but right at 11:00, we'll still see the winds very brisk along the coast, and isn't until tomorrow morning the winds back off. so if you are headed out tonight, grab the jacket. breezy conditions out there. temperatures in the low to mid-50slight now and then dropping into the 40s, allowing for the atmosphere to stay well mixed. >> thank you. in the sierra the conditions are make senator good skiing right now. kirkwood resort showing flurries and snow, powder on the slopes. >> fresh pow-pow. >> they've seen 42-inches of known and then reported another four inches had fallen today.

facebook ceo mark zuckerberg is responding to criticism about the safety check feature. people used it after the attacks to paris to send a notification to facebook friends saying they were okay. critics want to know why it wasn't available for deadly bombings in beirut. suck areberg said facebook just changed is policy on friday. he says that was the first time the feature was used for a human disaster, and not a natural disaster. he says safety check is going to be used more in the future and they'll review it on a case-by-case basis. >> in sacramento an nba player

the bright lights, good visibility from the tower camera, so we have mainly clear skies, a few clouds around tonight and winds continue to be up throughout the evening hours, especially along the coast. so, as you check it out, santa rosa's winds are relatively calm, anywhere from 20 to 30-miles-an-hour are common. you can see the away, up to 38-miles-an-hour, as well as san jose. so it will a breezy and blustery night and winds willing abate tomorrow. so the wind advicery until 10:00, warmest days mid-week, wednesday and thursday. so there's the front. pushes on through. the colder air behind it. high pressure going to build in. we have dry days ahead through next weekend. 42 overnight in fremont. 41, san jose, with the wind, we'll stay kind of mild tonight. winter storm warning for the west slopes and winter weather advisory for the sierra nevada,
