well good monday morning. we begin with the nation on edge as half a world away, european governments are under their highest terror alerts and warnings. >> america is under a terror watch this morning, just three days before thanksgiving. worries over a potential paris copy cat attack have security on edge close to close. our coverage begins right now with abc's stephanie ramos joining us from washington. stephanie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, kendis and reena. there's a heightened sense of vigilance here in the united states. this is fallout from the terror attacks on soft targets overseas. american cities on edge. >> makes you question every loud noise. >> reporter: in atlanta, policing they received a threat about this pro wrestling event over the weekend. americans alert and kaurcautiou more than a week after the paris attacks. even on flights.

abc, was a. police in indianapolis say they have charged 18-year-old larry taylor with murder. he's accused of killing 28-year-old amanda blackburn in a home invasion earlier this month. her body was discovered by her hurd when he returned home from the gym. their 15-month-old son was not injured. he was home at the time. two other persons of interests are in custody. we expect to learn more about this arrest today. the midwest digging out from its first snowstorm of the season. chicago's o' hare airport canceled hundreds of flights the. driving a bit of a challenge, too. this blast of arctic weather headed for the northeast and coastal regions. >> good morning, reena and kennedys. it will be a downright chilly start to the workweek. the trough will bring a

a candle is blamed for this frightening scene on the 50th floor of the john hancock building in downtown chicago. the fire looked worse than it actually was to holiday shoppers down below. it was contained to a single bedroom. five people suffered minor injuries, including, we're told, a police officer. the fire alarm system was claimed not to have worked. gun fire in a new york neighborhood sent 16 people to the hospital. the shooting happened when hundreds of people gathered for an impromptu music video. a megamerger in the

woman trapped inside her car quickly filling with water. it happened north of seattle last week when place say this woman drove around this road closed sign. the street flooded and her car was pulled into the icy river. locked inside this sinking vehicle for nearly 45 minutes. she called 911 in a panic. >> please help me. my car is full of water. >> is is your head out of the water? >> my head is out of the water. but it's not going to be too long. >> amazingly, emergency crews rushed in with a backhoe just in time. the woman was cold but is reportedly okay. she could face a $430 fine for ignoring that road closed sign. >> she had a smile on her face. i guess that's the least you can do. a premature baby is finally home in utah after a very long and strange trip. haiden morgan was born three months early while his family was on a cruise. of the caribbean. the ship was 14 hours from the nearest port. haiden only weighed about a pound. doctors weren't sure he would live.

[ inaudible ] >> we the work on sue's mike. now the news. firefighters are watching for hotspots battle the raging fire at an apartment building two dozen people are now out of their homes. our reporter is at dwight and telegraph. >> businesses are on the bottom floor of the building and people living above so multiuse business and a lot of property and people for the fires to save here. they are still here watching over the building. no more hotspots. this is a very busy area at telegraph and dwight. the business has been a fixture here since the 1920's. everyone is okay. they all got out okay.

there was an elderly disabled man rescued. there is a well-known herb store on the bottom floor with an employee here. he called the owner when the fire starts. >> we were open. she called and said there was black smoke coming from an apartment, coming in the back of our business and we had windows and vents in. we came up. >> 3 people were displaced by the fire. firefighters say it appears it started at the top of the building. that was helpful for them because usually fires like to make their way up. it started up there. they have figured out the area where it started but it did not destroy the hole building but a lot of damage inside. the 30 people are displaced. fires do not know what started it and are looking into that. no one was hurt. >> thats,
