scream. he is accused of killing a 27-year-old, ramos was working on a peace mural. investigators say it was sparked by an argument after holloway made a move on ramos' canvas. >> he was taking pictures of the mural. >> reporter: oakland officials say holloway was tracked to his mother's house, he's charged with several street crimes, including an attempted robbery earlier in the morning ramos was killed and one robbery in which a tv crew camera were taken. investigators say this surveillance photo after the murder helped lead to the arrest. the mayor expressed condolences to the family. an incredible, beautiful,

brave family that is enduring so much grief. >> reporter: as for holloway's family and friends, they left the courtroom in anger, shattering a glass case in the holway. according to documents he admits shooting but says it was an accident. highs due back in court november 30th. now, to today's storm. drought, wind, and rain proved to be too much for this 300 year old oak. the tree crashed down, tearing up the edge of this house. and that is the sound of a down pour. the storm brought rain to the bay area. >> it happened during a king tide. the high tide sent water onto the san francisco embarcadero. the coast guard warns it's bringing dangerous rip currents to some beaches. and king tides made for

treacherous driving along highway 1. the storm hit just as the tide reached its peak. the flood in the roadway. the chp posted off access as a precaution. >> we do have live team coverage with snow in the sierra. >> let's begin with spencer christian. >> you can see there is not much rainfall occurring at the moment. a batch of showers moving down into marin county. and winter storm warning for much of the sierra until noon, tomorrow, most locations received a tenth of an inch up to almost three tenths in hayward. and there is more scattered showers moving into our

direction. getting into later evening we'll see pockets of showers moving into the bay area and should be over by tomorrow. the thanksgiving forecast will be coming up later. chris nguyen continues our coverage in morgan hill. chris? >> reporter: that problem came in the form of a giant oak tree. if you take a look, you can see damage done to the right side of the house. in downtown morgan hill, deb jensen thought an earthquake had struck. >> i noticed tree branchs coming into the living room. >> reporter: that came from a heritage oak tree, part had fallen onto the section of her house. >> we'd just been watering a little bit, trying to take care of it. it was just the time, i guess. >> they moved in nearly three

decades ago, partly because of a tree, which is more than 300 years old. >> we have a looming hazard of the tree falling once. it's under stress. >> reporter: just months ago, a branch broke off the same tree and fell on a fence. >> an arborist said the tree is stressed but the more cutting you do, the worse it would be for the tree. >> reporter: police say this serves as a wake up call. >> we want people to make sure their gutters are clean. and maybe check to see if it's dry or rotting. >> reporter: the power has been turned off as they clean up the home. >> my husband says these things can be fixed. >> reporter: family and friends are relieved no one was hurt.

now, parents are getting help from a labor union. >> reporter: et a very confusioning time for sharon and alex and their four kids. a letter from the community child care counsel says the center is operating at a large deficit due to low enrollment. however, parents say the time is too short to find other facilities. the low cost center enabled parents to work and kids to learn. >> they're comfortable with us. i've been here eight years so they can better themselves and getting the better job, going to school.. and improving their family lives and right now, it's making it hard for them. >> reporter: she believes a successful campaign to unionize is behind the closure and local 521 is failing an unfair labor practices complaint. the child care council is closed this week and we were unable to

impact coastal communities in central and northern california as well as the state economy. a paper problem in solano county has been resolved. the county recorder announced it's received bank note paper and resumed issuing birth, death, and marriage certificates. we told you about a paper shortage in september when a company that printed the paper went out of business. the recorder's office expects to re-sox the backlog within two weeks time. there was a moving contributit for a san francisco giants legend, willie mays. he was presented with the presidential medal of freedom. the personal story brought the loudest ovation of the day. >> a few years ago willy rode with me on air force 1. i told him then what i will tell you now. it's because of giants like willy that someone like me could

10:00 or so. through san francisco, we'll see that moving south ward and eastward and clearing out tomorrow morning. cold air will follow that passage of the showers. speaking of cold air, in the sierra, there will be more snow, maybe more inches during overnight hours as snow levels drop down to 2500 feet. about 1 to 2 inches over the grapevine. speaking of cold, next few mornings are going to be very cold. low temperatures around freezing mark thursday morning, friday morning means we're going to have a cold thanksgiving morning and this night, a couple showers, inland areas will be dry, we think, and cold. highs under mainly dry

. a 7-year-old texas boy who donated piggy bank money to a vandalized mosque was rewarded. he was saving money in the form of pennies to buy an ipad. the story got the attention of international human rights lawyer who mailed an ipad to jack yesterday. you can see jack is very happy. he says he was touched by jack's kindness and the mosque says the $20 is worth $20 million to them. very nice. students in a san francisco school celebrated thanksgiving with a twist.

man accused of killing a muralist. the gun used to shoot that man had been stolen from a federal agent. the 20-year-old made his first court appearance today. he began to curse and scream as the judge read charges against him and was removed from the court after that outburst. he was tracked to his mother's house in stockton and arrested on friday. the man he's accused of killing was painting a community mural at the i-580 overpass when shot to death almost two months ago. police say the shooter was eyeing a camera ramos had. he was also accused in a series of robberies over two months. more breaking news. this, out of chicago, protestors are rallying following release of a video showing the deadly shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer.

this is a live look at the group there. the leaders are appealing for calm, expecting outrage when police saw the dash cam video. the officer shot and killed him in october of last year. police say mcdonald refused orders to drop a knife. the officer continued to shoot 16 times and two rounds shot mcdonald in the back. prosecutors charged the officer with first degree murder. the mastermind behind the attacks in paris had been planning a second wave of suicide bombings before being killed by police. he was killed days before he can carry them out. belgian officials charged another suspect and an international arrest warrant has

been issued for this person and the president says the u.s. and france will go after isis, insisting the u.s. will not go in fear. russian president putin called the downing of a war plane was a shot in the back. turkey says the plane repeatedly violated turkey's air space and ignored ten warnings to leave. putin said his plane was in syria, only and warns there will be serious consequences for the incident. nato convened a emergency meeting to discuss the situation. the state department issued a new travel alert translating into longer lines, especially during the busy thanksgiving travel period. some sfo passengers escaped the delays created by this morning's raid. >> no delays, no time. >> once inside, travellers met

up with additional layers of security and a busy holiday period. >> we recommend 90 minutes for demeftic flights and two hours for international departures. >> reporter: the state department issued a world wide travel alert, warning isis, al qaeda and boko haram continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions. >> heightened vigilance, awareness, if you see something, say something. that is good advice. >> reporter: the paris attacks and mid air explosion of a russian plane over egypt forced the stapt department to extend this alert until february 24th. investigators believe an airport worker may have put a bomb on the russian plane, killing everyone on board. here in the u.s., the transportation security administration has been looking into way to address threats.

instant a moment there is a car in my lane and i knew there is nothing i can do. >> it would have been worse. the impact left shannon with road rash and broken bones. california public records act requests to the chp and state department of parks and recreation confirm how big of a problem it is. >> a car had taken the turn too sharp and was in my lane. >> between 2010 and 2014 there were 116 collisions. >> with 70% of accidents around blind curves. >> i was over my handle bars. >> collision reports back it up. vehicles crashed a single yellow line into another lane where the driver did not have a clear view. the cyclists pay the price. >> i needed surgery and it took

six months to get full range of motion. >> reporter: 25% of the crashes were bikes versus cars. and sometimes it's a cyclist speeding. they tell me another major call is having to swerve to avoid cars that swerved into their lane. >> i have a near miss around every third ride. >> reporter: they launched a group called mount diblo cyclists to attack the problem. they wanted to find out how their mountain compares to a similar situation in marin, mount tamalpais. the results were stunning. mount tam had just 28 collisions in those four years, mount diablo had 116. the guys believe they know why. >> one would be install solid double yellow lines.

>> mount tam has double yellows on blind curves. makes sense. but in mount diablo, all have broken yellow lines, indicating it's okay to pass. i took the issue to the top. >> to me it just seems obvious you have to have a double yellow on a blind curve. >> it does, but sometimes there are things that we don't know. that is why we're leaving it to experts. >> reporter: she says she needs a $60,000 study to figure out what to do but the state senator who contains mount diblo says time's up. >> they need to act more quickly wex need to double stripe those lines around the curves right away. >> reporter: take a look at this. the i team obtained a report from 1991 that found over 90% of the vehicles crossed over the center line to negotiate the curve. identifying conflicts between sight seeing, and bicycling
