new york-based musician. >> it was a beautiful scene. >> in early october, diane worked as an actress on the set of the music video. valuable camera equipment attracted thieves. >> i heard a scream and then i heard somebody say he has a gun. >> diane ran towards telegraph avenue. >> i actually thought i was going to get shot in the back when i was running. >> oakland police say marquise holloway, the murder suspect accused in the killing of muralist antonio ramos is accused in this case, too. >> i really hope that it's the same guy. >> detectives are connecting holloway to five robberies total. all happened within a week's time. >> my landlord came out front of the house. he yelled at the guy, the guy turned around add shot and the

bullet was by me and my landl d landlord. >> the witness did not want to be identified, but say he's relieved there's been an arrest. >> i'm happy. people like that shouldn't be -- i don't know. i'm a firm believer in justice will be served. >> i saw the gunman and he actually looked me straight in the face. and i thought i was going to get shot again. holloway add mits to shooting ramos. but says it was an accident. multiple cases involving photographers and their equipment appears too be no accident. >> berkley police are investigating a shooting on interstate 80. the first in reporting that shooting last night. police say the car was heading east on i-80 when a bullet hit the passenger side shattering the window. >> they actually thought it was a traffic collision. so they pulled to the side of the road.

this is the third shooting on interstate 80 this month. police say the other two victims were targeted. >> well, as you know, the marine headlands atrack sight seers from all over the woorld. but their cars and luggage are attracting thieves, too. national park service officials say there's been an increase in car break ins. the area is popular with hikers and tourists especially during the winter holiday season. police advisors to keep their valuables with them whenever possible. >> well, runners won't get souvenir t-shirts this year. that's because they all got stolen. live in golden gate park. will they go on as planned anyway? >> well, hi, dan. the san francisco turkey trot is still scheduled to happen right

here tomorrow morning at 9:00. ef enthough the t-shirts are missing, so is the signage. >> this normally quiet neighborhood is in shock. this photo shows it filled with all kinds of equipment and refreshments for tomorrow's san francisco turkey trot. >> running for 13 years, benefits the track and field program. >> the stolen truck was a big blow given what was inside. almost 2,000 t-shirts worth about $8,000. this is the only t-shirt left

mpx one that was set aside to give to the designer. fortunately, the turkey costume wasn't loaded in the truck yet. despite the ses back, the san francisco turkey trot is still on in golden gate park. >> i've had runners asking if they can do anything, if they can donate any products. one run i recall asked if she could bring out cookies. thank you, martha. >> hoping someone will spot the u-haul truck. >> and hopefully, they will return the truck and maybe contact the police and let them know where the truck is. we would really like to have it back. >> so would 1500 runners. in san francisco, david louis, abc 7 news. >> one of the biggest turkey trot races will take place in the south bay tomorrow. abc 7 news was there in sunnyvale. money raised during the run-walk goes districtly to charities.

organizers expected to donate $1 million in year. it's going to be cold when that race gets underway. tracking the chill and joins us now with more. >> yeah, cheryl, it is going to be cold. winter has arrived early. let's take a look at how cold tomorrow morning. thanksgiving morping starts out 27 degrees in santa rosa. so below freezing there. 31 in fairfield, 33 in livermore. 42 in san francisco. yes, you're going to feel the chill. temperatures already on the chilly side with some upper 40s in fairfield. not tracking rain yet, but there may be more in your holiday weekend forecast or beyond. i'll be back with a complete look at the accuweather seven day forecast. >> the holiday get away rush is on. well underway. it took me a while to get in today.

this is what it looks like along the freeway. look at this glid lock mess. slow goaling, especially in the eastbound direction away from the bay area. those cars on the left, the headlights coming at you. a look along interstate 680, moving a little bit better there. as you can see, e headlights coming at you north, pretty heavy traffic. >> well, in fremont, a man is dead after being hit bid a car. neighbors are pleading for help in slowing down traffic. it happened just south of ice house terrace. abc 7 news reporter chris wynn joins us with details. >> police have since cleared the scene. over the shoulder, some of the debris left from that accident on the sidewalk behind me. they are asking for the community's help in trying to figure out what exactly happened here.

booet of them weren't surprised by today's early morning accident. >> figure out what can happen when you're going that fast in an area like this. >> just before 7:00 this morning, a woman driving a lexus sedan struck a pedestrian while going south in the right-hand lane. police say she cooperated by providing a statement. a transient who police say had a part time job in fremont. he was rushed to a trauma center but later died from his injuries. we don't know at this point whether he was jaywalking or walking in the roadway, we're not sure. we don't know the exact point of impact. >> those familiar with the area say people need to slow down. >> i've seen bicyclists hit. they don't stoplights, they don't stop at stop signs. >> and as the population grows, some say traffic is getting worse and drivers are becoming more aggressive.

>> it's taking, like, half an hour to get from one side of fremont to the other. in fact, police tell us a couple of drivers may have seen the accident happen,but just kept right on driving. >> at least call 9-1-1 and be there to, you know, give evidence as to what happened. the police need to know. >> this is the city's sixth traffic-related fatality of the year. in fremont, chris wynn, abc 7 news. >> san jose's bomb squad blew up a backpack this afternoon. the would-be robber dropped the package outside a wells fargo branch when his attempt went haywire. four students at uc santa cruz are recovering tonight after being attacked and robbed in their dorm room.

it happened tuesday. a student walking near the greyhound bus station. they were forced into the car, drove to one 06 his friends dorms and then punched and robbed three other students there. the victims lost money and cell phone ins the attack. >> in the sierra, there isn't just snow but a lot of optimism. >> for the first time in a long time, the resorts are open. people are skiing and snow boarding and winter looks like winter. we are live in the sierra tonight. >> also ahead, planes trains and automobiles as millionings set off. >> much more than an animated avatar. >> and the most and least-loved cars. find out which vehicles owners would reject or buy again.

. snow lovers, look at this. no chain controls right this second. the drivers needed them for most of the day. once they did get to the area, they are loving it. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony is live tonight. hope you're a little warmer than you were last night. >> yes, cheryl, i am. as you can see, it stopped snowing, at least for now. this storm certainly left is mark throughout the tahoe area. check this out the sierra came more snow. the roads slick. but the skiers very happy.

>> yeah, it's nice and soft. it's cold. >> we found north star open, top to bottom, with some sweet powder in between. >> we have a winter wonderland here. we have 16 fresh inches of snow out there. our snow makers have been going around the clock with the low temperatures. happy guests smile ear-to-ear. it's exciting. >> in short, this isn't just any snow, it's good snow. just the way skiers and borders like it. >> this is light, fluffy snow for november. so it's awesome. >> i am so cold. >> even better, it's just the beginning of the season. >> what are you hoping for this season? >> more snowstorms. el nino. >> now, about 16 inches, the other areas, a little bit more, some less. you can see pretty impressive.

so far this year, and snow making in full force at all of the resorts. thanks to the cold temperatures that are sticking around now that the snow has moved through. laura anthony, abc 7 news. >> it looks so beautiful up there. thanks so much. there was also snow in the bay area. sky 7 hd was over mt. hamilton. a light dusting of fresh powder there. >> well, the warming stroll became a little bit complicated. sky 7 hd spotted these people sloshing through water after a super high tide called a king tide flooded highway 101 again. the king tide through san francisco and barcadero, as well. the king tides are going to continue through the weekend. >> first beavers in martinez, now a river otter in walnut creek.

a few pictures of an otter in the park. we don't know if this was alone or others nearby. other otter sitings are becoming more common in the bay area. >> extra police in uniform in plain clothes into the bay area this holiday weekend. today, as you know, is the busiest day for service. and officials say they don't have any word of an incredible threat but will remain individual lent and ask passengers to do the same. san francisco police will be on alert this holiday weekend. you can expect to see more foot patrols, especially in the shopping area. this is all to prevent robberies. at the white house,president obama reassured the public that they should enjoy their thanksgiving as usual in spite of anxiety about a terrorist attack. >> we have to go about and live our regular lives. enjoy family this holiday and rest assured that our law

enforcement officials are going to be working around the clock to make sure that terrorists aren't able to carry out the plot here. >> president obama said there are no specific terrorist threats tar getting the united states, but the nation remains on high alert. >> apple now owns the company that created the motion capture technology used in the new star wars. its software allows 3 d animated karkters to mimic the facial expressions of actors. singer adelle's latest album is music to the ears of pandora's stockholders. it's jumped as much as 5%. adelle has withheld the album from other streaming media services, but pandora acts more like a radio station, a full stream of 25 can't be found on its sight.

>> new car sales continue to soar, but you'll want to make sure that you're going to be happy. >> yes, a big investment. 7 on your side's michael finney is here. >> it's a good idea. now consumer reports is doing the work for you. it recently surveyed more than 200,000 drivers. you'll see what they liked and didn't like about their cars. >> here is the least-loved car othe 186 in consumer reports latest owner sas faction survey. only 40% said they'd definitely buy a rio again. compare that to the honda fit. the most-liked of all the sub compacts. >> tons of space despite a small interior. >> unbelievable mileage. usually get 40, 43 miles per gallon on the freeway. >> among the mid sized cars, the altima is at the bottom.

they're expecting the possibility of 8:00 a.m. with the possibility of upper 20s to low 30s. look at those temperatures in the upper 20s. if jowl're heading up there, fresh powder to enjoy. san jose, already 48 degrees. beautiful views. it is clear out there. 51 in santa rosa. mid to upper 40s. rain is long gone. we did have snow on mt. hamilton as we showed you earlier in if broadcast. freezing temperatures, cool and sunny days into the weekend. we are looking at a chance of rain next week. here's why we're feeling the chill. a cold system that has nothing to do with el nino.

so we draked with it some arctic air. we are expecting the freezing nights ahead. right on through at least saturday. so far, take a look. tomorrow morning, we can reiterate this at the top of the show. 27 santa rosa, 25 in san raphael. 36 san jose, 33 livermore. in case you still have to run out to get last-minute stuff to prepare your holiday meal, make sure you have your boots, some wool socks, that will help. friday morning, looking a temperatures near freezing to just 3w06 above, as you'll notice. saturday morning, dropping back down to the upper 20s for our coldest inland valleys. and sundays, temperatures start to come up a little bit. still cold. we'll have to wait until monday morning to get rid of that chill. tomorrow afternoon, sunny, 56

this year, honest and abe were pardoned. the two were from farms in california. >> abc 7 news was at the salvation army as an army of volunteers started carving out thanksgiving turkeys. 3400 meals will be delivered to seniors and to home bound people in the city. well, it's estimated that we each consume -- oh, boy, i hate to say this, more than 4500 calories on the holidays. >> if you eat turkey with yams, stuffing, potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, you are looking at between 1600 and 3,000 calories. >> and the appetizers and the alcohol. that number can jump to at least $3500. and when you snack, that 3500 suddenly makes sense. it's recommended that adult women consume 2,000 calorie also
