the homeless providing a fine meal and everything that goes with it. an incredible gift from a woman who knows what it's like to need a little help. >> here we go. >> it's the kind of thanksgiving meal complete with fine china and white linens and five star service a family might pay 1$10 for. not on this day. this holiday deal for the homeless is being delivered by someone who has been there. >> i was homeless myself 20 years ago. >> reporter: she is the owner of this restaurant. 20 years ago she was homeless, on the streets of italy, pregnant with her son. >> when i see them, my heart filled with happiness. the world needs a lot of love. >> when she came to america 20 years ago, her first job was at a hostess at this very restaurant.

gratitude, even in the fire ravaged county of lake middleton, nearly 600 homes destroyed and nearly 600 people treated put on by volunteers and charitable community members. >> yeah. we're all a close community. everybody's really strong, everybody's really big. they bounce back really good and have a lot of support. >> a total of 44 turkeys are being served tonight with all the fixings. hundreds of runners braved the cold this morning to participate in the annual san francisco turkey trot. this year, unfortunately they didn't have t-shirts or supplies because somebody stole all of them. that did not stop the runners from having a good time. >> reporter: hundreds of runners started their holiday taking part in the san francisco turkey

trot at the polo fieldings in golden gate park. >> we come out and run and can eat whatever we want the rest of the day. >> reporter: you heard the turkey, all about burning the calories and for many continuing a family tradition. >> i have my son enrolled in the turkey trot, exciting, just turned 3 and thought it would be a good time to get out there and start running. >> it went off without a hitch even though organizers have to do without supplies. earlier this morning, someone stole a u-haul with 2,000 t-shirts, snacks and drinks. >> that hasn't stopped racers supporting a good cause. >> reporter: the race benefits the washington and lowell high school s and students volunteer along this course. >> the one thing i remember more than anything else wasn't the swag, it was the little kids there to greet you and show you the right path. >> it saddens me and here, we

will celebrate the fun of thanksgiving. >> reporter: in the spirit of thanksgiving, people are remembering what they are grateful for. >> family. >> reporter: and so much more. in san francisco, i'm janet, abc7 news. >> you may notice more chp officers on the road this thanksgiving weekend, looking for drunk and impaired drivers and those increased patrols will be in effect until sunday night. last year, 45 people died on the road during thanksgiving and four from the bay area. traffic enforcement can reduce deaths by 20%. another beating by two sheriff's deputies. we broke the news and showed you this disturbing video. 29-year-old stan nis petrov was

hit repeatedly. another man said he saw what happened. >> i saw a man not resisting racer. i saw a man getting beat up. the only thing i saw him doing was trying not to get hurt, covering himself up. >> san francisco police are investigating the incident. their report will be completed next week and then forwarded to the district attorney. a brutal robbery in this san francisco square. the man being schaiced by these two men was knocked to the ground and then kicked several times to the face. this happened on the 900 block of stockton street and the father of three will need reconstructive surgery. officers arrested 19-year-old tristan duree and odis doss. >> it's horrible.

19 years old shouldn't be doing that on the streets. should have no reason. if they want a job or to be successful, we can help them as a city. they don't have to turn to violence. >> police said both suspects were out on bond from previous offenses at the time of the attack. a suspected drunken driver struck two 12-year-old boys at the increasing of bay and buchanan earlier this month. they went to the hospital with serious injuries. the san francisco municipal transportation agency turned that intersection into an all ways stop. it had been delayed twice before the boys were hit. for some a toxic algae scare. something was missing from their traditional thanksgiving table. >> it had some people seriously concerned. >> you don't know what will happen with this. it will be interesting.

years making him very popular with relatives around the holid holidays. >> a lot of times people want me to bring crab because i fish it for a living. >> the crab fishing season would be undefinitely delayed because it was found a level of toxic algae bloom. >> they have house payments and bills but luckily i have my gig here. >> reporter: mike is selling cod and rock fish off his small fishing boat. coming here all the way from antigua traditionally buying crab. >> we're a half hour away from here and they're still living when we get home. we have a crab feast. >> reporter: it's customers like her that typically keep this marina restaurant busy. >> we're slow. 90% of people that come here are

they were low enough today for a few records. oakland airport, 35 degrees, new record. moffitt field was 37 degrees. that was a new record for today. you'll notice mid to upper 20s in the north bay valley's yes, it was cold and records are possible again. lake tahoe camera showing you what was on the ground, expecting scattered snow showers if you're headed to lake tahoe and isolated saturday and sunday. look at these temperatures. mountain view, 49 degrees, 51, san jose, already down to 46 degrees. the chill is in the air. beautiful picture. it is clear and getting cool. fae in santa rosa, 43, novato. clearer conditions right now, chilly for the black friday shoppers and chilly the next three mornings and looking at crisp and sunny days through the weekend.
