good morning, it's saelt, november 28th, i'm natasha zouves in for chris nguyen. let's start with a quick look at our chilly temperatures. here is meteorologist lisa argen. >> live doppler 7 hd highlighting the areas that have the frost and freeze warnings. just about another hour for that. temperatures are responding to all the sunshine, it's been a frosty start but we are looking at more 30s and 40s around the bay right now, 48 in half-moon bay, a little wind there, a little wind in napa. look for temperatures to be a little milder. motor jies back into the 50s again, tons of sun tomorrow and almost as nice tomorrow. we're tracking developing news out of colorado this morning. police identified the gunman who shot and killed three people at a planned parenthood yesterday. the gunman is 57-year-old robert lewis dear from north carolina.

scheduled to appear in court on monday. abc news reporter brandi hitt is live in colorado springs. brandy. >> reporter: good morning. what a heart breaking scene and still a very active crime scene this morning. now officers are allowing us to get much closer to this planned parenthood facility. it's just about 100 yards beyond that police tape and those trees back there. officers are now going through that building, trying to find clues that may answer why this suspect would try to kill as many people as possible. >> we have two hits. >> reporter: it was five intense hours, police exchanging gunfire with the man inside this colorado springs planned parenthood facility after the gunman first opened fire in a nearby parking lot. >> he was in front of me and he was aiming at me. and i just hit the gas. >> reporter: witnesses say first responders then became the next

targets, one by one officers were shot and took cover. >> he turned around with a bloody face and go -- went, get out of here, get out of here. >> reporter: as backup arrived at gun battle continued inside the building, more than 100 officers on scene including the fbi. >> we have gunfire into that run through the walls, whatever, we've got to stop this guy. >> reporter: joe want note lean i can't's sister was caught in the building. he spoke to her by phone. >> there were some nice shooting. >> did she see them. >> yeah, she was hiding. >> reporter: two civilians were killed during the shooting spree along with 44-year-old officer garrett swasey, his fellow officers honoring him with a procession this morning. police say the gunman robert dear finally surrounded after suns sunset. >> our officers acted with untold val lor. >> reporter: nine additional victims were also wounded including aussie losano who is

still coming to grips with what happened. >> i felt helpless, that's all. >> reporter: so many of the victims now reflecting on how they were able to survive this shooting rampage. officers could be here for several days. they have not made a direct connection yet between motive and planned parenthood. reporting live here in colorado springs, colorado, brandi hitt, abc news. now back to you. >> thank you so much for that. planned parenthood clinics are on high alert here at home this morning. in the bay area we are not aware of any specific threats being made but caution really is the watch word. police in san francisco say they've been following events in colorado, they are keeping in contact with planned parenthood in the city. >> when in touch with representatives from planned parenthood and we have offered our assistance if they have any security concerns they can communicate those to the police department and we will do our best to address those concerns. san jose police are conducting checks on the city's planned parenthood sites. we called nor cal planned parenthood but they told us they never discuss their security strategy. we want to remind you if you want big story updates as they happen download our abc 7 news

app and enable push alerts. about 40 customers in a lafayette neighborhood are still without water after a wipe burst yesterday afternoon. the street was roaded at reliez station road and olympic building. they shared this photo of the 16-inch cast iron poo i'm that crews are still digging out this morning. the agency estimates water won't be back until at least noon today. alan wong has a look at what was done to cap that leak. >> reporter: the 16-inch water main that broke in lafayette turned reliez station road into a waterfall. >> it was scary at first because it was just coming down so fast and so much. >> reporter: the pipe broke and the road buckled where thousands of gallons of water rushed to the surface carrying rocks and mud through the neighborhood at the bottom of the hill. >> i came home later on and i had to walk in here through basically a flood on the street. >> reporter: city contract crews

quickly built a dam with sandbags to divert the water flow away from the homes. >> we've got everything blocked off right there and down the hill a little bit more, signs out so people know that the road is closed and there's going to be dee tours and stuff. >> reporter: it seemed to have work, the flood cause caused only exterior damage to seven homes. they say they are not sure what caused the break but the pipe that burst was old. >> cast iron pipe, one of our oldest types of pipe, more than 60 years old. it could have been corrosion, it could have just been age. >> reporter: the valves were shut off but the water is expected to flow until the pipes bleed out. meanwhile crews will be digging up the old pipe to replace it and hoping the muddy water doesn't freeze while they're working. in lafayette alan wong abc 7 news. businesses are hoping for big crowds this year, small biz saturday is top trending on twitter right now. here in the bay area oakland mayor libby schaaf lumped plaid

friday to promote local shopping and retailers. the city is offering pre parking every day through december 26th and today they kick off their shop and dine in the 49 an effort to get more people to support small local businesses. many take black friday serious, 100 million people joined the frenzy hoping to take advantage of good deals. malls were packed out there and it was difficult finding a spot at livermore's premium outlets. some shoppers decided to sit and wait even to reach the parking lot. there was also a rush thursday night when stores opened early on thanksgiving, but with all of that chaos isn't it nice to stay home and shop online instead? we know lots of you did. online sales topped $1.7 billion on thursday, that's aup 25% from last year. >> do use caution if you're planning to shop online using your mobile device this holiday season, it could leave you vul nerl. sergio quintana shows us the big

possible drawbacks. >> reporter: the shopping rush is on and a few people told us they will be doing most or all of their holiday shopping online. >> all my shopping will be online. >> reporter: really? >> this is his. >> reporter: but online shopping comes with a few risks, cyber security experts say hackers are pulling out all the stops to try to trick consumers and steal their information. one security firm says they discovered a fake app embedded in an e-mail link of it advertising exclusive sales to android users on amazon.com. >> effectively you're installing a trojan horse on your phone. >> reporter: he says consumers should shop only on mobile apps securely downloaded from google play or apple app store. she sticks to familiar websites. >> i want to go to sites that i know are true and that i probably purchased things from before. >> reporter: unfortunately most online shoppers don't have a secure buying strategy yet. >> i probably should be more concerned and i know it's an issue but i really haven't done

anything to protect myself. >> reporter: this year the national cyber security alliance put together a tip sheet encouraging people to be cyber smart shoppers. one of the warnings be wary of free public wifi hot spots, making purchases on these open wifi sports can leave you vulnerable to hackers and free wifi offered in stores can be used by those stores to track your browsing. in san francisco, sergio quintana, abc 7 news. parents might want to think twice about buying the hello barbie doll, that's because it could allow hackers to spy on your children. mattel's latest model of the popular doll is wifi enabled making it possible for barbie to have a two-way conversation with her owner. those conversations are recorded and stored on servers maintained by toy talk. hackers could gain access to hole low barbie's stored auto foois files and microphone and actually have barbie say what they want. scary stuff. not the barbies i remember.

the money earned funds various boy scout and youth activities throughout the year in the east bay. the lot will have a variety of trees, ornaments and wreaths available until december 23rd. the lot opened just about 20 minutes ago now. three, two, one. >> isn't that gorgeous? abc 7 news was in san jose last night where hundreds of people gathered for the community christmas tree lighting. the park has turned into a winter wonderland known as christmas in the park through the holiday. the 26th annual macy's tree lighting ceremony took place last night in union square, it's a san francisco tradition to celebrate the start of the holiday season. you see it there. sky 7 hd was overhead for the lighting. more than 33,000 led lights and 1100 ornaments decorate that 83-foot tree. jordan sparks was there to perform and there was also a new share package program, gifts will be given to children staying at hospitals during the

holidays. the tree will stay lit of course through the holidays. people must have been bundled up. it was cold yesterday and the cold has stuck around for a long time. >> it has. this would be a good weekend to put the lights up because pleasant in the afternoon but once that sun begins to go down temperatures drop like a look. we have that in store again for this afternoon. it was 36 in walnut creek earlier this morning and santa clara was at 30, saratoga 31 degrees. we are looking at still some veried cold temperatures. the freeze warnings inland, we will do it all again tonight and the frost advisories along the bay shoreline. san francisco is the exception with mid 40s there and look how beautiful. visibility from our emeryville camera where temperatures in spots were in the 30s here, a little upper elevation wind helps some of you stay up but most of you were just as cold or even colder this morning. 43 oakland, 39 mountain view,

san jose 35, morgan hill 35 and san martin was at 28 this morning. half-moon bay wind gusts of over 30 miles an hour this morning so temperatures have stayed in the 40s, now at 48 degrees. that late november sun working on the frost for you this morning, 34 santa rosa, napa has the wind up to 44 degrees not as gusty as yesterday, but still enough to keep you out of the 30s this morning. so it's kind of impressive. napa is pan unusually cool spot, it's usually always cold i should say in that cool value. 43 concord, 34 right now in livermore and the delta has a little wind at 38 degrees. it was the north bay that dropped all the wind for the most part except for napa this morning and that's why santa rosa was so much colder, the delta was colder and we were warmer at the coast, maybe a little warmer for you in hayward and fremont but still cold out there. look at this gorgeous scene from

the sierra nevada where snow pack is quite impressive compared to the past couple of years. so we're working on t mother nature is going to lend a hand later on in the upcoming workweek. freezing cold this morning, tomorrow morning as well. shouldn't be so cold on monday morning. sunny days in between and a chance of rain comes our way. so look at this satellite picture. this is one year ago in the sierra nevada. now this was taken yesterday. very good looking shot with the resorts opening, in fact, an early opening for the season and it's been sunny in the afternoons, in the 20s, but overnight lows have been below zero. very cold there. and this has not changed since, say, thursday. we are looking at temperatures in the mid 50s, 55 in fremont, 56 in san jose, 54 in morgan hill. so how much colder this morning? livermore you are in the 30s tomorrow morning once again. 31, looks like 33 monday morning, by tuesday shouldn't feel that bad in the upper 30s.

lisa and i were just talking, it's time to get out the christmas sweaters for your dogs. it is cold out there. >> maybe delay that walk a little bit, but san francisco right now in the 40s, we are at 44 in the mission, 46 park presidio and right on the ocean with a little bit of a breeze, 45 degrees, elsewhere 51 richmond, 48 belmont, 32 saratoga and santa clara. with all the sunshine we will warm up today, temperatures not moving much, mid 50s for the san francisco, the peninsula about 56 this afternoon, parts of the south bay, santa clara and oakland should see 56 with 57 up in the north bay and livermore and concord 54. we have new details now about a homeless shelter at the national guard armory in walnut creek this winter, it's doors are closed, the guard approved the shelter but other operations

at the venue will prevent the homeless from station there for many of the 90 days. according to our media partner the contra costa times the shelter operator is trying to get permission to move to ee miss cal church. despite all the rain expected this winter one of the bay area's largest reservoirs won't be filling up. officials have found trace falts in the anderson reservoir in morgan hill. state regulators ruled it cannot be filled more than 68%. they say during a major earthquake that dam can release wat water. construction for the project will begin in early 2018. work will not be finished until at least 2021. a major warning for shoppers, federal agents confiscated a lot of high end counterfeit items in

the south bay. earlier this month at the de anza college market they seized more than a half million dollars in fake merchandise. >> reporter: purses, jewelry, sports jerseys, hats and shoes, just a sample of the more than 900 counterfeit items seized on the first saturday in november. the loot is worth $530,000. >> just like the trademark holders we also value our brand integrity and so weigh want to make sure that when folks come to our flea market on our campus that they are getting the products that they are paying for. >> on top of a congratulations getting an inferior product the counterfeit industry also takes away american jobs and can have health and safety repercussions into it's not regulated like other products, we know that cosmetics and perfumes have had toxic and caustic ingredients in them. we know that the wearing apparel doesn't have the same

we had some 20s down around san martin and i bet gilroy as well. north bay 28 in santa rosa, they had wind that made it feel like 23 degrees, right now 34 for you. napa also a north wind brought your temperature into the 30s and 40s so it was not as cold for you in your valley this morning. 39 novato, 38 fairfield, 33 concord, but livermore bottomed out to below freezing. lake tahoe this morning it was below freezing and tahoe valley airport close to about zero. afternoon highs in the 30s so we are looking at freezing cold back in the paris tonight. monday kind of questionable, a few areas could see frosty temperatures, sunny days right on through the next several days then some cloud cover will help modify our overnight lows by early next week and then this rain coming in on thursday looking pretty decent. so we will keep our fingers crossed.
