bernard is live from the east bay where will is a lot of concern about what happened at that sister facility in southern ra kra. >> he likes to call it a dark and tragic day. most centers in the state of california closed early today as a precaution. this, you have the state opened, but most employees took the day off early because they were too scared to work. the center was one of four in the bay area. a nonprofit social agency to provide assistance to people with developmental disabilities. news of the shooting comes as a complete shock to staff who never thought one of their centers would with a target. i worked for this system for many, many years.

. we have breaking news right now in san francisco. a shooting involving a police officer. sky 7 hd is over the scene near 3rd and gillman. and you can see a crowd gathering out where an officer shot a suspect. i'm looking at twitter right now, and apparently, it's on gillman east of third. we don't know all the facts at this point. we see a lot of emergency response crews are there right now. we'll give you any updates here and on twitter. >> in just a few pin its, san

francisco's police commission will debate and then decide the policy of body-worn cameras. the policy is not when to turn on the cameras, but when officers can review the footage themselves. carolyn tyler is live from city hall with the story. >> reporter: the city has $3 million to spend on those body cameras. but before that technology is put into place, they need to adopt a policy that would cover incidents like the shooting you were just talking ab. it's a game changer for san francisco. tonight's debate is whether principle involved should be allowed to review the footage before the report. >> what the officer experiences and feels and believes what is occurring is not going to change. and, of course, the video is not going to change. >> the critics including the

his own mother with a fireplace poker. police say he assaulted her several times and he also threatened to burn and kill her. she managed to get away and call police from a neighbor's home. >> san jose police have released the name tonight of a suspected car thief who tried to out-run them and ended up in a toy store. he's 21-year-old matthew philly paaz who stole an suv on hillsdale avenue. officers fired shots and tried to stop the car. the driver stopped in front of a toys "r" us store. no where you know was hurt.
