clouds to stick around. so we'll call it mostly cloudy. temperatures in a very narrow range. upper 50s to near 60. we'll be dry today and a portion of your sunday looks wet. we'll talk about it and time it out coming up. this morning the fbi is investigating the san bernardino mass shooting as an act of terrorism. the "new york times" is using space on its front page to call for more gun control. this is their first page one editorial since 1920. brandi hitt has more. >> reporter: this is a first look atta tashfeen malik, the brain behind the massacre. malik and her husband syed farook burt bursting into a conference firing 65 rounds, killing 14, most of them farook's colleagues. within moments the 29-year-old mother went on facebook and declared her allegiance to isis.

>> shocking. like why would she do that. >> reporter: soon after malik opened fire on police in pursuit of their suv and died with her husband in the shoot outthat followed. the question now, did she radicalize him. >> this is now a federal terrorism investigation. >> reporter: the fbi says right now the shooters look like self-starters. >> we have no indication that these killers are part of an organized larger group or form part of a cell. >> reporter: federal agents tore apart the couple's home looking for evidence. inside, remnants of what seems like a typical family's life. dirty additions, baby toys, diapers. and the crib of their six month old daughter, now an orphan. >> just seemed like normal ordinary people. >> reporter: but this inventory with dozens of boxes of ammuniti ammunition, 12 pipe bombs also left behind. farook's family warned against a rush to judgment. >> every single muslim leader has come out and said this is not a muslim act. >> reporter: the fbi is combing

through a large volume of electronic evidence including two cellphones the killers tried to destroy to find out who they had been communicating with. brandi hitt, san bernardino, california. remembrances are pouring in about the 14 people killed in the attack. 60-year-old isaac amianos was the older victim. >> traveled all the way here from thousands of miles away for a better life. and someone just took it like that after he belt what we would consider the american dream. >> here is a look at the faces of all 14 victims, they ranged in age from 26 to 60 and came from all works of life. ten worked for san bernardino county in different capacities, one victim, harry bowman, previously worked for a position ta think tank at usc. our coverage on the shootings

continues now on the abc 7 news app. you can signed up for push alerts for the latest updates. back here at home, a freak accident involving a tree killed an east bay teen. it happened last night right >> reporter: it happened right off the australia netrail next . a witness says three teens were sitting on this long branch when another 16-year-old boy jumped up and grabbed on to the end of it. the teens fell off and the branch struck the boy in the head. the witness tells me he gave the boy cpr, but he quickly realized there was no hope because it looked like the boy's neck was badly broke. the victim's parents and other adults were at the park celebrating a birthday, all of them gathered away and wept. >> it was like, oh, wow. i feel very bad for the family and during the holidays and my

prayers go out to them. >> reporter: oakland police say it appears this was all an unfortunate accident. as the boy's body was taken away, his parents were are given a chance to have a moment with their son. they thanked the police and went home in tears. at lake merritt, al lap long, abc 7. police are searching for a man who stole a package and more from a sunnyvale home. he walked up, grabbed the package and went back to his car, but he wasn't done. he hopped bag out and grabbed two oranges from a bush. it happened thursday afternoon. police say it's a reminder to set up delivery times for when you're home and also report suspicious activity in your neighborhood. a huge pile of stolen mail has been recovered stolen from several homes. more than 1,000 pieces were found during a probation search at a fairfield mail, police say

from our east bay hill will s c. you can see clear conditions across the bay bridge. new details in the search of the tour bus of scott weiland. police say they found a small amount of cocaine in the bedroom where he was discovered. he was former lead singer and died on a tour bus. a statement says he died in his sleep. he long struggled with addiction, but earlier this year claimed he had been clean since 2002. weiland was 48. south african police issued a warrant yesterday for the arrest of form her olympian oscar pistorius, this comes after an appeals court changed the conviction for the death of his girlfriend from reckless killing to murder. a new sentencing hearing is expected to take next week. pistorius may apply for bail. the arrest warrant means pistorius may be forced to spend christmas in prison for the second time.

monday marks the 74th anniversary of the attack on pearl harbor and new image of a large u.s. navy sea plane that sank in hawaii waters show a pearl encrusted engine. the wreck helps tell the story of what happened. a dozen survivors returned to the attack this week, they will participate in a remembrance event on monday. tomorrow night in the nation's capital, some of the biggest names of the arts will be recognized during the kennedy center honors. this year's honorees include carole king, george lucas and cicely tyson. they will be seated with president obama and michelle obama at the opera house stage for the star-studded celebration. the gala will air on december 29. we know el nino is already here because we've seen the

ranked one to five. we'll have you prepared with the storm impact scale. so here we go, what this means, level one would be a light storm. half inch of rain or less lasting a few hours. number two, moderate storm of a half inch to an inch of rain, scattered power outages. three, a strong storm with with 1 to 3 inches of rain. and looking at programs widespread hazardous road closure, numerous outages. 4 is major. widespread power outages. and 5 5 is severe with over 3 inches of rain, extreme flooding and power outages. so tomorrow a light system. really only bringing the most significant rain to the north bay. so just trace amounts off of the golden gate.

we'll take you through hour by hour. but right now looking at the radar and satellite being we have high clouds around and that's keeping temperatures in the 40s and 30s this morning. up to the north, the system has been spreading rain from portland to seattle. and with that we will look for this upper level low, a piece of it anyway, to move into the bay area and that will provide our morning rain tomorrow. it won't be a total washout. in fact rain amounts not too impressive, but we want you to be prepared. 49 in san francisco, 42 oakland. mountain view, san jose, mild na numbers out there. 45 half moon bay, emeryville, 38 santa rosa. the sun coming up, it will be pretty gray out there. 37 fairfield. and the atmosphere has dried out. some of the protective valleys feeling cooler than this, 41 in

concord, 38 in livermore. and finally downtown san francisco, we'll deal with the clouds take. and rain overnight tonight, about 4:00 in the morning in the north bay. and it will last just early morning hours. and more chances of rain be looks like a better system, more organized by next thursday. so 10:00 tomorrow -- today i should say, the cloud cover, takes us through the rest of the day and here we are by tonight, the storm well to the north and by 4:00 in the mornings we have some moderate rain. bru look what happens. 7:00 in the morning, you're getting wet east bay and san francisco and peninsula, but further south, unfortunately falling apart. so rainfall amounts not too impressive. over a tenth of an inch in napa.

of each other, there were three total collisions. no other injuries were reported. now to the shooting rampage in southern california. from housewife to killer, we're learning more about the woman who police say pledged allegiance to isis. authorities revealed tashfeen malik posted that pledge on facebook during the shoot outshe carried out with with her husband. as a result, the shooting rampage is being investigated as an agent of terrorism. the fbi is taking over the investigation from the san bernardino police department and the heightened alert following the shooting led to a suspension of all operations at a u.p.s. building in san bernardino last night. someone september a suspicious package addressed to gunman syed farook. the facility was temporarily evacuated as a precaution. and we also have an inside look now at their redlands apartment the couple called home. reggie shows us what is left behind after the fbi wrapped up their investigation.

>> you need to be taken out of office. >> reporter: which were cheers when someone nanddemanded the pe chief be fired. the emotions spilled over in this meeting after the death of mario wood this week by officers. >> this isn't protecting. >> reporter: the chief tried to explain to the crowd the chain of events leading up to the shooting, but he was shouted down. >> when mr. wood advanced toward him will, he fired in defense of himself. >> reporter: mario wood was assess pekt in a stabbing on wednesday. officers later found him holding a 6-inch knife. they told him several times to drop the weapon. nonlethal bean bags were fired. when that failed, multiple officers fired a barrage of bullet, killing wood. all captured on cellphone video. some called it an execution.
