former neighbor of farook. >> syed farook is not available. >> her voice can still be heard on a mobile messaging systems and investigators are looking to see if he left behind twitter messages linking him to a notorious isis recruiter, mohamed hassan, who uses a nickname. the same man who attacked an exhibition in garland, texas. tweeting to his american followerrers then it's time for brothers in the u.s. to do their part. >> it ended in both attackers being killed. >> meanwhile in an online posting they called farook and malik isis sporters. the mother turned murders was the mastermind, leaving her family baffled. >> howry could you do something like this? at least think about your kid.

>> and president obama will address the nation sunday night. he will give ab update on the investigation and outline what the government is doing to keep americans safe. abc news, new york. >> again, the president will address the nation on the attack in san bernardino today at 5:00 this evening our time. he's also expected to discuss the broader threat of terrorism, how it's evolved and how he believes we will defeat it. you can watch president obama live right here on abc7. this morning concord police are looking for a fun -- gunman who shot a person yesterday afternoon. traffic was backed up hours. police saying 911 calls came in about a person in a silver s.u.v. opening fire on another s.u.v. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana was the details. >> concord police arrived within minutes of the 911 calls and

shut down highway 242. drivers were diverted off the freeway. as police combed over the asphalt look for clues that may help down the shooter, the victim was able to call himself to a hospital in concord. >> the victim was struck a couple times to his upper body. there were gunshot holes on the left side of his vehicles. >> officers talked to him briefly before he went into emergency surgery, but he was only able to give minimal information about what happened and so far only a couple other witnesses described a white s.u.v. opening fire on the victim's gold mercedes-benz s.u.v. police are hoping to connect with more witnesses. >> the freeway at that time was packed with cars and there were probably multiple witnesses that saw what happened but didn't want to call or report it. we urge them to call the dispatch center because we would love to talk to them. >> the highway was shut down as

they conduct their investigation of the it was opened before 6:30. they don't have a motive and don't know if it's connected to other highway shootings of that happened recently in the east bay. abc7 news. in san francisco the naacp will hold a press conference on the police shooting last week of mario woods. they want city officials and community members to work together to find solutions instead of violence. the meeting is set for tomorrow night at 6:00 at the third ba baptist church on mcallister street. >> we are hearing of friends of an oakland teenager after a tragic accident took his he life. it happened on the shoresfs lake merritt. him and his friends were celebrating a birthday. we have the details. >> he was a really, really great

guy. >> clair brook is dealing with the unbelievable loss of her good friend, jack lewis. >> it doesn't feel really real at this point. >> she and jack came to lake merritt friday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. the group was hanging out by the lake. some were climbing trees. >> there were three people sitting on the branch and jack jumped up to hang on it, and it fell. >> the 16-year-old was you crushed by the enormous weight of the tree limb that broke up, killing lewis. cards and flowers are left by the site. >> he was so full of life and joy and he never had anything bad to say about anything. >> jack lewis was a junior at oakland tech. a guidance counselor told me the school staff was told about the tragedy. rule which is was thinking about going to college. >> he was a super handsome dude. he was super nice to me.

every time i saw him he was super happy to see me and soup happy to see everyone. >> i'm so sorry for his family. >> many trees have been impacted by the drought. >> i go up to diamond park with my son a lot and i see a lot of the trees kind of dying so i get more concerned about it. >> public work crews will examine the tree to find a possible cause of why the large branch broke off. in oakland. abc news. >> fire gutted a home and killed more than a dozen animalsary alyn rock yesterday afternoon. no one was hurt but two dogs died. the family also raises chickens and 11 clicks parish, as well. it took about 45 minutes to put out the fire. investigators are working to find the cause. a man who helped make kitchenware cool has passed away. chuck williams, founder of william sonoma died of natural

causes at his home in san francisco yesterday. this is video of the tribute that was posted on the company's website. a trip to paris inspired him to open a store in downtown sonoma back in 1956 using the same cookware used by european chefs. he then expanded nationwide. he sold the company back in 1979, but he remained involved. chuck williams was 100 years old. happening today bikers will be hopping on their motorcycles for a good cause as part of its annual toy run. bikers from the golden gate harley club will deliver gifts to sick children at san francisco general hospital and trauma center. this is the 32nd year for the annual event. bikers will ref up their earnings at 10:30 this morning

>> clinton and bush will appear on" this week "with george stephanopoulos as they prepare for this month's debate. you can catch it at 8:00 this morning right here on abc7. catelyn jenner is facing another lawsuit for her role in a deadly car accident earlier this year of the a family from malibu suffered serious injuries in the collision and is suing jenner. he rear-ended a car that crashed into the family's s.u.v. the female driver called and her family has also filed suit. officials cleared jennings of any wrongdoing in the incident. officials say she was driving slower than the speed limit and slower than the victim's car. >> a close call for the actor morgan freeman. he was heading from texas to mississippi in a small plane to shoot the series "the story of god" when the plane blew a tire

while taking off. it made an emergency landing and skidded off the runway. only the pilot and 78-year-old oklahoma tore were on board. neither were hurt. two men in critical condition after a cowork i doused them with gas lean and set them on fire friday afternoon in maryland. vanessas that the details. >> he threw the gas on him and caught him on fire t happened so quick. >> it happened on the highway heral ender road near rush hour. >> the one victim received gurns over 90% of his body. his clothe were burned off of him at the scene. our second victim received burns to oar 60% of his body. >> 28-year-old christopher harrison started the fire. harrison worked with the victim. anthony rodriguez works for the same company. he said harrison had an ongoing dispute with one of the victims, they kept pushing him, pushing

way like this morning. number one, is light storm with less than a half-inch of rain and lasting just a few hours. number two would be a moderate storm of a half-inch to inch of rain, scattered power outages likely. a strong storm. three, widespread rain and minor flooding and numerous power outages. a major storm is moderate flooding, widespread outages and roads. and the last is roads impassable and power outages for several days. we are looking at a system with president breezy winds head your way right now. some may not see rain at all. we had heavy rain in santa rosa with fog. it's raining and snowing in mount shasta.

this rain will continue on and off throughout the morning hours. in fact even a chance throughout the afternoon hours. we go a little further north, mount st. helena and napa, some showers visiting you, and vacaville and 80 and just north is where we will see the impact with snow and perhaps even a little rain mixed in. so on your way to the sierra nevada, we've got a rain-snow mix. you can see truckee, cloudy right now. tahoe city looking at a little rain and snow mix there. this will continue to weaken as it pushes into some dry air. our exploratorium camera, 54 in san francisco. very mild out there. 53 in oakland. looking at low 50s for san jose. anywhere from two to fourteen degrees warmer. here's the upper elevation wind. 25 to 35 miles per hour winds out of the south keeping us mild and perhaps creating a little bit of an impact with travel conditions for you that could slow you down as you are out

this morning. 44 in fairfield, so do be careful. concord 52. ten degrees cooler for our friends in livermore at 42 and santa rosa a mild 49 degrees. emeryville your forecast then scattered showers mainly north now but they will spread south and east. very light. we will look for a partly cloudy conditions, mild numbers tomorrow and tuesday and then more significant system looks to head our way come thursday. so beach hazard statement 10:00 tonight until 4:00 tuesday morning. this is a high surf warning with the northwesterly swells increasing to 16 to 19 feet. dangerous all the way down the coast of the this is the plan throughout the morning hours of the 7:00 you notice still scattered showers, perhaps san francisco. and a few showers into the 9:00 hour. we have some green out there that continues into the around.

in. >> welcome back. >> we've had heave rain in the north bay. you see is the track as it pushes up through the valley. and things are quitely scattered in the north bay but more showers in the fast throughout the day today. some light rain through richmond, hercules and vallejo. further north, scattered showers near clear lake and middletown. and right up through woodland and the rain-snow mix into the sierra nevada with about 40 degrees about in blue canyon. a couple inches in the mountains and less than that back home. it is breezy and mild and showers on the way for the rest of the day. upper elevation winds from 20 to 30 miles an hour. so we will track the rain for you and look at the seven-day outlook which includes more rain. carolyn.

>> thank you. now to the latest in the san bernardino shootings. the fbi you raided a home yesterday next door to where suspect syed farook family used to live in riverside. an old friend of his lived in the house and more than three years ago that person bought the two assault weapons used in the shootings. but authorities have not talked to him because he checked himself into a mental hospital after the attack. he's not a suspect but they do want to question him. cecilia tells us the heroism by one of the victims. >> shannon johnson was inside the conference room sitting next to his friend denise. the meeting dragging on they joked about how they thought the clock might be broken but five minutes later the unimaginable. denise writing she and shannon huddled next to each other under a table using a table as a shield and the room under siege. shannon, a former high school

this way, only expecting 1 to 2 inches of snow. we have scattered showers in the forecast throughout the day today. 54 in san francisco, oakland 53. look at all the 50s. mild start for you with 355 half moon bay. look at this, looks a little wet here. livermore, concord and 52 san rafael. our fast highlights scattered showers today, partly cloudy, mild tuesday. temperatures back up into the 60s and more rain on thursday of the looks like into saturday, as well. very high surf, dangerous conditions, sufficient to 19 feet right on through tuesday all up and down the coast. so the next couple of hours it continues to flip south, pushing into dry air. we will see the showers in and around the bay from time to time. but they won't be very organized and won't be very heavy but they will be around. so it's a good idea to perhaps take it easy and be a wear it

may impact your sunday afternoon. so in terms of rainfall, anywhere from just over a tenth up in napa, .2 in novato, .08 for san carlos, san francisco over a tenth and as well as oakland. doesn't look like anything in mountain view or san jose but perhaps trace amounts there. looking outward in the extended forecast monday and tuesday cloudy skies, very mild into wednesday. thursday looks pretty active, maybe a half-inch or more with this system. it ends friday. and then into saturday, looks like a colder system. so hopefully more mountain snow on the way. highs today underneath the clouds a few scattered showers from the mid-and upper 50s. breezy south winds, 60 morgan hill. look for 58 in san mateo, 59 for you no oakland. the accuweather seven-day forecast not a lot of rain but enough to maybe mess up some plans. monday looking dry. look at the temperatures.
