>> good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, december 6th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> hi, carolyn. good morning. the rain has finally slipped into san francisco over into the east bay. you see the he have haddiest. looks like it was in the north bay and it was about 4:00 this morning. right now as we go in closer to marin county and down through the city, the bay view looking at some very light rain through tibion, 580 richmond and berkeley this morning. a little further north and east you see it's scattered and we will continue to see the fat earn throughout the day. napa, fairfield by the delta and woodland some shower activity. and looking into the sierra nevada, temperatures in the low to mid-50s there. a little rain-snow mix in the higher elevations. so the storm system will

continue to fall apart as it pushes to the south but we will have scattered showers, mild temperatures and breezy winds and we will detail it coming up. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. now to the latest in the san bernardino attack. the investigators think the wife may have had weapons training and she may have had connections to a isis recruiter. well have the latest. >> still so many questions, but this new video could answer where the assault rifles used in the san bernardino massacre came from. police stated they knew syed farook and his wife tashfeen malik purchased the handguns and the third party bought the rifles. any believe the third party is a former neighbor of farook. >> syed farook is not available.

>> farook's voice can still be heard on a mobile messaging systems and investigators are looking to see if he left behind twitter messages linking him to a notorious isis recruiter, an fbi fugitive, mohamed hassan, who s who uses ab handle name. the same man who attacked an exhibition in garland, texas. tweeting to his american followers then it's time for brothers in the u.s. to do their part. >> it ended with both attackers being killed. >> meanwhile, in an online posting isis praised the farook and the attack. the mother-turned-murderer was the mastermind, leaving her family baffled. >> how could you do something like this? at least think about your kid. >> and president obama will address the nation sunday night. he will give an update on the

investigation and outline what the government is doing to keep americans safe. abc news, new york. >> the president will address the nation on the attack in san bernardino today at 5:00 this evening our time. he's also expected to discuss the broader threat of terrorism, how it's evolved and how he believes we will defeat it. you can watch president obama live right here on abc7. this morning concord police are looking for a gunman who shot a person yesterday afternoon. traffic was backed up hours. police saying 911 calls came in about a person in a silver s.u.v. opening fire on another s.u.v. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana was the details. >> concord police arrived within minutes of the 911 calls and shut down highway 242. drivers were diverted off the freeway. as police combed over the

asphalt looking for clues that may help down the shooter, the victim was able to call himself to a hospital in concord. >> the victim was struck a couple times to his upper body. there were gunshot holes on the left side of his vehicle. >> officers talked to him briefly before he went into emergency surgery, but he was only able to give minimal information about what happened and so far only a couple other witnesses described a white s.u.v. opening fire on the victim's gold mercedes-benz s.u.v. police are hoping to connect with more witnesses. >> the freeway at that time was probably packed with cars and there were probably multiple witnesses that saw what happened but didn't want to call or report it. we strongly urge them to call the dispatch center because we would love to talk to them. >> the highway was shut down as they conducted their investigation. it was re-opened before 6:30.

they don't have a motive and don't know if it's connected to other highway shootings of that happened recently in the east bay. in concord, sergio quintana, abc7 news. in san francisco the naacp will hold a press conference on the police shooting last week of mario woods. they want city officials and community members to work together to find solutions instead of violence. the meeting is set for tomorrow night at 6:00 at the third baptist church on mcallister street. >> we are hearing of friends of an oakland teenager after a tragic accident took his he life. it happened friday you night on the shores of lake merritt where he and his friends were celebrating a birthday. we have the details. >> he was a really, really great guy. >> clair brook is dealing with the unbelievable loss of her good friend, jack lewis.

>> it just doesn't feel really real at this point. >> she and jack came to lake merritt friday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. the group was hanging out by the lake. some were climbing trees. >> there were three people sitting on the branch and jack just jumped up to hang on it, and it fell. >> police say the 16-year-old was crushed by the enormous weight of the tree limb that broke up, killing lewis. cards and flowers are left by the site. >> he was so full of life and joy and he never had anything bad to say about anything. >> jack lewis was a junior at oakland tech. a guidance counselor told me the school staff was notified about the tragedy. lewis was thinking about going to college. >> he was a super handsome dude. he was super nice to me. every time i saw him he was super happy to see me and super happy to see everyone. >> i'm so sorry for his family.

>> some parents say many trees have been impacted by the drought. >> i go up to diamond park with my son a lot and i see a lot of the trees kind of dying, so i get more concerned about it. >> the city said public work crews will examine the tree to find a possible cause of why the large branch broke off. in oakland. abc7 news. >> a fire gutted a home and killed more than a dozen animals in allen rock yesterday afternoon. no one was hurt but two dogs died. the family also raises chickens it took about 45 minutes to put out the fire. investigators are working to find the cause. a man who helped make kitchenware cool has passed away. chuck williams, founder of william sonoma died of natural causes at his home in san francisco yesterday. this is video of the tribute

that was posted on the company's website. he said a trip to paris inspired him to open a store in downtown sonoma back in 1956 using the same cookware used by european chefs. two years later he moved to a larger store in san francisco, and then he then expanded nationwide. he sold the company back in 1979, but he remained involved. chuck williams was 100 years old. happening today, bikers will be hopping on their motorcycles for a good cause as part of its annual toy run. bikers from the golden gate harley club will deliver gifts to sick children at san francisco general hospital and trauma center. this is the 32nd year for the annual event. bikers will revv up their engines at 10:30 this morning good head down petrare to the hospital. the dubs beat the raptors to

>> welcome back. 66:12 on this sunday morning. thanks for joining us on the sunday morning news. it's raining, it's pouring -- well, maybe not pouring, but a live look from our san rafael camera. you see rain drops on the will bees. scattered showers today throughout the bay area with mild temperatures. lisa argen along shortly with her full accuweather forecast. a close call for actor morgan free man. he was aboard a private plane that made a hard landing last night. he was heading from texas to mississippi in a small plane to shoot the series "the story of god" when the plane blew a tire while taking off. it made an emergency and skidded off the runway. only the pilot and 78-year-old

actor were on board. neither were hurt. two men in critical two men in critical condition after a coworker doused them with gas lean and set them on fire friday afternoon in maryland. >> he threw the gas on him and caught him on fire t happened so quick. >> it happened on the highway heral ender road near rush hour. >> the one victim received gurns over 90% of his body. his clothes were burned off of him at the scene. our second victim received burns to over 60% of his body. >> 28-year-old christopher harrison started the fire. harrison worked with the victim. anthony rodriguez works for the same company. he said harrison had an ongoing dispute with one of the victims, they kept pushing him, pushing him, sag they wanted to fight him. >> they agreed to settle it of the there was nothing besides

that was said. even leading up to the altercation they both took their shirts off and they appeared like they were going to fight. >> david posted his video online. >> we did receive this video. you have that video as evidence that we will use to further our investigation and hopefully assist the prosecution of this case. >> as the investigation continues, a group of one of the victim's friends is doing what they can to help him heel. >> he might not be able to work when he comes out and i kind of wanted him to have a little bit of money set aside for him so he would be able to get on his feet and recover. >> that was vanessa herring reporting. he has been charged with attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment. >> a central american volcano has erupted for the first time in more than a century. you see this in nicaragua. the ground began shaking about two weeks ago. lava and ash started spewing earlier this week.

some people wetted down their roofs fearing it would start fires. it was the first one since 1905. >> knew this morning, many of you in the north bay are waking up to showers. would you, look at this. this is petaluma, where the rain was coming down pretty hard earlier this morning. what do you think, lisa? >> yeah, they did have a nice burst there at 4:00. we are getting showers in san francisco, the east bay. so as we get started this morning i want to show you the storm impact scale that really verifies what you can expect in the next couple of hours. we are on a sky 1. but we will explain each and every one. the light storm anywhere from half in or less of rain lasting just a few hours. 2 is moderate where we could see a half-inch to inch of rain, scattered power outages. 3 would de♪ a strong storm with 1 or 2 inches of rain, widespread hazardous roads, numerous power outages. 4 is a two to three inches of rain kind of storm.

moderate flooding, widespread mudslides and widespread power outages and 5 is a severe storm, roads impassable and power outages for several days. right now we are in the midst of number 1. scattered showers have been pushing through san francisco into southern marin county and the east bay. as i said before we had pretty good down pours at 4:00. berkeley and highway 12, miranda looking at rain and richmond, 580, back through san rafael. and san francisco had a few light showers. you see more offshore and even redwood city, milbrae, san carlos, you can see showers it through about 1:00. oakland, we have the game but a chance there. the best activity north of 80 of the you see davis getting impacted. sacramento expects less than a half-inch of rain in the system.

the rain has been mainly confined not far north bay in the 3:00, 4:00 hour but a few showers slipping south into san francisco and the east bay. not much burks enough to slow you down. the winds are very breezy. rain extends that arizona through milbrae and south san francisco and will be stacking up over 580 and berkeley. showers through the sacramento valley. upper 30s at the tahoe valley airport. more will be changing over to snow later, but still right now it's kind of a mess up there. 40s and 50s. winds up to 30 and 40 miles an hour in the upper elevations and throughout the rest of the day. we will keep the scattered showers in the forecast. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. new this morning, at least six businesses have been damaged in the north bay after a two-alarm fire broke out early thissing morning. officials say it started at the cigarettes cheaper store in petaluma. those businesses are also out of

power right now. the cause of the fire is under investigation. now to the latest in the san bernardino shootings. the fbi raided a home yesterday next door to where suspect syed farook's family used to live in riverside. one neighbor said that an old friend of his lived in the house, and more than three years ago that person bought the two assault weapons used in the shootings. but authorities have not talked to him because he checked himself into a mental hospital after the attack. the fbi says he's not a suspect, but they do want to question him. cecilia tells us the heroism by one of the victims. >> shannon johnson was inside the conference room sitting next to his friend denise. the meeting dragging on they joked about how they thought the clock might be broken, but five minutes later the unimaginable. denise writing she and shannon huddled next to each other under

and they are warning citizens to avoid the area. they are not saying what the threat is or who may be behind it, but the consulate compound has increased their security measures. the road is closed off with metal barricades you see there and several police vehicles are stationed in front of it. in london, scotland yard said a stabbing at a train station was a terrorist incident [indiscernible] >> video taken inside the underground station shows a man stabbing one of several people yesterday. one man has serious injuries, two others with minor injuries. witnesses say the attacker shouted "this is for syria." police hit him with a stun gun and arrested him. british parliament recently approved military air strikes on islamic extremist group targets in syria. terror has become the new focus of the presidential campaign. the candidates are talking tough and calling for action. we have the latest from the
